I’m old enough to remember when Jacques Rivette films were the domain of dark-web networks and substandard DVD rips, a conspiratorial network worthy of his cinema. It’s still a little strange seeing that April will feature a 10-film, one-short Criterion Channel program that combines of his canonized masterpieces with decidedly lesser-seens––plus Va Savoir, which I really hope is the recently unearthed four-hour cut for which there’s no substitute. Penélope Cruz is also subject of a retrospective in April, which––more than making me pine for a Rivette collab that never was––will include both Abre Los Ojos and Vanilla Sky, some Almodóvar, and another in the Channel’s ongoing let’s-add-a-Woody-Allen-movie campaign, Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Harrison Ford's first feature film was an uncredited role as a bellhop in the 1966 James Coburn crime thriller "Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round." He was 24. It's wild to think that Ford, when he was 80, also starred in the 2023 blockbuster "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," which was set in 1969. The elderly Indiana Jones, if he was a movie fan, could have seen the film debut of Harrison Ford.
Sylvester Stallone's first feature film came in 1969, when he was 23. He played an uncredited extra in a film called "The Square Root." Indeed, for the first three years of his career, Stallone mostly played uncredited roles, turning up in films like "What's Up, Doc?," "Bananas," and "Klute." Stallone doesn't have a career wraparound like Ford's above, but he was recently the subject of "Sly," a documentary about his career.

Johnny Bananas denied sending a Gorilla emoji tweet to former Big Brother winner Taylor Hale, which caused severe backlash on social media.
Last week, several X messages went on The Challenge winner’s X account, which may have been attempting to drive engagement ahead of Bananas’ new cryptocurrency venture.
Some messages mentioned or criticized reality TV shows, including CBS’s Survivor and Big Brother.
“That yellow fruit man pinned a tweet to his profile at 8Am saying he was looking for engagement, and by 3Pm you all gave him exactly what he asked for? I don’t want to hear a single word if he somehow pops up on every show in the conversation,” Hale wrote in an X message about Bananas.
That message (below) received a reply from Bananas’ X account, which had several banana emojis followed by a gorilla emoji.

Woody Allen is a four-time Academy Award winner who has proved incredibly prolific in his decades-long career, writing, directing, and oftentimes starring in nearly a film a year for over 50 years. But how many of those are classics? Let’s take a look back at 25 of his greatest films, ranked worst to best.
After years as a joke writer and standup comic, Allen transitioned into filmmaking penning such screenplays as “What’s New Pussycat?” (1965) and starring in such titles as “Casino Royale” (1967). His first credit as a director was the comedically overdubbed Japanese spy thriller “What’s Up, Tiger Lily?” (1966).
The Woody Allen as we know him emerged in 1969 with the farcical mockumentary “Take the Money and Run” (1969), made when he was 34 years old. The success of that film led to a string of critically acclaimed absurdist comedies, including “Bananas” (1971) and “Sleeper” (1973).

The journey to stardom is not an easy one. While some celebrities are fortunate enough to be born into the business, others must work tirelessly to climb the ladder of success.

Every actor has a story to tell, many of which come from humble beginnings that can be truly inspiring.
After all, nobody starts at the top, and becoming a great actor doesn’t happen overnight. With that in mind, here are ten celebrities who started as background actors, and their journeys might just surprise you.
1. Brad Pitt
Many may know Brad Pitt as Hollywood royalty, but his journey to stardom began much more modestly.

Zach Nichols called out former castmate Johnny Bananas with recent criticisms about how he plays The Challenge.
Zach and Bananas last appeared as castmates during the War of the Worlds 2 season, where Bananas was an early elimination due to Cara Maria Sorbello and Paulie Calafiore’s votes.
Meanwhile, Zach hung around until the end of the season, reaching the final as part of Team USA with Cara, Paulie, and several other castmates. They ultimately lost to a four-person Team UK.
Bananas is currently part of the epic 40-person cast for The Challenge: Battle of the Eras and has recently been featured in quite a bit of drama.
That included him warning castmate Michele Fitzgerald over her showmance with Devin Walker, which riled up Michele, Devin, and Tori Deal. It led to plenty of drama and game moves aimed at one another.

The Tiger King may have been dethroned, with a new docuseries from HBO telling another bonkers story about owning potentially dangerous exotic animals debuting with a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Titled Chimp Crazy, the four-part series comes courtesy of Eric Goode, the director behind Netflixs pop culture phenomenon Tiger King, and tells the story of former nurse-turned-exotic animal broker Tonia Haddix, who spends her days caring for animals in captivity. However, her limitless love for one chimpanzee in particular spins into a wild cat-and-mouse game with authorities and an animal rights group...
The series sounds just as intriguing as the bizarre tale of Joe Exotic, and the first reviews for Chimp Crazy have hailed it as the next must watch series surrounding the outlandish world of exotic animal owners and, in this case, so-called chimp moms. Margaret Lyons of The New York Times found Chimp Crazy to be an improvement on the Tiger King.

It’s the biggest and likely baddest season The Challenge has ever seen — and no, that’s not just some glossy marketing promo. A whopping 40 (!) challengers from the franchise’s 26-year history (!!) descend upon Vietnam for what looks to be one of the most insane seasons to ever go into production. What a way to celebrate a legacy.
While the four different eras will, indeed, be going to war (eventually), host Tj Lavin drops a ginormous twist at the top of the hour: the players must survive “The Era Invitational” first, which comprises of the biggest elimination night the game has ever seen!

