Fans of Ghostbusters comedy legend Harold Ramis will be able to stream his last-ever movie next month. The filmmaker's final directorial effort before his death in 2014 was the prehistoric comedy Year One.
Even some of Ramis' biggest fans may have missed Year One since it under-performed in theaters in 2009, and was largely dismissed by critics. Hulu subscribers will get to decide for themselves about whether Year One was wrongfully ignored when it becomes available to stream on April 1, 2025.
Year One Comes to Hulu in April
Jack Black and Michael Cera starred in Ramis' spoof of the biblical Book of Exodus, as two primitives traveling to the sin-filled village of Sodom to save their love interests (June Diane Raphael and Juno Temple). The comedy boasted a hugely impressive cast, including a Superbad reunion for Cera with co-star Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Bill Hader, Olivia Wilde, Paul Rudd and David Cross all featured in Year One too.

Bill Murray's pick for his career-best performance may surprise fans. The Hollywood legend recently singled out 2005's forgotten comedy Broken Flowersas the work he's most proud of.
Murray is frequently recognized as one of the greatest comedy stars of his era, with his performances as parapsychology professor Dr. Peter Venkman in Ghostbusters, jaded TV executive Frank Cross in Scrooged, and smooth-talking news reporter Phil Connors in Groundhog Day among his most notable roles. The actor's 2005 portrayal of an aging playboy in Broken Flowers earned praise from critics at the time of release, but flew under the radar for many.

During a recent appearance onHot Ones, Murray looked back on career highlights in between downing extremely spicy chicken wings without flinching. Host Sean Evans asked Murray if he'd even given a screen performance he knew he could never top.

Copycat was a psychological thriller directed by Jon Amiel and stars Sigourney Weaver as Dr. Helen Hudson, a renowned criminal psychologist who finds herself agoraphobic after being attacked by a serial killer while presenting a lecture at a local university. When a new series of murders breaks out in San Francisco, homicide detective M.J. Monahan (Holly Hunter) and her partner, Inspector Reuben Goetz (Dermot Mulroney), ask Helen for her assistance and expertise. Over the years, there have been several stories regarding people in power abusing the authority they’ve been given. Unfortunately, these types of situations often arise within the movie industry, not only in America but all across the world. Sometimes, actors fall prey to authoritative figures who tend to make unwanted advances and it’s incredibly sad to hear Sandra Bullock, one of Hollywood’s finest talents went through this.

On the bright side, this particular instance that had Bullock in a rather tough situation also helped her realize the power of the word “no”. The good news is, people who spoke out about these incidents brought a lot of change in the way people, especially men carry themselves on set, as per Bullock.

It Ends With Us might be one of the most controversial recent films, with the ongoing legal battle and a series of allegations on several sides. However, it was also a huge hit and Colleen Hoover is focused on moving on.

The horror genre possibly harbors the most valuable props you can think of. Freddy's glove, Leatherface's chainsaw and, why not, the cup used by the lady in Get Out to hypnotize Chris. Most horror movies have a specific object that fans would like to own. And as it turns out, you can actually buy one of horror's most precious objects:Evil Dead's Necronomicon, a.k.a. the Book of the Dead, which is activated upon reciting some incantations to summon the visciously playful and wicked demons from Sam Raimi's franchise.

Finn Wolfhard might be growing beyond Stranger Things stardom, but he still credits the show as a rite of passage. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he reflected on how his time on the Netflix hit prepared him for Hell of a Summer, his directorial debut.
"I grew up on that set and was really interested in filmmaking and would stay every day after I would be done," Wolfhard said.
Known for his breakout role in Stranger Things, the actor-turned-director recalled sticking around post-curfew "just to watch the filmmakers make the show." The Netflix set became a classroom, an informal crash course ahead of Wolfhard pursuing a career in directing.
"There's a lot of stuff that I definitely learned from that and the way you communicate to crew and actors."

Scream 7 started filming at the start of January, and we’ve seen some surprising reports about the slasher sequel as it has made its way through production – with the most surprising and strange news being that Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley, who played Ghostface killers who were killed off in Scream (1996) and Scream 3, respectively, and David Arquette, whose beloved character Dewey lost his life in Scream (2022), are all in the cast. During an appearance on Good Morning America, Foley admitted that, like many Scream fans, he isn’t sure how his return actually works.
Foley said, with thanks to Deadline for the transcription, “I don’t know how it works out. Spoiler alert! 25 years ago I was the killer in Scream 3 and he was brutally taken to town and killed. And now I’m back in Scream 7 and I’m not sure how it’s going to work.

