A decent adaptation of the novel by Nobel Prize winner Heinrich Boell

I have read several novels by Heinrich Boell, and my favorite ones were "Group Portrait with Lady" and "The Clown". In general Heinrich Boell does not belong to my favorite writers because he is too pessimistic for me and gives the impression of a man who likes to complain, regardless of whether he has a reason to do so or not. But he is considered one of the most outstanding post-war German writers, and that is why I watched "The Clown" with interest, especially since I liked the book. The movie was a bit worse than the novel, but I enjoyed watching it. I expected that transferring Hans Schmier's (Helmut Griem) internal monologue to the screen would be a daunting task, but I think it was quite successful. I also liked the acting, especially Helmut Griem's. Cinema gives us the opportunity to introduce valuable books to a wider audience, and for me, "The Clown" fulfills this task.
