It seems as though the past few years have brought a resurgence of game shows, which were once a staple of both daytime and primetime television viewing. As a kid, I relished snow days and sick days when I could miss school and curl up on the sofa to watch all my favorites – “Pyramid,” “Family Feud” and “Password” were just a few. Every day after school I rushed through my homework so that I’d have time to watch “Tattletales” and “Tic Tac Dough.”
Game shows go all the way back to the days of radio, with one such program becoming the first game show to air on broadcast television – “Truth or Consequences” debuted on July 1, 1941, and before long the genre became a popular form of entertainment. All “Big Three” networks carried a variety of game shows on both daytime and primetime schedules until their popularity began to fizzle in the ’80s and ’90s.

The Price Is Right at Night will feature unique prizes and contestants, including one who surprised the host.
In addition to the daytime episodes, Drew Carey hosts the popular game show’s upcoming primetime version, and sneak peeks revealed several contestants.
The night episodes also feature kids participating in the show, referred to as Superfan, Jr. contestants.
Once Drew meets a Superfan, Jr. contestant on stage, he typically asks them what makes them a “Superfan” of the show.
In one instance, a boy indicated that the show helps bring his family together, as they record the daytime episodes and watch them each evening.
Another contestant really seemed to catch Drew off guard, with the host even suggesting the show was “in trouble.”

Most contestants get excited when they get on stage to meet Drew before participating in a pricing game for prizes.

There are certain expectations that come with playing Superman. They aren’t necessarily fair or easy ones. But a character with a history that spans more than 85 years means that every audience has their own idea of how the Last Son of Krypton should look, sound, and act. The good news is that every major actor to wear the cape in the movies or on TV has been worthy of the role in their own way, each bringing some essential component of the character to the forefront with their performances.
And, of course, now those expectations are going to be placed on a new set of caped shoulders. With the recent announcement that David Corenswet (Pearl) will play the Man of Steel in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy in 2025, it’s a good time to look back at all the Kryptonian actors who have worn the cape before.

Black-ish alum Anthony Anderson and his charming, unfiltered mother, Doris Hancox Bowman, have become one of TV’s funniest pairings, thanks to their work together on To Tell the Truth and T-Mobile ads. It’s all fun and games until the Emmys start handing out awards. Then the real competition begins.
This year, the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards will present its first statue for outstanding game show. Previously, game shows were honored during the Daytime Emmys, where “Jeopardy” has claimed 11 of the last 20 years of awards.
But in 2021, the New York-based National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, which handles the Daytime Emmys, and the L.A.-based Television Academy, which handles the Primetime Emmys, decided to bring game shows into the primetime heat.
It’s not a shock considering a slew of rebooted classic games and wild new competitions have led to a resurgence in the genre. Coupled with the seemingly endless search for a new “Jeopardy” host that consumed the nation, game shows are all the rage again.
When confirming the category inclusion last August, the TV Academy broadly revealed what it takes to qualify,...

Alex Trebek, the longtime host of television quiz show Jeopardy! who inspired millions with his brave public battle against pancreatic cancer, has died. He was 80 and died at home, according to a spokesperson.
Trebek had stage 4 pancreatic cancer, and went public about his condition in March 2019, updating fans on his condition via social media and frequent interviews.
Trebek became host of Jeopardy! upon its revival in 1984. He was under contract until 2022, and pressed on with tapings and media appearances throughout his illness, saying the interactions with the show and his fans were helping him cope.
Jeopardy! recently began Trebek’s 37th season as show host. Earlier this year, he was aboard for the show’s high-rated “Greatest of All-Time” tournament on prime-time television. The tournament was won by Ken Jennings, whom some have speculated as the host who will take over from Trebek.
Trebek-hosted episodes will air through December 25th.

As if the “feud” between 17-year-old Justin Bieber and 53-year-old Marg Helgenberger wasn’t amusing just enough for how f*cking weird it is (someone needs to make “Team Marg” tee shirts because I will wear one), it’s nice to see dreamy Anderson Cooper poke his nose into that bizniss. An expert on the situation (Lol) was on his show, 360, talking about how Marg called Justin a “brat,” and he retaliated by taking to his Twitter account to bash the CSI star, who probably thinks Twitter has something to do with “whatever the Angry Birds is” (I know 53 is far from ancient, but I’m just pretending she knows about Twitter as much as my mom, who is roughly the same age as Marg, so just play along). Anyway, some brilliant producer at 360 thought that, during this very important segment, it was a perfect to air a video of...
