According to the DVD commentary, director Jim Wynorski wanted Louis Jourdan to refer to the character of Miss Poinsettia as "Points." Mr. Jourdan refused because he knew that the character's nickname was a sexual innuendo referring to her breasts. Wynorski then asked Jourdan, "Weren't you just in a movie called Octopussy?" Jourdan refused to speak to Wynorski for much of the shoot afterward. Wynorski later admits on the commentary that he personally considered Jourdan as the "worst Bond villain ever."
Dick Durock's voice was overdubbed by an unknown actor, which neither Durock nor director Jim Wynorski found out about until the film premiered.
According to the Blu-ray commentary, the uncredited actor seen during Swamp Thing's and Abigail's love scene was not Dick Durock, but an unnamed male model hired off the street. He was reported to be very arrogant and Heather Locklear didn't like him at all. However, she agreed to do the scene, and as soon as it was filmed, the actor was paid his 100 dollar fee and was sent on his way. Wynorski expressed regret over hiring the model instead of having Durock play the human counterpart.
With this film, Dick Durock became the first actor since Christopher Reeve to reprise the role of a DC Comics protagonist.
Director Jim Wynorski was given 30 days to shoot this movie and managed to film the entire picture in 27 days.
