Playboy Playmates of the Year: The 80's

My review was written in October 1989 after watching the program on HBO video cassette.

Relying largely on previously available footage, Playboy's video survey of the 10 most recent Playmates of the year is nevertheless a highly collectible item for fans.

The bio-sketches and nude modeling sessions reveal a certain sameness to the annual winners, many of whom are from Canada. An interesting update segment at tape's end tells of their current status, many of the models having pursued successful acting and modeling careers or married celebrities. Donna Edmondson is the odd woman out, both in terms of looks and career as a hometown real estate agent.

A tasteful segment on the late Dorothy Stratten (subject of "Star 80") is included. Collectors of Playboy videos will notice that the segments on the most recent models are truncated versions of already released individual tapes.
