On February 24, Special Agent Dale Cooper entered the town of Twin Peaks — like every town you’ve ever known, and no place you’ve ever seen.

Several online stores are celebrating Twin Peaks Day — the first without its visionary co-creator David Lynch, who passed away last month — with new merchandise dedicated to series.

Horror’s Greatest makes a comeback with a second season filled with exciting episodes for horror fans hungry for more horror films to see in 2025. This season's episodes include “Animal Attacks”, “Killer Dates”, “Hidden Gems”, “Film Scores”, and “Space Horror”. Showrunner Kurt Sayenga brings to this season new perspectives to horror classics like The Birds and Carrie, to lesser-known frights like The Blackcoat’s Daughter and Ghostwatch, with several on-camera interviewees, including myself.

Your latest film, Fright, recently enjoyed a successful World premiere at FrightFest 2024, where it was compared to The Haunting and The Innocents. Describe what the occasion was like.

The entire Frightfest experience was the usual festival mix of nervous excitement and terror! It was the first time the cast and crew were seeing the film too so I was really hoping they would love how it turned out – and I think they did. The paying audience added even more pressure, being made up of seasoned horror fans who, by that point, had already watched around 25 films over the weekend so that was quite stressful.

However, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive from the audience and the Frightfest critics.

Now streaming on Max, the latest adaptation of Stephen King’s horror classic Salem’s Lot is a feature film produced by horror master James Wan, and Wan has taken to social media this week to reveal his own personal list of the best vampire horror movies ever made.

Last month, the Edgar Wright comedy Shaun of the Dead returned to theaters to celebrate 20 bloody years. The festivities continue with an all-new 4K release. I always enjoy seeing the horror and Western genres get mixed together, so as soon as I saw that the upcoming film Place of Bones is being described as “action-packed horror Western,” I was sold on checking it out. I didn’t even have to watch a trailer to know I want to see how the movie has turned out – but distributor The Avenue has unveiled a trailer for Place of Bones, and you can check it out in the embed above. The film is set to receive a theatrical and digital release on August 23rd.

Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton are bringing their anthology show Inside No 9 to the West End stage, it’s been announced.

Wednesday will see the start of the ninth and final series of Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton’s much-loved anthology show, Inside No 9. In the meantime, West End play called Stage/Fright has been announced. Written by and starring Pemberton and Shearsmith, the play will be directed by Simon Evans, and will run at the Wyndham’s Theatre in London from the 18th January to the 5th April 2025.

The play will not be an adaptation of any existing episodes, with Pemberton and Shearsmith penning an original tale which takes full advantage of the live setting. The description reads as follows:

Fright Crewe isn't the first all-ages horror story that Eli Roth has ever played with. While 2018’s The House with a Clock in Its Walls felt like Roth's take on a children's fable, Fright Crewe (which he created and executive produced with I Am Number Four author James Frey) takes more cues from the teenage supernatural genre -- at times operating like a fusion of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Power Rangers. Classic Hollywood stars, known for their work in other genres, also took on roles in horror movies, delivering iconic performances. Famous actresses like Barbara Stanwyck and Joan Crawford showcased their talent in psychological horror films, proving their versatility. Notable actors such as Charlton Heston and Gregory Peck dipped their toes into the horror genre, adding depth to their filmography.

Many actors choose to stay away from horror movies for different reasons, so it might come as a surprise that some classic Hollywood actors, known for their works in other genres, appeared in at least one horror movie. The horror genre has seen a variety of actors, many of them known for their performances in other genres, while others dedicate most of their careers to appearing in scary movies. However, what might seem surprising to many, is to know that some classic Hollywood stars also gave the horror genre a chance at some point.

There’s a pervasive sense of optimism in the air in Hollywood that has nothing to do with the onset of fall weather. The Writers Guild of America is no longer striking, and today the heads of major studios like Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery are sitting down with the Screen Actors Guild to see if the new contract with the WGA can’t provide a blueprint toward a deal with it as well.

By this time next week, a deal could well be in place that allows SAG and its affiliated members to get back to work. Until then, however, users can enjoy a fantastic new selection of shows and movies that are coming to streaming this week!

While there are a plethora of streaming services with an array of TV options, most people feel comfortable subscribing to a single one, mainly because it best suits their needs and often provides some genuinely intriguing shows.

The next limited-time event for Apex Legends is due to kick off later today and Respawn has dropped a new trailer to celebrate.

Similar to the somewhat controversial Iron Crown campaign held earlier this year, Fight or Fright is what the developer is dubbing a ‘Collection’ event. The archetype is one of three different formats that Apex players have been regularly receiving over the last several months and boasts a wealth of new cosmetics; some earned, others purchased. Furthermore, obtaining every new suitably-themed Halloween costume for each hero is a prerequisite to unlocking a brand new Heirloom item for Lifeline.

50 States of Fright, an urban legends-based horror anthology series bound for Quibi, reveals an impressive cast roster.

Quibi, the Jeffrey Katzenberg-backed 2020-launching streaming platform designed for short-form stories, has announced a most intriguing offering amongst its 40-project-deep backlog, a horror anthology series, titled 50 States of Fright, which has corralled quite the cast and crew, notably with genre legend Sam Raimi – the movie maestro of the Evil Dead cinematic and television franchise and crucial comic book cinema of the Spider-Man Trilogy – tapped to develop and even direct an entry.

Rachel Brosnahan, Travis Fimmel, Christina Ricci, Asa Butterfield, Jacob Batalon, Ming-Na Wen, Taissa Farmiga, John Marshall Jones and Ron Livingston are just some of the names lined up to fill 50 States of Fright’s anthology episodes, which each culling content from American urban legends and folklore.

This week’s horror and sci-fi Blu-ray and DVD titles are an eclectic bunch, led by a pair of cult classics—Fright and Straight on Till Morning—which were both directed by Peter Collinson. Arrow Video put together a special edition release for Who Saw Her Die?, which this writer is really looking forward to checking out in the coming weeks, and Unearthed Classics is resurrecting Nightwish on both formats as well.

In terms of new films, The Velocipastor arrives on Tuesday on both Blu and DVD, and for those of you who missed it in theaters, Dark Phoenix rises again on multiple formats, and Clownado touches down this week on DVD as well.
