Longlegs star Nicolas Cage voiced the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man Noir in the animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and we’re going to have the chance to watch him play the character in live-action in the upcoming MGM+ and Prime Video series that’s going by the title Spider-Noir. That show is currently in production, and today, Deadline revealed that the recurring cast includes Amy Aquino (Bosch) and Andrew Robinson (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine)!
I’m especially excited to hear that Andrew Robinson is involved with this show, because he has been largely absent from our screens for way too long. The character actors has racked up over 100 credits over the course of a career that stretches back to 1969, with Dirty Harry, Mask, Cobra, Hellraiser, Shoot to Kill, Child’s Play 3, Trancers III, Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings, and The Puppet Masters being among the many movies you might have seen him in.

For whatever reason, Hollywood doesn't produce movies like "Legally Blonde" anymore. Brightly colored, fun, and undeniably optimistic, this Reese Witherspoon comedy succinctly captures the zeitgeist of the early 2000s, and it now serves as a time capsule to a more innocent time when it felt possible for a fashion merchandising student to usurp the Harvard snobs and become a full-fledged lawyer. Truly, director Robert Luketic's upbeat tone, to say nothing of Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith's snappy script, is a key reason for the film's enduring success -- it's the perfect underdog tale, featuring a likable character worth rooting for and an uplifting message about staying true to yourself and persevering in the face of adversity.
"Legally Blonde" earned solid reviews from critics, earned a pair of Golden Globe nominations, including one for Witherspoon, made a killing at the box office, led to two sequels (and counting), and even spawned a musical.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains details of tonight’s Blue Bloods series finale and Season 14 ender ‘End of Tour.’
“I’m handing you the keys,” a wounded New York Mayor Peter Chase (Dylan Walsh) says to NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) in the Blue Bloods series finale tonight as murderous gangs rage on the streets killing police, judges, and anyone else who gets in their way. “Get us out of this,” the often cunning politician tells the top cop he has so often clashed with over the long running CBS drama’s run.
“Tom Selleck’s character, Frank Reagan, had spent 14 years arguing with his boss, and there was an opportunity there for him to finally serve his boss in a way that also was true to his character,” explains Blue Bloods longtime showrunner Kevin Wade of the importance of the scene in “End of Tour,” the 293rd episode...

“Within every man there are two men. One who learns to be civilized by day. One who longs to be savage by night.”
So begins the theatrical teaser for Mike Nichols’ Wolf (1994). I remember seeing it for the first time on the “Coming Soon” section of a freshly bought VHS tape brought home by my mom (it might have been Bram Stoker’s Dracula or maybe Jurassic Park) and at the time it scared the hell out of me. The sight of a beastly Jack Nicholson, heaving with barely repressed lust and violence over the prone body of Michelle Pfeiffer, was spooky to me in a way movies can only be when you’re eight years old and the possibility of monsters being around every corner is still very viable to you.

Sandra Bullock is one of the most recognized actresses in the world. The Miss Congeniality star is known for her balance of intense and feel-good roles as well as her relatable off-screen persona. She has won the Academy Award once for The Blind Side and was also nominated for Gravity. She was also one of the highest-paid actresses.
Bullock has achieved a lot in her over thirty-year career and continues to play intense and noteworthy roles. However, like any other actor, she struggled to get a break before she made a name for herself with Speed. While the film launched her into the stratosphere, she came from an incredibly talented family.

A-listers are often remembered for their most famous roles in equally renowned films, but their careers include plenty of films, some of which can often be forgotten because of when they were released or the genre they more closely matched. However, despite being easily forgotten, said films can still be extremely satisfying to watch and revisit years after their release.
From period dramas to rom-coms, to dramas, this list spans multiple genres and decades. While some films may only include a couple of A-list actors, others have so many that its easy to question why they were forgotten in the first place, especially considering how intense, full of twists and generally great the films are.

A Tribute to Harrison Ford: One of America’s Most Beloved Actors Leading Star Wars and Indiana Jones
Harrison Ford has been well-known for his performances in his action-driven films such as playing Indiana Jones in the ‘Indiana Jones saga’ and Han Solo in the ‘Star Wars’ films. They have been two successful franchises that had given Harrison some other opportunities for other action roles. However, he also proved to be a wonderful actor by even starring in experimental sci-fi movies such as Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi cult favorite ‘Blade Runner’ (1982). 1970s Harrison Ford was born on July 13th, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Ripon College in the state of Wisconsin. He also took some minor acting roles in film and TV. Despite the fact that he was trying to break into the entertainment industry, he was also a carpenter. Around the early 1970s, he landed a small part in George Lucas’ film ‘American Graffiti’ (1973). This was after the famous sci-fi director made his powerful debut film ‘Thx-1138,...

