Finally, last weekend of The Voice India not only saw the show enter its second phase (battle rounds) but also gave the ‘fabulous four’ coaches the chance to wear a different outfit (yay!) During the battle rounds, the audience would see 2 contestants from the same team battle it out together by performing the same song. It would be their coach who would then decide after the performance, who is worthy of staying in their team and who will be eliminated.
Saturday’s episode opened with an insight into how the coaches are preparing their teams, Coach Hr then entered with Team Hr contestants singing ‘Hookah Bar’ (Khiladi 786). Coach Shaan and team Shaan sang ‘Deewangi’ from Om Shaanti Om, coach Mika and team Mika sang ‘Jumme Ki Raat’ (Kick), whilst coach Sunidhi sang Move on from Tanu Weds Manu Returns, with her team.
Team Shaan was the first team to perform in the Battle Rounds.

It¡¦s exactly one year to this day when you surprised me and the entire industry with your chilling performance in Ek Villian. June 27, 2014, I¡¦m sure is the day you will never forget. That was, to me, your biggest Friday professionally. You surpassed your expectations as a performer and I know the kick it can give a creative person.
It¡¦s a high of knowing that you broke the standards you set for yourself. Every creative person is his or hers biggest critic. The appreciation that followed would have only been the icing on the cake. Not to mention the awards.
Every actor lives for this, and then to push himself some more; for that surreal place where he can call his own¡Xhis zone! Every actor reaches there at least once in his lifetime.

For many women who enjoyed Bollywood during the 70s and 80s, Mithun Chakraborty was a heartthrob for many of them. Famous for films like Disco Dancer (1982) and Agneepath (1990), the legendary actor will be seen in the highly-anticipated film Kick, which stars Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez in the leading roles.
Speaking about what was so special about Kick that motivated him to sign up to it (given that he is very selective about the roles he does), Mr Chakraborty responded, “After 375 films, I would say I’m fortunate to be able to consider carefully which roles I take on. I don’t accept a role for the sake of it, there has to be something special about the character that draws me to the film. When I read the Kick script I thought my character was hilarious, so I said yes. I thought it was a great project to be a part of.

I don’t usually begin interviews with a synopsis and a trailer, but for this one I think I must, to give you an idea about what Faiza Ahmad Khan’s Supermen of Malegaon is all about.
Malegaon, a small town tucked away near the heart of India geographically, is fraught with communal tension and under economic depression. To escape the harsh reality of their world, its people seek refuge in the fantastical world of cinema.
This passion for cinema has spurred a group of cinema enthusiasts to make their own films-quirky, low budget, socially aware and notoriously funny spoofs of Bollywood films. Their ambition has grown and now they are ready to take on Hollywood and Superman.
We follow them on this journey. At times funny, tragic, contemplative. Always warm and engaging. And as the film begins to take shape, through schemes and approaches that are sublimely ingenious, simply bizarre and purely hysterical,...

Anurag Kashyap’s name (No Smoking, DevD) has become synonymous with new age Indian cinema, which pushes boundaries and offers an alternative to the mainstream commercial offerings from Bollywood which many have become accustomed to. Gangs of Wasseypur (Gow), fresh from its critical reception at Cannes Film Festival, is part one of a self-styled almost 6 hour epic mafia film, set in the hinterlands of northern India. The central concept of the film is revenge, coupled with the rise of warring clans. It is similar to the revenge Leonardo Dicaprio sought from Daniel Day Lewis in Scorsese’s Gangs of New York, or Amitabh Bachchan fought for in Mukul Anand’s Agneepath. In Gow this revenge is laid out very early in the film by a young Manoj Bajpai, in the name of his father’s death (also played by Manoj Bajpai) and will clearly culminate in part 2 of the film.

We have a cool treat just for BollySpice readers! Here’s an exclusive image of the original ‘Vijay Dinanath Chauhan’ with the Bollywood maestro Late Yash Johar on the sets of Agneepath (1990). It has left such an impression that even after 22 years down the dialogues echo in our heads. And thanks to the remake, the movie is revived. The original Agneepath had Amitabh Bachchan as Vijay Deenanath Chavan, Alok Nath as Master, Danny Denzongpa as Kancha Cheena, Neelam Kothari as Siksha Chavan.
Plot
The film begins with a morally upright and honest Gandhian Schoolmaster, Deenanath Chauhan(Alok Nath), teaching his son, Vijay about a poem, ‘Agneepath’, which describes ‘The Path of Fire’ which a man must cross in his life. This theme becomes an integral part of the story. Master Deenanath is a well-loved person, who wishes to bring education to the Village, Mandwa. The script has changed in Bollywood in the last 60 years - the women are more worldly, the men more macho and the cinema itself more techno-savvy, almost as good as Hollywood, says veteran cinema writer and critic Bhaichand Patel..The women in Hindi cinema are more assertive though no less beautiful (than yesteryear ones), they often smoke on screen and they are equal to men. Mainstream cinema has been a good trend-setter for equality of gender - it is happening now,. Patel told us..The hero, however, has not changed as much as women though they - the crop represented by Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Amitabh Bachchan - are a little more physical and action-oriented than the early superstars like Dilip Kumar and Raj Kumar..A former Un official, Patel studied filmmaking at New York University. His new book, Bollywood.s Top 20: Superstars of Indian Cinema launched Monday,...