Ever since Charlton Heston climbed out of a little rocket ship in the toxic waters of the Forbidden Zone, science fiction has never been the same. The film in which he starred was based on a Pierre Boulle novel, but by the time it reached the big screen, it felt like an epic cinematic version of The Twilight Zone (and it had the Rod Serling writing credit to prove it).
The ending of the film is still one of the all-time great “twists” in cinema history, birthing the first modern science fiction franchise. And it’s never let up since. When Wes Ball’s latest installment in this upside down universe, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, hits big screens this coming weekend, the series will have seen nearly a dozen films released over the span of about 60 years. A feud between Tamra Judge of The Real Housewives of Orange County and Parvati Shallow from Survivor may pique interest in a reunion show for The Traitors 2.
Tamra and Parvati each appeared on the second season of The Traitors, with Parvati, Big Brother’s Dan Gheesling, and Rhoa’s Phaedra Parks Murdering Tamra in the game.
Parvati was eliminated three episodes later when she got Banished at a Roundtable. She was the second Traitor eliminated, as Dan was Banished right before her.
Many players from The Traitors have been doing interviews as the show continues rolling. And it’s those interviews where feuds and chaos have been coming up.
One feud is between Big Brother legends, as guest star Dr. Will Kirby went after his fellow alums and how they have played The Traitors.
And now Tamra hasn’t taken kindly to Parvati speaking about her during a recent podcast episode hosted by Johnny Bananas.

Moriah Jadea experienced difficult emotions while on MTV’s The Challenge: Battle For a New Champion due to her conflicted feelings about her showmances.

Former The Challenge and Real World star Zach Nichols continues to express strong opinions about the cast members of Battle For a New Champion.
The latest included remarks directed at Moriah Jadea, whom he called “delusional” for how she’s played the game to save her showmance over people she’d met and bonded with on her first season of The Challenge.
In the recent episode of Season 39, viewers saw Jay Starrett and Michele Fitzgerald having to figure out how to make the many members of their large alliance happy and safe while trying to eliminate two of the game’s top competitors.
Since Moriah has been linked with James Lock during the season due to a showmance, she wanted to keep him safe again.

The Challenge Season 40 could be legendary based on speculation swirling over the cast.
While only a few competitors have been revealed so far, a recent addition to the rumored list is one of the game’s all-time greats.
Season 39, Battle For a New Champion, featured some of the show’s multi-time winners, including Darrell Taylor, Cara Maria Sorbello, and Ct Tamburello.

Regardless of where one stands politically, the best political comedies offer a humorous and often scathing critique of politicians. Frequently controversial, political comedies usually offend one faction of the political spectrum, and, in some cases, cause an uproar across the entire political landscape.
Many film industries worldwide rely on governmental funding for production, making it difficult to avoid censorship when creating politically charged films. In the United States, Hollywood studios exist independently of the government, which allows more freedom to attack the country's political forces through film. Political comedies are an invaluable component of Western culture from Hollywood's Golden Era to today.

Lou Alexander, a comedian who worked the national nightclub circuit in the U.S. and Canada in the 1950s and 1960s before becoming an agent and manager, died earlier this month in Beverly Hills. He was 91 and no details on the cause were available, according to his friend, Jeremy Vernon.
Alexander grew up as the son of a burlesque comedian who worked the Catskills in the heyday of the famed “Borscht Belt.” Young Lou became part of the act at age 10, joining him in skits.
Later, teaming with high school friend Howard Storm – who went on to direct the films Bananas, Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex But Were Afraid To Ask, and Take The Money and Run – they worked the comedy circuit as Storm and Gale, playing rooms in the Miami area and building a cult following among national comedians who were impressed with their burlesque routines.

If you’re wondering what’s new on Amazon Prime Video in June, the answer is a lot. The streamer has a solid slate of movies heading into summer 2023. From the first two “Creed” films to “Love, Rosie,” “Yours, Mine & Ours” and other clever romantic comedies, the streamer has a range of options for viewers with different tastes. Newer theatrical releases arriving on the streamer in June include “TÁR,” “Armageddon Time,” and “M3GAN.”
TV premieres to look forward to include Boots Riley’s “I’m A Virgo” and the fourth and final season of John Krasinski’s “Jack Ryan.” “Crazy Rich Asians” arrives early in June, followed by “Interstellar” for all Christopher Nolan and Matthew McConaughey lovers. Even though “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” doesn’t release in theaters until November, all four “Hunger Games” films land on Prime Video this June. Perfect timing — maybe even with a reread...

With its list of new releases for June 2023, Prime is bringing a handful of Amazon Originals and many recent movie hits to the fold.
It’s actually quite a busy month for non-American programming in Amazon Originals department. Shows and movies like Deadloch, My Fault, and Medellín all originate from outside the U.S. and U.K. For the American and British crowd, however, the streamer is debuting two big tentpoles.
The first is I’m a Virgo on June 23. Acclaimed director Boots Riley’s TV followup to Sorry to Bother You will tale the surreal and satirical tale of a giant in Oakland. That will be followed by the more conventional (assumedly) fourth season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan on June 30.
The real fireworks this month come from a ludicrously deep bench of library TV and movie titles. Give them a look for yourself below but if we were to highlight just a few,...

Nurys Mateo has officially been eliminated from The Challenge: Ride or Dies, but she should return for a future season. Nurys previously competed on Are You The One? and Ex On The Beach, before making her rookie debut on The Challenge. She entered the game with a fellow contestant from Are You The One?, Nelson Thomas, her designated ride-or-die. With Nurys as a partner, Nelson saw massive success, compared to his performance in previous seasons. He even broke his streak of losing daily challenges, which had lasted for several seasons. Unfortunately, Nurys was eliminated on episode 11, and Nelson followed shortly after, during episode 12.
On a season that many fans are calling "boring", Nurys stood out as a fan favorite among the rookies, thanks to her distinct personality and involvement in house drama. Considering The Challenge is losing viewers, notable personalities like Nurys have the potential to keep the show alive.