The best Oliver Platt movies and TV shows include a mix of critically acclaimed shows and award-winning big screen feature films. Platt figured out from an early age that he wanted to be an actor and studied drama at Tufts University before starting to work in theater in Boston. His big break came when he met Bill Murray, who attended one of Platt's plays and then recommended that Jonathan Demme cast him in the movie Married to the Mob in 1988. That was Platt's big break and his career skyrocketed from there.
Since that big break, Platt took on a variety of roles in several genres, with appearances in Working Girl, Beethoven, The Three Musketeers, and Lake Placid. While his movie roles have been plentiful, and resulted in several award nominations, it was his entry to television that gave him a chance to become a bigger star. This started with a...

From Catch-22 to Good Morning, Vietnam, there are plenty of great movies that balance compelling character drama with incisive dark humor as effectively as Mash. Most war movies, like Saving Private Ryan, Apocalypse Now, and The Deer Hunter, offer bleak, harrowing accounts of the horrors of warfare and the devastating psychological toll it takes. But there are plenty of filmmakers who have used the inherent absurdity of warfare to satirize geopolitics and human nature, like Stanley Kubrick with his Cold War-era farce Dr. Strangelove or Ivan Reitman with his lighthearted buddy comedy Stripes.
Robert Altmans transgressive comedy blockbuster Mash and the ensuing hit TV adaptation both showed audiences how to laugh at the pain of war. Altmans film used its Korean War setting as a timely parallel to the then-ongoing Vietnam War, and the TV show used a workplace sitcom set in a war zone to depict triumphs of the...

Three-time Oscar nominee Sigourney Weaver has proven herself a capable leading lady in a variety of genres, including science fiction, fantasy, comedy, horror and drama. Let’s take a look back at 16 of her greatest films, ranked worst to best.
Weaver made her film debut with a walk-on role as Woody Allen‘s girlfriend in “Annie Hall” (1977). Her breakthrough came just two years later for Ridley Scott‘s landmark sci-fi thriller “Alien” (1979). As Ripley, the lone survivor aboard a spacecraft besieged by a snarling, ferocious extra-terrestrial, Weaver broke down barriers for female action stars and helped launch a franchise that led to three sequels: James Cameron‘s “Aliens” (1986), David Fincher‘s “Alien 3” (1992), and Jean-Pierre Jeunet‘s “Alien: Resurrection” (1997).
“Aliens” brought Weaver her first Oscar nomination as Best Actress, a rarity for the genre. Not to be typecast, she found further success in a variety of roles that didn’t require donning a space helmet.

Not every child actor story turns out to be a tragedy. The Disney Channel child star to super rich adult pipeline is real, and Selena Gomez is the latest star to take it to new heights, according to a fresh report from Bloomberg. The "Only Murders in the Building" star is officially a billionaire, with a net worth of $1.3 billion dollars, but most of that money didn't come from her acting and musical career.
According to the outlet, Gomez has made her millions via a combination of acting, singing, brand partnerships, a mental health startup, and -- most importantly -- a mega-successful makeup line called Rare Beauty Brands. So, what does reportedly being richer than Zendaya or Miley Cyrus mean for the actor who first got her start on Disney's fantasy family comedy show "Wizards of Waverly Place"? Well, she can basically do whatever she wants in Hollywood.