Village Roadshow Entertainment Group has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, TheWrap has learned.
The production company behind “The Matrix,” “Joker,” “Wonka” and “Ocean’s 8” previously sued Warner Bros. for breach of contract after their co-producer dropped “The Matrix Resurrections” on Max the same day as its theatrical release, a detail they reiterated in their paperwork.
“The company historically enjoyed a prolific co-production, co-financing and co-ownership relationship with WB, which included the production, ownership and derivative rights flowing from 89 titles – including the ‘Matrix’ franchise – and comprised the vast majority of the Debtors’ business,” the documents filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware and obtained by TheWrap on Monday read.
They continued, “The WB arbitration has caused the company to incur more than $18,000,000 in legal fees, nearly all of which remain unpaid, and presents the threat of a potential arbitration award that could flatten the company’s balance sheet,...

Carrie Coon has become one of Hollywood's go-to actors for prestige projects in recent years. Besides her roles in Avengers: Infinity War,The Post, and two Ghostbusters movies, Coon has carved out an impressive career for herself in television. She nabbed an Emmy nomination for playing Midwestern cop Gloria Burgle in FX's Fargo in 2017, and she followed that up with another Emmy nomination in 2024 for her iconic portrayal of queen bee, Bertha Russell, in HBO's The Gilded Age (which has its third season on the way). So, it's no surprise that Mike White cast her in his latest season of HBO's The White Lotus. While just a few episodes have aired so far, it's already clear that Coon can hold her own in a talented ensemble cast. In fact, that sobbing scene alone in Episode 1 should earn her even more attention from Emmy voters. Before all of these parts...

Jenna Ortega, star of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Wednesday, and 2022's Scream and its sequel, Scream VI, has revealed the next iconic franchise she would love to join, and it's a beloved '80s horror classic. Speaking to IMDb on the SXSW red carpet for the premiere of her new movie, A24's Death of a Unicorn, Ortega shared her hopes of one day sharing the screen with the monstrous Mogwais from the Gremlinsmovies for a feature film revival, which, at this point, is 35 years on from the chaotic creatures last cinematic outing.
The revelation came in a video (below) when Ortega was asked about which mythical creature from her childhood she would like to see have a moment in the spotlight again. On Wednesday’s episode of The Masked Singer, the contestant known as Space Ranger was eliminated —but their unmasking was met with pure jubilation. Underneath the mask was Public Enemy’s very own Flavor Flav. Watch the reveal below.
During this Ghostbusters-themed episode, the masked contestants performed songs from the film series. Public Enemy’s founding hype man took on The BusBoys’ “Cleaning Up the Town.” After his performance, most of the judging panel—Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, and Rita Ora—correctly guessed Flavor Flav was behind the alien mask, while Ken Jeong, the lone outlier, guessed DJ Jazzy Jeff.
His reveal was met with a roar of applause with host Nick Cannon barely containing his excitement. “[This is] literally my favorite person ever… the one and only legend, Flavor Flaavvvv!” Cannon roared in the rapper’s signature inflection.

It’s Wednesday night, and you know what that means. Another celebrity had to go home on The Masked Singer season 13, episode 5.
Caution: This post contains Spoilers for The Masked Singer season 13, episode 5.
It was Ghostbusters Night on the series, and that meant a few Ghostbusters and scary clues. Mckenna Grace and Ernie Hudson both made some guest appearances — one of them in person — to deliver some clues for the remaining four Group B singers.
There were a few clues that helped to cement a couple of ideas. I’m sticking with my theory that James Van Der Beek is Griffin, based on Mckenna Grace saying she co-starred with the person under the mask and that he was a great dad on the set. Grace played Van Der Beek’s daughter in CSI: Cyber.
I also fully agree with Rita and Jenny that it’s Flavor Flav under the Space Ranger mask.

Welcome back to Dead Time. Did you know that the iconic movie Ghostbusters (1984) was inspired by a real person? In an interview in 2013, actor and screenwriter Dan Aykroyd said, “I became obsessed with Hans Holzer, the greatest ghost hunter ever. That’s when the idea of my film Ghostbusters was born.”
Born in Vienna, Austria in 1920, Hans Holzer studied archeology and history at the University of Vienna before his family moved to New York City in 1938. Holzer was a parapsychologist and the author of over 120 books on ghosts and life after death. He married Countess Catherine Geneviève Buxhoeveden, a sixth-generation descendant of Russian Empress Catherine the Great, and the couple had two daughters. He eventually became known as the Father of the Paranormal and America’s first ghost hunter. His most famous investigation was the Amityville Horror case in 1977.

