Thom Mathews disliked the sequel so much that he said the best part about making the film was the outstanding craft services.
The music score on the U.S. DVD release is almost completely different to the original theatrical release. This was speculated to be because of difficulties obtaining the rights to use the original score. However, the original score was restored for the Blu-ray release, and it also restores the original Lorimar Pictures logo that was plastered on the Warner DVD release.
Although they play different characters, Thom Mathews and James Karen nearly duplicate their roles from The Return of the Living Dead (1985) as a pair who are sickened by zombie gas. In both films, they have the exchange, "Listen kid, if you like this job..." "Like this job? Like this job?," and in one moment that gets close to breaking the fourth wall, Mathew's character Joey even says "I feel like we've been here before. You... Me... Them!"
Jonathan Terry reprises his role as Colonel Glover from the original The Return of the Living Dead. A possible connection between both films.
