Despite a busy schedule fighting the battle between real and fake news, CNN anchor Jake Tapper has a hobby: fiction writing. Tapper’s debut novel is set to release next summer, Entertainment Weekly reports. The Hellfire Club tells the story of “Charlie Marder… a newly appointed young New York congressman navigating the dangerous waters of the era and the capital with his wife, Margaret, a zoologist with ambitions of her own,” according to a Monday release from publisher Little, Brown. “Amid the swirl of glamorous and powerful political leaders and deal makers, a mysterious fatal car accident thrusts Charlie and Margaret into an.

Legion is right around the corner, and while The Hellfire Club never happened, another mutant led series is nearing a pilot order at Fox. Written by Matt Nix (Burn Notice), Deadline reports that Fox, 20th Century Fox TV, and Marvel TV have responded well to his script, and a pilot pickup is expected shortly.  In a strong show of faith, "exploratory casting" is said to be taking place, and while specific character details are being kept under wraps, the trade reveals that it "focuses on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive." Yawn? The last couple of Logan images posted to the WponX Instagram page haven't been especially revealing, but this latest one does give us a close-up of Reaver leader Donald Pierce's (Narcos actor Boyd Holbrook) robotic arm. In the comics, Pierce is a full cyborg who despises mutants and has caused The X-Men all sorts of problems over the years as member of not only The Reavers, but also The Hellfire Club and The Purifies. We finally know who will be squaring off against Wolverine in Logan, the upcoming superhero film that marks Hugh Jackman's last time playing the beloved X-Men character. Back in April, we learned that Narcos star Boyd Holbrook had been cast as a villain described as "a relentless, calculating and intense head of security for a global enterprise," but we weren't sure exactly which character he'd be playing. Now the secret is out, thanks to the film's newly-official Instagram account called wponx:

The more these comic book universes continue to expand, the more obscure the characters plucked from the pages of the source material seem to be. Granted, I’m not a big comics guy to begin with, but still, I can’t be the only one who doesn’t know who Pierce is. Today it has been revealed that’s who the villain of “Logan” will be, played by Boyd Holbrook, and after some basic hunting around, all you need to know is that he’s a cyborg linked to The Hellfire Club.

Thanks to FX Networks and FX Productions CEO John Landgraf, we’ve learned some new information on the upcoming X-Men inspired series Legion. The series is being developed by Fargo series creator Noah Hawley, and it has officially been picked by the cable network.

Turns out the series is moving forward pretty quickly — it will premiere later this year! Talking to the Television Critics Association, Landgraf said:

“We’re quite well along. We have a writing staff working. We’ve seen not only the pilot script but many episodes. I would anticipate Legion will go on the air sometime in 2016, this year.”

Back in October, Marvel announced two new TV shows set in the X-Men universe, Fox's Hellfire and FX's Legion. We haven't heard too much about either show yet, but IGN is reporting that Legion will debut sometime in 2016 on FX. The series has already cast Rachel Keller as the female lead, with FX president John Landgraf revealing at the TCA winter tour that the show's development is moving along nicely. Here's what he had to say below.

"We're quite well along. We've had a writing staff working. We've seen not only the pilot but several episodes and we're well in process of casting. I would anticipate that Legion would go on the air some time in 2016, this year."

The pilot episode of Legion introduces the story of David Haller. Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years.

With the announcement of Fox reviving the "24" franchise without Kiefer Sutherland in the upcoming "24: Legacy" event series, it was also revealed that many of the former producers from the action series are returning for the production.

Four of them - Evan Katz, Manny Coto, Patrick McKay and Jd Payne - were previously set to produce Fox's "X-Men" spinoff series "Hellfire". With them now shifting to "24," an entirely different creative team will have to come onboard and will be announced soon.

20th Century Fox Television and Marvel Television still intend to produce the series about a young special agent who learns that a power-hungry woman with extraordinary abilities is working with a clandestine society of millionaires – known as 'The Hellfire Club' – to take over the world.

At the Fox portion of the winter TCA, the network gave updates on several projects, including the X-Men spinoff TV series, Hellfire Club. When asked how soon the show could premiere, Fox CEO Dana Walden said it's possible but unlikely the show debuts this year. "Unlikely it would be the fall. Potentially midseason but no immediate plans. We’re still working on Hellfire Club. Obviously those executive producers are very busy with the film franchise and the FX show, so not sure." Hellfire Club will be a period drama, set in the 1960s. The series will be jointly produced by 20th Century Fox and Marvel Television. British film producer Robert S. Baker teamed with Monte Berman to produce, and occasionally direct, a handful of Gothic horror and science fiction films in the late 1950s. The duo produced the classic 1958 terror tale Blood of the Vampire (1958) starring Sir Donald Wolfit, and the cult sci-fi thriller The Crawling Eye (aka The Trollenberg Terror) (1958) starring Forrest Tucker. They produced and directed the 1959 gruesome recounting of Jack the Ripper (1959), and told the tale of the bodysnatching team of Burke and Hare in 1960’s The Flesh and the Fiends (aka Mania, The Fiendish Ghouls) starring Peter Cushing and Donald Pleasence. They also produced the period thriller The Hellfire Club (1961) and the horror comedy No Place Like Homicide! (aka What a Carve Up!) (1961).

Baker was born in London on October 27, 1916. He served in the Royal Artillery in North Africa during World War II, before being transferred to the Army Film and Photographic Unit.
