“How do we learn how much we love what we have? We can learn that by saying we’re going to lose it,” said Thomas Vinterberg, director of “Families Like Ours,” one of the scripted standouts at MipTV. He was talking about Denmark, evacuated in the series. But the same could be said of delegates at this MipTV.
As the final edition ever rounded its final straits on Wednesday, there was a rush of nostalgia, building in prior days, for an event which had become a fixture in many executives lives down the decades, and had served a business purpose.
“MipTV has always been a very important market for us in the last 25 years. We’ve launched there the new spring series. It is sad that they are moving to London,” lamented Helene Auro at Denmark’s REinvent.

Laura San Giacomo became a household name with prominent roles in the edgy indie drama Sex, Lies, and Videotape and the iconic rom-com Pretty Woman. The actress continued to have massive success on the big screen, with prominent roles in Quigley Down Under, Where the Day Takes You, and Suicide Kings, appearing alongside some of Hollywood’s most revered performers like Julia Roberts, Richard Gere, Tom Selleck, and Christopher Walken.
Despite such an illustrious cinema career, Giacomo shifted her focus to the small screen after the birth of her son, opting for television roles in order to remain more present in his life. She would go on to headline the sitcom Just Shoot Me!, and later portrayed memorable characters in Saving Grace, Veronica Mars, NCIS, and Animal Kingdom.

Last January, Ella Henderson rang in a milestone for the ages. Miles from home, the UK native celebrated her 18th birthday with hit-maker Ryan Tedder in his Denver, Colo., home studio, recording what would become Henderson's debut single "Ghost."
Pics: How the Stars Celebrated Grammy Weekend
"It was just a very surreal time," Henderson tells ETonline in our latest installment of "Behind the Hit." The new series, which last week highlighted Hunter Hayes, asks artists to reflect on how their biggest songs came to life and what it’s meant for their careers.
Henderson caught the eye of Simon Cowell during a stint on The X Factor's ninth UK season in 2012. Viewers and judges were shocked when Henderson was sent home in sixth place, but Cowell still scooped up the talented singer-songwriter and signed her to a deal with his Syco label.
"He constantly asks me, am I happy? Am I enjoying...

WhatCulture! recently sat down for an exclusive interview with renowned film composer Robert Folk. Best known for his work on ‘Beastmaster 2’, ‘The Neverending Story 2’, ‘Toy Soldiers’, ‘Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls’ and of course, ‘Police Academy’, the 63-year-old L.A based musician is spritely and charming. Folk, who was born in New York, has an East Coast accent with a soft warm roll in it; something which one comes to associate with the cultured and educated members of American society. Sporting a healthy glow, he sits in an office decorated with posters of the films he has previously scored – a customary sight amongst film professionals.
During our one-to-one in depth chat Folk talks about IMAX ballet, the ‘Police Academy’ reboot and his work as replacement composer on Roland Joffe’s soon to be released, re-cut, re-mixed, re-packaged historical epic ‘There Be Dragons’ entitled ‘There Be Dragons: Secrets of Passion’.

Troubled Coast has found a home with Pure Noise Records. The Berkley, California based group formed in 2009 and has since developed a sound that is filled with melodic aggression. The band dropped their debut album, “100 Miles From Home”, back in 2010 and their sophomore album, “Letters”, in the spring of 2011. Those were two consecutive years of some good hard rock indie music. Why not keep the musical juices flowing? Troubled Coast thought the same because the group plans on releasing its label debut 7″ Ep in November. By checking out the tunes off of “Letters”, we have taken a liking to the group’s eclectic sound. They take...

This week: Does country music have any gay anthems? Why the brouhaha over Elton John’s child? Plus, Mark Indelicato, Kyle Bornheimer, and more!
Have a question about gay male entertainment? Contact me here (and be sure and include your city and state and/or country!
Q: I've always wondered what's with the gay guy obsession with straight guys doing gay adult films? Is it like a forbidden fruit kind of obsession, or are straight guys just that much hotter, because I really don't get it? A hot guy is a hot guy and gay adult films are gay adult films, but looking at the internet, sites with straight guys getting it on with other guys are all the rage now. I personally find the whole "gay for pay" thing a bit weird. It might be me thinking a bit too much, but there's a slight turn off in knowing...

Memorable roles in American Gigolo and An Officer And A Gentleman seem a long time ago
Allow me to favour you with a little movie list. Try to guess what they have in common and I'll meet you in paragraph two: No Mercy, Power, Miles From Home, Mr Jones, Final Analysis, Sommersby, Intersection, King David, Red Corner, The Jackal, Red Corner, The Mothman Prophecies, Unfaithful, Shall We Dance, Amelia.
I know, I know: it looks like the Razzie Winners' display at some bleak video store in the sixth circle of Hell, or perhaps the entire directorial oeuvre of Alan Smithee handily quarantined to prevent them from infecting the poor innocent DVDs on neighbouring shelves. But let me straighten you out: they all star one Richard Tiffany Gere, who can be seen this week in another of his patented misfires, Brooklyn's Finest.