Despite being the face of the Alien franchise, actor Sigourney Weaver has a strict condition for reprising her role of Ellen Ripley, which explains why she hasn't returned to the franchise in 27 years. Notably, Sigourney Weaver's Ripley didn't return for Alien: Romulus, the ninth installment in the storied franchise that began with Ridley Scott's Alien in 1979. Penned by Dan O'Bannon, the sci-fi horror film was not just a blockbuster, but a critically acclaimed, movie career-launching turn for Weaver, who plays Ellen Ripley, the warrant officer aboard a commercial space tug called Nostromo.
When the Nostromo comes across an abandoned ship, the crew come face-to-face with a hostile extraterrestrial. Harrison Ford turned down the role of Dr. Alan Grant in Jurassic Park, which ended up going to Sam Neill. Like a sheep in wolf’s clothing, Halina Reijn’s surprisingly genteel “Babygirl” might bare the occasional fang, but it doesn’t have much bite. For all the superficial similarities to “50 Shades of Grey” — here too setting a lightly sadomasochistic relationship within a world of affluence, all while tacking on a much dreaded age-gap imbalance to send social media’s most ardent moralists into a tizzy — this dom-com plays more like an outré spin on “Working Girl,” updating Reagan-era wishcasting for the social set that has decided Kamala Is Brat.
Premiering at this year’s Venice Film Festival and set for release this December, “Babygirl” could easily emerge as a holiday season guilty pleasure, a sexy-but-never-dangerous star romp that streamlines kink for maximum commercial play. The 2024 Venice Film Festival has officially commenced.
Hard to say whether the audience loved the opening night film “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” which scored laughs here and there, and many a gasp or two at the inventive effects that pull the film even more into body horror territory. Alien's sci-fi take on slasher tropes swept horror fans and film buffs, but many initially thought the movie was a one-off. Even Sigourney Weaver never expected that her breakout film (and most iconic role) would be a pop culture phenomenon.
Sigourney Weaver said she never expected Alien's impact would endure 45 years after its theatrical premiere. The actor recounted a stellar career highlighted by acclaimed roles in Ghostbusters, Gorillas in the Mist, Working Girl, and the Avatar movies. Fans and film buffs consider her performances in the Alien movies iconic, however; Ellen Ripley's arc in the franchise was defined and cathartic (despite her divisive death in Alien 3). In an interview with Deadline, Weaver explained her creative approach to the character; she also revealed why Ripley was such a great archetype for the hero's journey.

She’s survived xenomorphs, busted ghosts, lived among the gorillas, and co-starred in the top-grossing blockbuster of all time — and soon she’ll have a Golden Lion. Screen icon Sigourney Weaver, whose stately grace and steely will have captivated filmgoers for nearly 50 years, will be awarded the Venice Film Festival‘s top honor for lifetime achievement at the event’s glamorous 81st opening ceremony. But first, the three-time Oscar nominee met the international press in Venice on Wednesday afternoon for a wide-ranging conversation about her career and the art of cinema.
Within the first five minutes of the sit-down, Weaver was brought to tears by a female journalist’s personal thank you for her pioneering performances as strong women characters — most notably, as the heroine Ripley in Ridley Scott’s sci-fi horror classic Alien — which shifted perceptions in the industry about the kinds of parts women could play and empowered female viewers everywhere.

The word “franchise” is now familiar to fans of Harrison Ford, with multiple visits to the same characters in the “Star Wars,” Indiana Jones, “Blade Runner” and Jack Ryan (this must be some sort of record in franchise-starring).
In between, Ford got to exercise his acting muscles in such non-franchise films as “42,” “The Fugitive,” “The Mosquito Coast,” “Working Girl,” “Air Force One,” and of course “Witness,” the only movie to bring him an Oscar nomination. He has received other honors, including the American Film Institute life achievement award and the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes.
We’ve collected 15 of Ford’s best films and ranked them from worst to first, including the ones mentioned above. Tour our photo gallery and see if you agree or disagree with our choices.

There are shades of Legally Blonde and Private Benjamin in Amazon’s lesser, low-rent comedy about a Florida bartender with dreams of being an astronaut
There’s a well-tested, and mostly well-liked, formula being recycled in Amazon’s lightweight Fourth of July comedy Space Cadet. It’s the mildly rousing story of an underestimated blonde excelling in a more serious field, something Goldie Hawn aced in Private Benjamin and Protocol before Melanie Griffith took over with Working Girl and Born Yesterday, followed by Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde. It’s an easy, against-all-odds rise for us to get behind and a career-defining every-scene showcase for an actor who may have also found herself unfairly undervalued by the industry.
There’s something for both actor and character to prove, and when it’s done right, we should be able to taste the same hunger, cheering for an inevitable victory. But in...

Actor and comedian Dan Aykroyd has had a long and steady career ever since he first began doing improvisational comedy with the famed Second City troupe in both their Chicago and Toronto theaters.
Fame came to Aykoyd when he was hired for what seemed like a low expectations comedy/variety show NBC was beginning for late Saturday evenings. “Saturday Night Live” became a bit of a phenomenon launching all the original “Not Ready for Prime Time Players” (as the cast was called) into stardom. Aykroyd along with Chevy Chase, John Belushi, Gilda Radner, Jane Curtin, Laraine Newman and Garrett Morris suddenly found themselves among the most talked about television stars working in the business.
Aykroyd and Belushi became especially close friends during the series run and began working in films together such as “Neighbors,” “The Blues Brothers” and potentially “Ghostbusters,” but Belushi’s overdose at the age of 33 caused Bill Murray...

