Amber Tamblyn‘s daughter already has friends in high places.

A Ghost StoryDear Lawrence,Almost every major festival has a hidden holy grail, the one film that will justify trudging through thick snow, the one film that will sustain us through less than ideal conditions, and the one film that will remain in our memory long after the festival is over. But because of how Sundance is programmed, marketed and covered, finding that film is impossible without trial and error, as you probably know all too well by now. Almost everything is positioned as the next something-or-other: the next all-timer, the next Best Picture winner, or the next Juno, Little Miss Sunshine or what have you. Have you been checking Twitter, reading the press releases, keeping up with all the “takes”? When I was here last year, there was the big hoopla over Birth of a Nation, which garnered universal acclaim and was the most expensive acquisition of the festival’s history.

Not gonna lie, this is something we'd like to see.
In case you didn't hear, newly 21-year-old Justin Bieber is getting roasted soon, and apparently he really, really, really wants Seth Rogen to be there.
The frequently shirtless singer has been sending Rogen tweets basically begging him to be there.
News: Here's everything Comedy Central Should Roast Justin Bieber About
He's tried calling:
@Sethrogen come on man. Check your voicemail. I took it like a man as u blasted a nervous kid fan of yours (me). Now I'm a man. Roast me!
— Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) March 2, 2015
Laying on a little guilt:
Where are you now when I need you @Sethrogen. #WhereAreÜNow https://t.co/zjT9f8I3oj
— Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) March 2, 2015
Starting a hashtag campaign:

Disney’s Diamond Edition releases have been brilliant additions to your collection, and the 101 Dalmatians Diamond Edition is no different.
A film that not only stands up, and is one of the most treasured Disney films, but one that provided a serious boost to Disney when it needed it most, 101 Dalmatians is a must own.
The film needs no introduction, nor does its love-to-hate villain, but it must be noted that this is one of the earliest Disney films that kids today still really fall in love with. I’m using my own, small focus group there, but whereas there is some appreciation for pre-1960 Disney films, they aren’t generally titles that are the subject of the, “Can we! Can we!” dance. Not so with 101 Dalmatians, which still pulls kids of a wide range of ages in.
The real question here is the bonus content of a new release,...

101 Dalmatians was one of my favorites films as a child. I generally found that Disney cartoons involving animals, like it and Jungle Book were a lot funnier and less sentimental than all those boring girly fairy-tales like Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs and Sleeping Beauty. I also liked the fact that the action took place not in some fantastic never-never land but in the real England. 101 Dalmatians of course deals with the theft of a litter of Dalmatian puppies by a woman named Cruella De Vil who wants to skin them and turn them into fur coats. The human authorities are baffled, so it falls to the kidnapped puppies’ parents, Pongo and Perdita, to track them down and rescue them- along with a lot more Dalmatian pups acquired by Cruella for the same nefarious purpose.
101 Dalmatians is rather different in look from a lot of earlier Disney cartoons, which were characterized by bright colors.

These days, it’s all about the Disney princesses, but Perdita is merely a dog without high pedigree. As a result, she and her mate Pongo, are often overlooked. They’re certainly overshadowed by their antagonist, the Dalmatian loving Cruella De Vil, about the chew every scene in Once Upon a Time. Thank goodness, then, that Walt Disney reminds us about the utter charm contained within their 1961 release 101 Dalmatians. Out Tuesday in a handsome Diamond Combo Pack, their 17th film holds up remarkably well.
The film arrived at a precarious time for the studio as rising costs made their animated fare very expensive. The Warner Archive Collection has finally released the elusive Liberace feature ‘Sincerely Yours’. Originally released to theaters in 1955, this film is a curio of the times, the studio system and most importantly a snapshot, (in color no less; more on that later) of the early stages of the musician’s career.
To be fair to the movie, we need to turn our mental clocks back to the mid- 50s (so lines such as ‘They’ll love him in San Francisco’ wouldn’t bring immediate chuckles). That upstart- television- had been keeping audiences away from theaters in droves. Various new processes were employed to give audiences an experience they couldn’t get at home, such as Cinemascope and 3-D. So what was one of Warner Brother’s great ideas ? To make a movie with the TV’s first idol, the charming pianist from Wisconsin, Wladziu Valentino Liberace or as he was known professionally,...

Michael Douglas and Matt Damon will play, respectively, Liberace and lover Scott Thorson in the HBO production Behind the Candelabra. With Academy Award winner Steven Soderbergh at the helm of the Liberace movie, filming should begin in the summer of 2012. Richard Lagravenese, whose latest credit was the Reese Witherspoon-Robert Pattinson effort Water for Elephants, is the project's screenwriter. The Wisconsin-born Liberace — a walking, talking, singing, piano-playing gay stereotype if ever there was one — died from AIDS complications at the age of 67 in Palm Springs in 1987. Though Liberace's sexual orientation was no secret to anyone but his most wilfully blind female fans — 1950s Confidential magazine once suggested that his official song should be "Mad About the Boy" — the entertainer kept mum about it until the very end. In fact, as per the New York Times obit, Liberace died after suffering "cardiac arrest due to congestive heart failure brought on by subacute encephalopathy.

Dear Editors;
Regarding Lee Pfeiffer's piece on Heather Mills from November 22, 2007: Does Mr. Pfeiffer actually believe the words "the wretched refuse of your teeming shore" were written by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, the designer of the Statue of Liberty? Bartholdi was a sculptor, not a poet. Those famous words, of course, come from the poem "The New Colossus" which is inscribed on the tablet at the base of the statue, and which was penned by Emma Lazarus. A man with Pfeiffer's credentials really ought to know better -- especially if he's a New Jerseyite!
- Scot Penslar
Retro Replies: Good job, Scott...naturally I knew the information was incorrect all along and was merely hoping to find someone intelligent enough to see through the misinformation....And if you believe that, you probably thought Liberace was well cast as that devilish lady's man in Sincerely Yours! I'm afraid this is...