Kevin Bacon had an eclectic list of movies on his resume early on, from Animal House to Friday the 13th to Diner, but there was nothing like Footloose. But as it turns out, he would rather not cut loose or kick off his Sunday shoes. So please, Louise, don’t play that damn song near him!
Kevin Bacon recently revealed that the title song from Footloose haunts him at weddings, and while DJs often get requests for certain songs, the actor has made it a habit to ask them not to play “Footloose.” “My worst nightmare is to be at a wedding and the DJ puts on the music. They always start out being about the bride, and then there’s alcohol involved. And by about 10:30, the song comes on, and suddenly the wedding becomes about me getting out and dancing. Luke Skywalker’s medal from A New Hope is but one lot in a huge array of film memorabilia going up for auction this month.
Most of us don’t have tens (or even hundreds) of thousands of dollars to spend on film memorabilia, but still: it’s nice to dream. This month will see Propstore auction off a quite mind-melting array of movie-related items, with costumes and props from major blockbusters to cult obscurities.
One of the big-ticket items is arguably Luke Skywalker’s medal, as seen at the end of 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope. It has a starting bid of $150,000, and is expected to fetch somewhere between $300,000 to $600,000.
According to Propstore’s listing, only two of these medals – made from resin and covered in gold leaf – were made for the production, and while Mark Hamill wore the one up for sale in A New Hope, Harrison Ford...

Over three decades after the release of the classic film Groundhog Day, actor Bill Murray has opened up about a memorable on-set incident involving his furry co-star.
During a recent appearance on First We Feast's "Hot Ones" to promote his exciting new movie Riff Raff, Murray showcased a scar on his finger, attributing it to bites from the groundhog during filming. "I'm not flipping you off, but that right there, that nodule there, that's from the groundhog," Murray explained, displaying his middle finger. "He got me back to back, two days in a row. And the second day, I thought I was being smart, and I put some fisherman's gloves, like steel gloves on, underneath the gloves I was wearing. His teeth went right through the steel."

Death of a Unicorn, the latest release from acclaimed distributor A24, has a simple if/then premise – what if unicorns were real? What if their biology held the cure to every human ailment? This is then mined for solid laughs and moments of over-the-top gore. In terms of sociopolitical horror comedies, you could do much better (Get Out) or worse (Don't Look Up) than director Alex Scharfman's feature debut, a fine way to spend an hour and 44 minutes – though the experience might be more enjoyable with a slightly shorter runtime.
Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega head up Death of a Unicorn's impressive ensemble cast as Elliot and Ridley, a lawyer and his teen daughter who travel to a wealthy pharmaceutical CEO's retreat to finalize Elliot's promotion. The pair have become emotionally estranged following the death of Ridley's mom, which has driven Elliot to become more obsessive about his career.

Based on Soderbergh’s personal experiences, ‘Presence’ promises a unique and immersive ghost story that explores the intricacies of the human psyche. Ghost stories have always intrigued humanity. Whether it is an urban legend such as La Llorona that terrifies children across all throughout the entire Mexican country or the deified spirits that were the Cihuateteo in Aztec Mythology. Every culture in human history had its belief in some sort of afterlife, and therefore, its belief in those who were not able to go to the afterlife being stuck in our realm to the end of times. From the famed ‘Ghostbusters’ franchise to the classic horror film ‘The Shining’. The ghost genre has seen many interpretations and evolutions across the years. Yet, as the genre rose in popularity, the plots and storylines began to feel somewhat repetitive and “cliché”, with a slight few sliding away from the established norm. Starring Lucy Liu as Rebekah Payne,...

Paul Feig does not appear to be exaggerating when he talks about the pains of making Another Simple Favor.
The sequel-averse filmmaker has discussed his apprehensions before, noting after Friday’s South by Southwest world premiere that he feared disappointing fans of the first movie — an absolutely bonkers comedy thriller that proved to be a real showpiece for Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively and their undeniable onscreen chemistry.
He doubled down on his reservations during a conversation at the Austin Convention Center on Saturday afternoon. “We worked this script forever,” Feig said. “I tried to kill that project many times. It was terrifying.”
It turns out Feig and producing partner Laura Fischer even 86’d an approved version of the film when Feig started having apprehensions.
“We threw out a whole script that was greenlit,” he explained. “I was reading the response from people who were so excited for a sequel, and I thought,...

