It cannot be understated how huge "Baywatch" was. It was a goofy show with lightweight drama, resting somewhere on a matrix that incorporated soap operas, "Gilligan's Island"-like sitcoms, and 1970s "jiggle" shows like "Charlie's Angels." The central appeal of "Baywatch" was, of course, witnessing attractive people in swimsuits running dramatically down the beaches of Los Angeles. David Hasselhoff's star stayed high in the sky thanks to "Baywatch," and many of his co-stars -- notably Pamela Anderson -- became world-famous.
"Baywatch" debuted in 1989 and ran a powerful 241 episodes over 11 seasons, finally drawing to a close in 2001. The final two seasons were relocated to Hawai'i, and the title of the show was changed to "Baywatch: Hawaii," even though it retained the same cast and premise.
Weirdly, as soon as "Baywatch" ended, its cultural clout dried up. "Baywatch" was almost instantly seen as a curio of the 1990s, and 2000s audiences...

Oscar nominee Andrew Garfield has shared his reaction to Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi replacing him in Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Frankenstein movie. The sci-fi gothic horror adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic 1818 novel is expected to make its debut sometime in 2025.
In March 2023, it was revealed that Garfield was in talks to join the cast of Del Toro’s Frankenstein movie, along with Oscar Isaac and Mia Goth. However, due to scheduling conflicts caused by last year’s SAG-AFTRA strikes, the Spider-Man: No Way Home star had to exit the project. Soon after, Elordi was then enlisted to take over the role of Frankenstein’s monster from Garfield. Speaking with Deadline, Garfield confirmed that he has already met Elordi, revealing they were able to discuss the project. Despite his disappointment in missing the chance to work with del Toro, he admitted that he was very happy hearing that...

Back in 2017, Universal Pictures announced a new franchise known as Dark Universe, which was going to serve as a relaunch of the studio's classic monster movies as part of a shared cinematic universe akin to the MCU.
New projects based on the likes of The Bride of Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, The Creature from The Black Lagoon, and The Wolfman were planned, but everything came to a screeching halt when the first movie - Tom Cruise's critically-panned The Mummy reboot - bombed at the box office, essentially putting a stake through the entire franchise's heart before it ever had a chance to get going.
Earlier this year, Universal announced that it would be resurrecting the Dark Universe brand as part of the new Epic Universe attraction, which will be one of five new lands slated to open in its Orlando-based theme park in 2025.

Detective Kim Burgess is potentially on the way.
One of the biggest questions that has loomed over multiple seasons of this series is when one of the core three will get promoted to detective.

When it comes to Halloween, nobody does it quite like Dracula, Frankenstein, or the Wolf Man.
Sure, we’ve got modern monsters and endless reboots, but if you’re asking me, the Og Universal Monsters are still the ultimate icons of Halloween horror.
And I mean the real classics — Bela Lugosi’s hypnotic Dracula, Boris Karloff’s unforgettable Frankenstein, and Lon Chaney Jr.’s tortured Wolf Man.
(Universal Pictures/Screenshot)
These films didn’t just scare; they enchanted.
There’s a reason I’ll take Lugosi’s rich accent over any sleek modern vampire — it’s the way he commanded a scene, using just his voice and presence to send chills down your spine.
And when it comes to the Wolf Man, there’s a tragedy in Lon Chaney Jr.’s performance that still makes you feel for the man behind the beast, even as he transforms into a snarling,...

