Fun and trashy

There's so much I love about this movie. It's definitely a step up from the last. The setup is the same as Jason targets a new group of druggie, horny teens but this time in 3D. The kills are great. The eye popping scene is the best and the effort put into the 3D effects is really impressive and goofy. From the get go I absolutely loved the disco theme. The acting is pretty bad but in a fun campy way. The final girl is mostly useless but hilarious as she faces Jason down. I love the bikers and the movie is overly entertaining and highly successful mostly because it's not aiming very high. Plus this is the one where he finally gets his iconic mask

Trivia
The house, barn, and lake were all purpose-built on location. The man-made lake wasn't properly sealed, and, subsequently, the water drained into the soil during the first week of filming.

Goofs
Jason has no wound in his shoulder, despite being stabbed deeply with the machete at the end of Friday the 13th: Part 2 (1981), which took place the day before.

Quotes
Andy: Goddammit, Shelly, why do you always have to be such an asshole?

Crazy credits
Opening credits leap out at you in 3D.

Alternate versions
The new broadcast television print, as seen on Spike TV, not only removes all references to Debbie being pregnant, but it also removes many of Chuck and Chili's opening scenes to omit the minor marijuana references. In fact, the first time we see either of them is when the whole group is standing over the old man in the road.