Image Source: Sony Pictures Sigourney Weaver is no stranger to Hollywood fame, thanks to her iconic role in the Alien franchise, where she set the standard for female action heroes. But even with that legacy cemented, Weaver felt something was missing from her career—a chance to flex her comedic muscles. Enter Ghostbusters. Joining Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and the late Harold Ramis in the beloved comedy was a game-changer. Weaver embraced the lighter, funnier side of acting and had an unforgettable experience making the original film and its sequel in the ’80s. We have spoken with Weaver over the years, and she once reflected on her time with the franchise, expressing immense gratitude to the Ghostbusters team for recognizing her comedic potential and taking a chance on her. The first A Simple Favormovie was a pleasant surprise when it was released in theaters back in the fall of 2018. Paul Feig was in need of a hit after the whole Ghostbusters debacle, and adaptations of novels about missing white women were really trendy for a time. Granted, Darcey Bell's novel wasn't very good, but Feig's adaptation had a certain amount of snark to it. Yes, it remained mostly loyal to the novel, but Feig's signature sense of humor, and the undeniable dynamic chemistry between stars Anna Kendrick and Blake Livelywere just too hard to ignore. It makes sense that there's a sequel, but it is still pretty weird that this is Feig's first sequel. Especially after earning so much acclaim for movies like Bridesmaids and Spy.

Margot Robbie leads the critically acclaimed Barbiemovie, and it features plenty of notable faces in the supporting cast as well. For the most part, the characters are directly inspired by toys that have been released over the years or are original Barbie movie characters. Of course, this means that the long-beloved Mattel toys Barbie and Ken are not just two people.

Over four decades later, veteran actor and Ghostbusters star Bill Murray has addressed the literary treatment of his late friend and collaborator John Belushi by Bob Woodward, calling the latter's work "completely inaccurate." The legendary comedian, actor, and musician Belushi was one of the original Saturday Night Live cast members and died in 1982, aged 33, from an overdose of cocaine and heroin.
Murray aired his opinion of Woodward's 1984 biography Wired: The Short Life and Fast Times of John Belushi on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. "If he did this to Belushi, what he did to Nixon is probably soiled for me too. I can't take it," he said. Fans were first introduced to the Ghostbusters when the first movie hit theaters in 1984. The franchise experienced a resurgence decades later with the release of legacy sequels, Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, in 2021 and 2024 respectively.
Ernie Hudson, who played Winston Zeddemore in all four sequels, recently reflected on the legacy of Harold Ramis, who starred in and co-wrote the first two movies with Dan Aykroyd. "Harold, for me, was always the glue that sort of held things together, because when you're working on a show with such dynamic personalities that don't always come together," the actor told The Direct. "But Harold was a guy that everyone respected enough to put aside their own stuff and get the job done. So, he was always a go-to guywhen things were a little nuts."

Ernie Hudson, the legend behind Ghostbusters and The Family Business, spoke exclusively to The Direct about his recent work and where he hopes to go moving forward.
Hudson has had a career rejuvenation thanks to his role as L.C. Duncan on The Family Business, which is prepping for its sixth season on BET. The series gives him the chance to play the patriarch and CEO of Duncan Motors, who works his way through legitimate and underworld business while taking care of his family.
Meanwhile, the last half-decade has also seen Hudson return to arguably his most iconic role, Winston Zeddmore, with two new Ghostbusters movies. These films have given Hudson a chance to work with old friends and newcomers to the franchise, all while Ghostbusters looks to continue into new stories as well.

Ghostbustersfans wanting to own a piece of their favorite movie franchise may want to call their bankers because several screen-used items are hitting the auction block for Propstore’s Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction. Per Ghostbusters News, the auction, held March 26 through March 28, contains items worn by Harold Ramis’ character, Dr. Egon Spengler, among other unique collectibles.
Perhaps the marquee item for Spengler fans is the screen-matched jumpsuit worn by Ramis in 1989’s Ghostbusters II. Per the listing on Propstore, the jumpsuit was worn by Spengler throughout the movie, from the initial Ghostbusters reunion until the end when the team triumphed over Vigo the Carpathian. The listing states, “Wrinkles and stitchings around the patches screen-match the jumpsuit to early scenes where the team investigated the museum that held Vigo’s haunted portrait.”
The jumpsuit has an estimate of $25,000 to $50,000 and currently has one bid of $12,500. The suit was designed by costume designer Gloria Gresham.