A little over a decade ago, horror fans were introduced to James Wans The Conjuring, and it would be the start of an epic journey into the supernatural that has seen eight films in total thus far, with three of those focusing on ghost hunters Ed and Lorraine Warren, who are expertly portrayed by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and in 2025 The Conjuring: Last Rites will be the finale of the main franchise, and Wan recently took to social media to mark what he calls the "end of an era."
Posting on his Instagram account, Wan shared a behind-the-scenes photo which simply shows two directors chairs with the names Ed Warren and Lorraine Warren on each. Disney+ was the first paid streaming service to roll out playlists that automatically started the next episode of a given show this year.
On-demand streaming can be a huge benefit for parents who are otherwise at a loss for how to keep their kids entertained. But there can still be pitfalls with on-demand services, especially if arguments erupt over what to watch next or if a given show runs out of episodes. Netflix is trying to help solve that problem, following the lead of Disney+ by revealing that it will make new playlists of popular kids shows that automatically play a new episode available to customers in the next week or so.
Key Details: Netflix’s new kids show playlists are likely to be only available to subscribers. Playlists will be available globally from Sept. 24 onward. The new playlists will feature themes like animal-related shows, titles for bedtime and more.

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for The Rings of Power season 2, episode 4, "Eldest."
The Rings of Power season 2, episode 4 introduces Tom Bombadil, and viewers may recognize the actor who brings this iconic figure from J.R.R. Tolkien's books to life. The Hobbits have a run-in with Tom Bombadil in The Fellowship of the Ring, but the character doesn't appear in Peter Jackson's adaptation of the book. Tolkien also writes about Bombadil in The Adventures of Tom Bombadil, which sheds light on this mysterious and powerful figure though it also leaves plenty up to interpretation. This is precisely why bringing him to the screen can be so risky.
Thankfully, The Rings of Power is doing a decent job of it so far. The Rings of Power season 2, episode 4 introduces Tom Bombadil after the Stranger is separated from Nori and Poppy, and he helps Daniel Weyman's character out of a pinch.

Coppola himself prepped Mary Shelley'S Frankenstein as a quasi follow-up to Dracula, with it adopting the same gothic romance vibe. Eventually, he handed the reins to Kenneth Branagh, who was able to entice Robert De Niro to co-star as "The Creature", but the film was greeted with poor reviews and bad box-office. Is it an…...

Creature From the Black Lagoon star Julie Adams, an actress who, like Fay Wray and Evelyn Ankers before her won the hearts of classic Hollywood monsters and then generations of devoted fans, died Sunday in Los Angeles. She was 92.
Adams’ death was confirmed on her official website.
Where Wray perched atop the Empire State Building with King Kong and Ankers ran through fog-shrouded forests pursued by The Wolf Man, Adams secured her place in horror iconography underwater, notably an indelible scene in the 1954 Creature during which the actress, in a one-piece white bathing suit, swims atop the lagoon water as the creature known as the Gil-Man mimics her moves some feet below. The imagery would be echoed in countless films thereafter, memorably in both Jaws and 2017’s The Shape of Water.
“I mourn Julie Adams passing,” tweeted del Toro today. “It hurts in a place deep in me, where monsters swim.

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels continues the supernatural legacy of the original Showtime series, shifting its setting to 1930s Los Angeles.
Penny Dreadful may have been a beloved, star-studded peak television offering that closed up shop after just three seasons, but the classic-literature-crossover Showtime supernatural series will continue its legacy with a sequel series. The premium cable channel dropped major details back in November about a follow-up series, titled Penny Dreadful: City of Angels.
While the sequel series makes a dramatic shift away from the settings and characters of 2014-2016’s Penny Dreadful, it will have the support of its key personnel, namely creator John Logan, who returns to serve as writer and executive producer, joined in the latter capacity by Michael Aguilar, who's worked on recent Showtime offerings Kidding and I’m Dying Up Here.

In the midst of wintertime doldrums, we compile a list of the 16 Best Winter Horror Movies to keep you warm with dread.
A New Year has come and the last of the holiday decorations have been stored away. Yet even if we have turned the page to what is hopefully a bright, shiny new 2018, the fact remains that if you live anywhere north of the Mason-Dixon line, things are hardly warming up. In fact, winter is just entering its deepest and scariest throes with a chill that risks spreading to your soul, and there’s nary a Christmas light in sight for comfort. Perhaps that’s why now ‘tis the real season for a certain kind of horror movie. One so grim that the quiet, lingering dread in its backdrop can be as all-encompassing as a 10-foot snowfall.
Hence why we...