Sigourney Weaver has been awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the upcoming Venice International Film Festival.
Venice chief Alberto Barbera called the thrice Academy Award-nominated Alien star “an actress with few rivals.”
“Strengthened by her significant theatrical training, she won over the great film-going public with Alien, directed by Ridley Scott, soon becoming an emblematic figure of the 1980s,” he added. “As an authentic collaborator, rather than simply a malleable instrument in the hands of a director, she has contributed to the success of movies by James Cameron, Paul Schrader, Peter Weir, Michael Apted, Roman Polanski, Ivan Reitman, Mike Nichols, Ang Lee, and many others, each time imposing the mark of a complex personality — at times contradictory but always authentic — onto her own charismatic presence. Endowed with a remarkable temperament, able to move with delicacy yet without fragility, she has created the image of a woman who is self-assured and determined,...

For only the second time in its 15 year history there is no actor among the honorees for this year’s select group receiving the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Governors Awards. The AMPAS Board Of Governors have chosen to give Academy Honorary Awards to music legend Quincy Jones and veteran Casting Director Juliet Taylor, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to British writer/director Richard Curtis, and the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award to producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. The awards ceremony, always a highlight in the very long Oscar season will take place on Sunday November 17, 2024 at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Ovation Hollywood.
You have to go back to the 4th Governors Awards in 2012 to find a group that did not include at least one actor among its recipients. That year the honorees were documentary filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker, director/stuntman Hal Needham, AFI founder and producer/filmmaker George Stevens Jr.,...

Kevin Spacey, a name once synonymous with phenomenal talent & award-winning performances, continues to command our attention despite the shadow cast by allegations of s*xual impropriety that emerged in 2017.
But as we reflect on his career, punctuated by two Academy Awards, a Golden Globe, and a BAFTA, it’s remarkable to witness Spacey’s resilience in the face of adversity. Despite his significantly diminished net worth and the industry’s overall disinterest in him, the actor is still making headlines, but not for the reasons you may expect.

Spacey is facing an enhanced number of allegations of s*xual assault related to alleged incidents that took place between 2005 and 2013. His net worth has dropped by tens of millions of dollars in those years, even though he has kept working despite his cancellation.

Hulu has to be pretty pleased with its list of new releases for June 2024. That’s because it’s about to be the summer of The Bear once again.
The Bear season 3 premieres all of its episodes on June 27 on Hulu. This FX dramedy has proven to be one of the most successful shows of its era. Jeremy Allen White stars as Carmy Berzatto, a world-famous chef who returns home to Chicago to help his floundering family restaurant after the death of his brother. Season 2 saw The Original Beef of Chicagoland crew transform the spot into fine dining establishment The Bear. It ruled. So will season 3 probably.
FX is responsible for the other major TV release on Hulu this month. Clipped premieres on June 4 and is about the scandalous real life story of Donald Sterling, the awful owner of the basketball team the Los Angeles Clippers. Another intriguing TV option...

My favorite scene in the hilarious new film “The Fall Guy” is the one where Emily Blunt (recent Best Supporting Actress Oscar nominee for “Oppenheimer”) belts out the Phil Collins classic “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)” as Ryan Gosling (recent Best Supporting Actor Oscar nominee for “Barbie”) finds himself in a particularly dramatic — and dangerous — sequence of events.
As Blunt sang with all her heart, I couldn’t help but think of how perfect the timing was.
Forty years ago this very month, the famous power ballad had just completed a three-week reign on top of the Billboard Hot 100. “Against All Odds” was the title song from the romantic thriller starring Jeff Bridges, Rachel Ward and James Woods. The Taylor Hackford-directed movie was met with solid reviews and healthy ticket sales. But its most notable success was Collins’s song, which quickly took the Billboard chart by storm.

It was a movie with a questionable title. A lot of critics were rough on it. Gene Siskel even called it one of the worst movies of the year. It came and went in theatres with few movie-goers paying any attention. But in the years since its release, it has become a beloved cult classic, with a legion of fans that love quoting its memorable lines. Some of its youngest viewers were drawn in by what they saw as a wish fulfillment concept: What would you do if the babysitter croaked on the first day of your mom’s vacation… so you had the house to yourself for two months straight? We get to see what the Crandall kids would do in the 1991 comedy Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead – and it’s time for this one to be Revisited.

