An official website opened today announced that a TV anime adaptation of The Stunned Hero and the Assassin Princesses ( Kizetsu Yusha to Ansatsu Hime ) is in the works for a planned 2025 release. South Korea’s box office admissions dipped 1.6% in 2024 while local productions recorded a significant rise in market share across the year.

There were 123 million admissions in 2024, according to Kobis, the Korean Film Council’s box office tracking service. This is down on the 125.1 million admissions recorded in 2023, which had marked an 11% rise on 2022 as the country continued to attract cinemagoers back to theatres after the Covid-19 pandemic.

The latest figures highlight that admissions remain 45.6% below pre-pandemic 2019, which had ranked as South Korea’s all-time highest box office year in terms of admissions and gross.

Former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world Lennox Lewis is getting into a new ring: Unscripted TV. Lennox and executive producer Eric Van Wagenen are developing a boxing-related competition that “aims to bring boxing back to its roots as fighters from across the country are highlighted in a tournament style.”

The unscripted project is the first to come out of a new strategic partnership announced by Paul Telegdy’s The Whole Spiel shingle and management house 3Point0 Labs, led by Marquel Martin. “Lennox Lewis is a titan of the boxing world,” Telegdy said. “We couldn’t be more excited to be in business with him and have him at the helm of our first project.”

Lewis was a contestant in 2008 on “The Apprentice,” where Van Wagenen was an EP. Van Wagenen’s TV boxing credits also include “The Contender.”

A new isekai fantasy novel series is being adapted into an anime.

Chillin' in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers is the latest entry in the ubiquitous Japanese genre of fiction to see an anime adaptation. Announced as part of the "10th Anniversary Memorial Overlap Bunko All-Star Assemble Special" livestream, the series is being handled by well-known animation studio J.C. Staff. J.C. Staff has produced several popular and iconic anime in the past decade, including Edens Zero, One-Punch Man, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. and Food Wars. The release of the upcoming series was shown through a trailer.

For years I, and many others, believed that James Bryan’s The Executioner Part II was one of those “hilarious” movies – like Leonard Part 6 and Surf II – that posits that it is a sequel, only it’s a sequel to a non-existent movie!
