STOP. We interrupt this program for a special message from your reviewer.

That is a sudden message that amuses me every time! I always laugh whenever an episode of Zardip had an interruption written in to send an important message about health to us out-of-story. I had very fond memories of watching Zardip in my 3rd grade Health class during the 2007-2008 school year. Even though Zardip's Search for Healthy Wellness was 20 years old when we watched it, it had very good messages about health and safety that still hold up today. I didn't know Zardip's Search for Healthy Wellness was Canadian, but I guess since locations and people's accents from Canada are similar enough to those in the United States where I am from, it is nice that my American elementary school curriculum was allowed to show a Canadian educational series. That is what I enjoy about Zardip, it is an entertaining educational 15-minute episodic series where we learn about health along with a robot from outer space who pretends to be another kid just like us, and it does a very good job of teaching basic lessons about living healthy that are timeless and universal.

GO. We now return to our regular program.

    A kids' show about health

I first saw a rerun of this educational kids' programme back in the mid-1990s on TVO shorty after I came home from school one day in June, as the summer holidays were coming. The station continued to air episodes of it during the holidays that year, and I continued to watch them, happily. During the following school year, when I was in Grade 3, the class was shown episodes of the show while we were studying the human body and health, some of which I had seen before, and some I hadn't.

Zardip was an alien from a planet on which the inhabitants did not know how to live healthy lifestyles. So, he came to Earth, disguised as a human boy, where he was to learn how humans lived, and report information back to his home planet! Obviously, he and the other inhabitants of his planet would benefit from this knowledge. In his disguise, Zardip managed to join a kids' health club, with the other club members unaware of his true identity! It turned out that this club was a great place for Zardip to get the information he needed, and each episode would show the extraterrestrial learning something new.

This show could teach kids a lot about health. As Zardip learned about it, so did the show's young viewers! In addition to its educational value, "Zardip's Search for Healthy Wellness" could also entertain kids with its premise, along with Zardip's adventures, the alien voices, etc. This clearly wasn't the most popular TVO kids' programme I ever saw while growing up, but those who still remember it from their childhood, I'm sure the vast majority of them remember it fondly, myself included.

"Mork" only on a smaller scale

Zardip was an alien sent down to earth to learn about health and how to take care of himself. His new friends taught him all about being clean and staying healthy. Everyday he had to give a report to his leader on what he had learned that day. It was a good show and had an interesting premise.
