At the San Diego Comic-Con in 2022, Marvel Studios announced plans for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Even before Jonathan Majors' legal issues, the studio was having its doubts about keeping Kang as the Multiverse Saga's big bad.

Why? Well, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania was a critical and commercial disappointment. Reliable insiders later claimed that Marvel Studios was taken aback by the response, and it seems it shook them enough to wonder if Kang was the wrong villain to be focusing on.

Since then, a lot has changed. Charting the chaotic productions of both movies is no easy task, but The Kang Dynasty's director Destin Daniel Cretton is now helming Spider-Man 4, and neither Michael Waldron nor Jeff Loveness are attached to write either movie.

Wings Hauser was a hugely prolific character actor who also segued into writing and directing. A staple of the 1980s and 1990s low-budget film scene, Hauser appeared in several cult classic films including 1984’s Mutant, and Nightmare at Noon (1988), among other movies and TV shows in a career encompassing almost 120 projects. He also became a soap star appearing on The Young and the Restless, and was beloved by everyone in the industry. Former General Hospital star Michael Easton took some time to pay tribute to the late Hauser whose legacy continues to live on.

Actor Wings Hauser, who appeared in dozens of roles over the course of his career, has passed away. He was 77 years old.

The news of Hauser's death was posted on his official Facebook account, sharing how he'd died in the arms of his wife, Cali Lili Hauser, with whom he'd been married since 2002. A cause of death was not mentioned in the post, which included an image of Wings and Cali with a dog by the sea.

We have some sad news to share today, as the official Wings Hauser page on social media has revealed that the prolific character actor passed away over the weekend at the age of 77. As the post reads, “Movie icon Wings Hauser took flight in the arms of his film & music partner, Cali Lili Hauser at their studio this weekend.“

Known for having one of the coolest names in cinema history, Wings Hauser was actually born Gerald Dwight Hauser on December 12, 1947. “Wings” was part of a stage name (Wings Livinryte) he used for a 1975 folk music album called Your Love Keeps Me Off the Streets, and he was credited as Wings Livinryte when he appeared on an episode of the TV series Cannon that same year. After that, he moved on to calling himself Wings Hauser.

Hauser made his screen debut with an uncredited appearance in the 1967 film First to Fight.

Prolific character actor Wings Hauser has passed away at the age of 77.

“Movie icon Wings Hauser took flight in the arms of his film and music partner, Cali Lili Hauser, at their studio this weekend,” Hauser’s official Facebook page announced.

Born in Hollywood to Academy Award-winning father Dwight A. Hauser, Wings Hauser appeared in over 100 films and TV shows throughout his 58-year career.

His horror credits include Tales from the Hood, Rubber, Vice Squad, Mutant, Nightmare at Noon, The Wind, Watchers III, Pale Blood, The Carpenter, and an episode of “Freddy’s Nightmares.”

Outside the genre, Hauser appeared in films like The Insider, A Soldier’s Story, Beastmaster 2: Through the Portal of Time, and Tough Guys Don’t Dance, which earned him an Independent Spirit Award

He also guest starred on such shows as “House,” “Criminal Minds,” “The Mentalist,” “Bones,” “Castle,” “Monk,” “CSI,” “Roseanne,” and “The A-Team.”

Mutant is bringing the scores to a pair of Netflix original movies to vinyl for the very first time.

Both Alan Silvestri’s score for “The Electric State,” which premieres next week on the streaming service, and Scot Stafford’s score for “Ultraman: Rising,” which hit Netflix last summer, are available later today on Mutant’s official site.

Silvestri’s score for “The Electric State” is so wonderful; you will be transported to the first time you watched “Back to the Future” as a kid. It adds so much wonder and magic to the mega-budgeted Russo Brothers film. And “Ultraman: Rising” combines various influences to create a singular, intoxicating score, for the inaugural animated feature based on the classic Japanese pop culture character.

We have good news for Toxie fans, as the radioactive ranger will officially return to the big screen in 2025.

Macon Blair's remake of low-budget Troma classic The Toxic Avenger, starring Peter Dinklage in the lead role, debuted its first trailer back in October of 2023 before completely dropping off the radar.

