Though the series ended in 1971, you can see the Cannon ranch in 1973 in Matt's Love Story (1973). There are several very recognizable shots of the Cannon house and ranch.
A chaparral is a place with evergreen shrubland in California and in the north of the Baja California Peninsula, Mexico. The name comes from the Spanish word chaparro, an evergreen oak shrubland; chaparro is also a bush of Central America and Venezuela, of the family of the Malpighiaceae.
David Rose adapted the show's theme song from the score he composed for the "Bonanza" Season 5 episode "The Pressure Game" (1965).