Twenty years ago this month, the fairy tale-like romantic comedy “13 Going on 30” starring Jennifer Garner made its way into cinemas. The actress played Jenna Rink, a socially awkward soon-to-be 13-year-old who quickly realizes that she “hates being 13.” She makes a birthday wish to be “thirty, flirty and thriving.” With the little help of some wishing dust, she wakes up the next morning to discover that her wish has come true.
It was a defining moment in Garner’s early career. Her role as Sydney Bristow in the television action thriller series “Alias” had made her a breakout star (including at awards shows) just a few years earlier. She won the Golden Globe for Best Drama Actress in 2002 and had competed again in 2003 and earlier in 2004. She had also been nominated for two Emmy Awards one Screen Actors Guild trophy.

The recipient of numerous accolades including two Golden Globes and a Grammy, Sigourney Weaver is undoubtedly one of the best actresses in Hollywood. She is well-known for her diverse filmography which comprises films like Alien and Working Girl; while the former is a sci-fi horror, the latter is a romantic comedy-drama.

Weaver rose to fame with her performance as Ellen Ripley in Ridley Scott’s 1979 smash hit Alien. She reprised her role in the three sequels after the first movie’s success. It is hard to picture any other actress as Ellen in her place. It might be surprising for some that a different award-winning actress was considered for the role once.

The 2020s is, so far, shaping to be the decade of remakes, specifically of well-known movies and infamous cult titles. The 1991 dark comedy Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead falls into the latter category. The original film started as the story of a teenage girl, Swell, and her siblings covering up the accidental death of their cruel and elderly babysitter, all while their mother was conveniently absent. It ended as Swell's haphazard coming-of-age tale of getting a job to support her family, all while keeping the sitter's death and her real identity at work a secret.
The original movie reads as a period piece now, steeped knee-deep in the popular culture of life in the late 80s and early 90s. This hasn't stopped it from becoming a cult classic, with a small but loyal fanbase. With the resurgence of 90s nostalgia and the increasing horde of remakes that have seized Hollywood since the mid-2010s,...

It’s been more than 30 years since Sharon Stone and William Baldwin starred together in the 1993 flop Sliver. But recent revelations and controversies surrounding the movie reeks of unhappy moments and alleged pressure that Stone had to face while filming. Ready Player Two is still going ahead as a movie, but Steven Spielberg will be changing roles on the new movie.
After steering Ready Player One to a global box office take of over half a billion dollars, it was inevitable that when the potential of a movie based on Ready Player Two came along, Steven Spielberg would get first dibs on it.
Ready Player Two is – yeah, you probably guessed this – the sequel book to Ernest Cline’s original hit. It came out in 2020 and didn’t, er, get the most positive of reviews. Still, it was little secret that Warner Bros wants to do a sequel to the original movie and it soon snapped up the rights to do so.

Duchovny is James, who is raising Adam (Oakes Fegley). When the boy is old enough to understand, James tells him he’s not his biological father. The confusion over the woman who plays the older woman in the 2023 film Barbie has been cleared up – it is not Barbara Handler, the original inspiration for the Barbie doll. Instead, Ann Roth, an Oscar-winning costume designer, plays the older woman on the bench in the movie Barbie. She was chosen because she is a friend of director Greta Gerwig and fit the role well. Unfortunately, Barbara Handler does not make a cameo appearance in the Barbie movie, despite being the namesake for the iconic toy.

As Alec Baldwin’s legal challenges continue with Friday’s indictment stemming from the 2021 Rust shooting, he has made moves to shore up his finances, which includes the star starting to appear at fan conventions and having relisted his longtime Hamptons home for $10 million under the asking price from roughly a year ago.
In a video posted this week by real estate brokerage firm Saunders & Associates, Baldwin talks to the camera about his fond memories with the 10,000-square-foot, seven-bedroom home located in Amagansett on Long Island’s South Shore. The 30 Rock alum’s abode is now on the market for $19 million after he previously listed it for $29 million. The original listing was in September 2022, less than a year after a firearm handled by Baldwin on the New Mexico set of indie Western Rust was discharged on Oct. 21, 2021, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.

Hollywood star Harrison Ford gave one of the most memorable speeches of the recently held Critics Choice Awards.
A visibly emotional Ford took the stage midway through the ceremony to accept the career achievement award, honouring his body of work, which includes some of the biggest blockbusters in history, like playing Han Solo in ‘Star Wars’ and archaeologist Indiana Jones, reports Variety.
Critics Choice Awards host Chelsea Handler had already called out Ford in her monologue for being one of her celebrity crushes, but it was ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ director James Mangold who presented Ford with the prize.
“The largest stars in the known universe are called variable hypergiants. Of course, Harrison Ford is a star. However, I submit tonight that he is a variable hypergiant,” Mangold said, quoted by Variety.
“A star so big he contains multitudes. A star so unique he attracts other stars.