Fans have been wondering about the status of the movie ever since, and earlier this year, a report claimed that the gory splatter-fest - which has a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes - had been deemed "unreleasable" and "not safe enough to market."

Well, one distributor was willing to take a chance on Toxie, as Cinerverse and Bloody Disgusting have announced that the movie will get a theatrical release later this year.

Too gory? Unreleasable? Too outrageous for mainstream audiences?! Surprise! You asked for it, and now Cineverse will unleash Macon Blair's The Toxic Avenger remake in theaters - Unrated - this year.

Leigh Whannell‘s Wolf Man soundtrack will infect vinyl on April 25 from Mutant.

The score is composed by Benjamin Wallfisch, who previously worked with Whannell on The Invisible Man in addition to scoring such heavy hitters as It, Blade Runner 2049, Shazam, and Alien: Romulus.

Priced at $30, the album is pressed on 140-gram colored vinyl exclusive to Mutant.

“Ben’s score evokes the lush classic sounds of the original 1940s movie,” Mutant previews. “It’s a beautifully light score featuring incredible orchestration, evoking the mystery within the woods. The score is scary and brutal but also delicate and human when necessary. It’s evocative and rich and helps add grounding to this very contemporary telling of this tale.”

Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles debuted on Paramount+ just five months ago, but Screen Rant reports that a licensing agreement has made the show already available to watch on Netflix as of Jan. 1, 2025. The show is set in the universe of 2023's Mutant Mayhem film and was made to be a bridge between the film and its planned sequel, which is set to feature Shredder as the main antagonist. The series focuses on the Turtles living their lives as teenagers and heroes in New York City two months after the events of the film. Micah Abbey, Shamon Bbown Jr., Nicolas Cantu, Brady Noon and Ayo Edebiri reprise their voice roles from Mutant Mayhem.

With just a few days to go until the release of Marvel Rivals, NetEase Games has shared the official launch trailer for the upcoming game. The launch trailer doesn't just serve as a hype video for the game, but also teases the five remaining playable launch characters.

NetEase Games previously stated that Marvel Rivals will release with 33 playable characters by the end of Season 0 (its month-long launch season). To date, only 28 of these characters have been revealed.

The scores from two of Tom Cruise’s biggest early box office hits are set for expanded release on vinyl for the very first time.

On Friday, Oct. 18, New York-based label Enjoy the Ride Records will release expanded editions of Harold Faltermeyer’s music for “Top Gun” and Hans Zimmer’s for “Days of Thunder,” each on double 140 gram LPs. Following their release in 2023 on a limited-edition CD, both albums will feature the complete original cues from their respective films along with demos or alternate takes.

Only one cue from Faltermeyer’s music for “Top Gun” appeared on the soundtrack originally released in 1986. A special expanded edition released in 1999 added one more, the instrumental “Memories.” Listed below is the track list that will appear on the LP:

The 2024 Chinese sci-fi movie that dropped on Prime Video is a pretty terrible cocktail of every single science-fiction franchise you can imagine—from Star Wars to Terminator to Matrix. The acting is worse than you can imagine; the action is amateurish, and the less said about the writing, the better. That said, the final twist is so ludicrous that it sort of makes sense, actually. If you’re unfortunate enough to catch Mutant and not sure what happened in the end, I’m here to help. My apologies if you’ve enjoyed watching it; art is a very subjective thing after all.

The forthcoming sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem has just received a major update. Seth Rogen, who is a producer on the Tmnt project, recently revealed that the sequel does have a title, although he's not quite ready yet to publically reveal it.

"There is a title, and it's awesome, but I don't think I can say it," Rogen told ComicBook.com during an interview to promote Prime Video's Sausage Party: Foodtopia, the animated series continuation of his R-rated 2016 adult animated comedy, Sausage Party. "But when it came up on the screen, I stood up and cheered." Rogen also shared that there is already "an animatic -- there's a storyboarded version of the whole movie, so they're working on it right now." With production already underway on the animated sequel, it seems highly likely that the movie will have no trouble making its October 2026 release date.
