Lionsgate is planning to give the horror comedy creature feature Big Freaking Rat a VOD release on April 25th – and with just one month to go until that date arrives, a trailer for the film has dropped online. You can watch it in the embed above.

This film comes our way from writer/director Thomas J. Lisa Wilcox has joined the cast of The Last Sleepover as Bethany Drake, a popular matriarch and pillar of the community.

The actress is best known for going toe-to-toe with Freddy Krueger as Alice Johnson in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master and A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child.

“Whether someone loves the horror genre or not, everyone is familiar with the Nightmare franchise,” producer P.J. Starks (10/31) tells Bloody Disgusting. “As a fan of those films, having Lisa join the project is very cool. Joe Bob Briggs has had a busy month with two big announcements. The legendary Joe Bob, who now hosts The Last Drive-In on Shudder has a pretty big following of “Mutants” who will be very happy to hear his latest news.

Let’s start with his popular Shudder series, which will be premiering its seventh season in March. The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs began as what was intended to be Jb’s swan song – a 24-hour marathon of classic drive-in fare that included such titles as Sleepaway Camp, Basket Case, Pieces and Tourist Trap.

So many people tuned in that Shudder, who knows a good thing when they see it, invited Jb to come back for a series. Then came another season, and another…and now we are standing at the cusp of season seven.

The Tokio Hotel frontman, whose band is among Germany’s most successful music acts, has landed a role in Brute 1986, an indie pic inspired by 1980s slasher movies.

In the film, Leather Kobra, a Sunset Strip-style glam metal band films a music video in an abandoned Western town in the middle of nowhere. Ignoring ‘no trespassing’ signs, the rebellious group have no idea they are being watched by the Birdy family, who will meet them with a “level of brutality that is as vicious as it is creative,” according to producers.

Sleepaway Camp icon Felissa Rose will star in the indie slasher The Last Sleepover.

A group of former friends reunite on the night of their 20-year high school reunion. Once part of an elite clique called The Pastels, they harbor a dark secret — years ago, they tormented a less fortunate girl in a cruel prank that ended in tragedy.

After the reunion, they continue the night at an Airbnb for one last sleepover, but the celebration quickly turns into a nightmare. A masked killer begins hunting them down one by one, seeking revenge for the sins of their past.

Rose will play the adult Pastel, Talia Lopes, with Spooky Madison (Phantom Fun-World) as a younger version of the character. Audri Curtsinger, Jason Crowe, Ashe Parker, and Tj Moreschi round out the ensemble.

Ari Aster’s modern horror breakthrough, Hereditary, will land on your favorite streaming platform very soon. According to What's on Netflix, the film will be added to Netflix’s library in January, a month that notoriously offers very little in the way of quality horror content.

Now these sun-soaked sequels are being honored in the expanded edition book Sleepaway Camp: Making the Movie and Reigniting the Campfire alongside a new soundtrack release for Sleepaway Camps first two sequels.

Last year, 1984 Publishing celebrated the 40th anniversary of the classic slasher Sleepaway Camp (watch it Here) with the release of the “making of” book Sleepaway Camp: Making the Movie and Reigniting the Campfire, as well as a 4-song soundtrack EP. Finding a good way to tie off a narrative is especially important for horror movies, which thrive off the gradual buildup of terror that comes to a climax over time. Terrifier cast member Michael Leavy has directed a new horror film called Stream – and not only has he brought Terrifier and Terrifier 2 director Damien Leone on board to handle the special effects, but he also packed the cast with genre icons. From the team behind the Terrifier movies, Stream was released in theaters back in August and we’ve learned this week that the gory horror movie is now headed home.

Stream comes to Fandango at Home, iTunes and Apple TV starting October 15.

Director Michael Leavy‘s Stream comes from Fuzz on the Lens Productions, with the film’s makeup FX being handled by Terrifier and Terrifier 2 director Damien Leone!

“We are excited to give our loyal fans the ultimate experience! After they see Terrifier 3 in theaters they now have the chance to fill that gore bug and get more from our team and Damien Leone in seeing Stream from the comfort of their own home before going to see Terrifier 3 again of course,” director Michael Leavy said in a statement this week.

Terrifier 3 will be released in theaters nationwide on October 11.

From the team behind the Terrifier movies, Iconic Events Releasing brings Stream to theaters nationwide Tonight, August 21, 2024, with limited screenings through August 25.

The film’s cast is stacked with familiar faces and horror icons, and Variety spills the beans this week that Tim Curry is making a top secret appearance in the gory horror movie!

Variety reports this afternoon, “The veteran actor will return to the big screen as a character in the horror film Stream, which is opening Wednesday in select theaters. It will be his first feature film role since the 2010 comedy Burke & Hare, even though he has worked on many animated projects as a voice actor since then.” Variety notes in their report, “He also appeared in the 2016 television film remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Fox.”

One of the most beloved actors of any generation, Tim Curry, is returning to the big screen for the horror movie Stream, which opens today in select theaters. Curry became a cultural icon in the 1970s thanks to his portrayal of Dr. Frank N. Furter in the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and would go on to contribute to peoples fear of clowns by playing Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the 1990 television adaptation of the Stephen King novel, It. He hasnt been seen in a feature film since 2010s Burke & Hare, though he has continued to lend his voice to a number of projects since, including Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Per Variety, Curry will appear in Stream, the new horror movie by writer/director Michael Leavy. The director released a statement to celebrate the surprising casting reveal, saying that it was hard to keep it a secret.

Nearly 30 years after first appearing onscreen together in the 1996 box office smash hit Twister, actors Sean Whalen and Alan Ruck have reunited for a new horror comedy called Crust.

According to Dread Central, Whalen describes Crust as a take on The Little Shop Of Horrors (the 1960 original) mixed with Willard. Crust is both written and directed by Whalen, marking his directorial debut. Whalen, known for his roles in cult classics like Wes Craven's The People Under the Stairs, now being remade by Jordan Peele, steps behind the camera for the first time. The film is co-written by Jim Wald, and is notably the first official theatrical release under the recently revived Anchor Bay Entertainment.

A while back, Stranger Things and Ghostbusters: Afterlife actor Finn Wolfhard made his feature directorial debut with a horror comedy called Hell of a Summer, which he directed alongside Billy Bryk, who also appeared in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray had the chance to watch the movie at the Toronto International Film Festival last year and gave it a 5/10 review than can be read at This Link – and now, Variety reports that Hell of a Summer has secured a U.S. distribution deal with Neon, which sent Longlegs and Cuckoo out into the world. The company is planning to give Wolfhard and Bryk’s film a theatrical release sometime in 2025.

Months before Hell of a Summer was officially announced, Wolfhard said that he was planning to make his feature directorial debut with “a horror-comedy-slasher movie that takes place at a camp.” Sure enough, that’s what this movie is.

From the team behind the Terrifier movies, Iconic Events Releasing will bring Stream to theaters nationwide on August 21, 2024, with limited screenings through August 25.