1973’s chartbuster Zanjeer will be remade and hopefully star many a fans’ all-time favourite actress Priyanka Chopra. The film back then was directed and produced by Prakash Mehra, but this time it will be directed by Apoorva Lakhia and co-produced by Amit Mehra (Prakash Mehra’s son) and Reliance Entertainment. Now, it hasn’t been given the final nod but it’s been said that Priyanka “is very excited about this offer and is fast working out her dates for it.”
A friend says, “Priyanka has seen Prakash Mehra’s Zanjeer several times”. If she agrees she’ll be taking on Jaya Bachchan’s role, only this time playing an Nri café owner instead of a street performer like the original. If everything goes well and Priyanka does give the okay it’ll be the third remake movie of Amitabh Bachchan’s movies she’s done with first and second being Don and Agneepath.

Action movies are back in style and every actor worth a punch at the box office is getting back into to action in a big way. Ghajini in 2008 was the first action masala movie with a big star after a long time and took audiences by storm. Then followed Salman Khan’s Wanted in 2009, his Dabangg in 2010, Ajay Devgan’s Singham in 2011 and Hrithik Roshan’s Agneepath earlier this year. Each film smashed records at the box office, crossing the 100 crore mark and bringing back the single screen nostalgia for action films – the grand hero entry, bravado performances and gripping tales. They also generated interest within the multiplex audiences, who were used to watching family dramas and glitzy romantic films set abroad.

Amitabh Bachchan's iconic Vijay Dinanath Chauhan is still etched in the memories of film connoisseurs. We are obviously talking about Big B's character in the iconic Agneepath that won the megastar a National award. Delving into the past, as is known to most who have knowledge about Hindi cinema during the eighties and early nineties, despite much critical accolades, Amitabh's voice modulation turned out to be the achilles heel for Agneepath.

Hrithik Roshan says his performance in Agneepath should not be compared with Amitabh Bachchan. The actor, who reprises the iconic role of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan in the remake of the '90s classic, told The Times of India it was unfair to compare the two actors. "You can't compare [with Amitabh]. If you start comparing, I will fail in a second. said Roshan. "I feel people are not saying that I have done as well, but I think what they are saying is I have done well in my way and they are cheering for me. "I don't even want to analyse. There are no comparisons in my head." Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara star Roshan has received widespread acclaim for his performance in the remake, produced by Karan Johar and directed by debutant Karan Malhotra. He has described it as the hardest (more)...

Remakes definitely have it tough. Not only do they have to go through the usual grind of pleasing the audiences and doing well at the box office, they also have to bear the added burden of comparisons with the original. And in most cases, the huge expectations and comparisons often kill the remake. Agneepath is a remake of the 1990 Yash Johar production – a movie which was a box office failure but went on to become a cult – and there’s no doubt that people are waiting to decide whether this one works better than the original or not. Truly speaking, Agneepath is more of a tribute rather than a remake; it pays homage to the original, it itself states that the cult is difficult to recreate but at the same time urges you to watch it without any pre-notions. I am going to do this movie a favor – I will...

New Delhi, Jan 27: The magic of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan seems to have worked once again. Karan Johar's "Agneepath" has had a record opening day collection minting Rs.25 crore on the first day and surpassing the collections of recent blockbusters like "Bodyguard" and "Ra.One".
While Salman Khan's "Bodyguard" earned Rs.22 crore, superstar Shah Rukh Khan's mega-budget "Ra.One" made Rs.18 crore on the opening day. But the Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt-starrer remake of the 1990 film of the same name, which released Thursday, has gone beyond.

Seems that a remake of a classic once again can take the box office by storm. Agneepath, which is a new telling of the classic Amitabh Bachchan starrer is well on its way to be an iconic film itself and it has only been in the theater for one day. The Karan Malhotra directed Agneepath, starring Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra had absoultely incredible opening day numbers. The film has already raked in approximately over 20 crore! If at the end of the day that number indeed ends up to be true or, as it is looking to be, even higher it will be the biggest opening day ever.
Audiences are so loving this film in India that at every showing we hear there are whistles, claps and screams and more! At a theater fans actually were putting garlands on the posters and hoardings.

It’s a huge risk remaking a film like Agneepath, which (we believe) is one of the toughest Amitabh Bachchan films to remake. Apart from Bachchan’s performance as the iconic Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, the Agneepath of the 90s was a box-office failure. Producer Yash Johar who had put his heart and soul into making the original, was heart broken when the film failed commercially.

New Delhi, Jan 25: The star cast of 'Agneepath' including Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra were seen promoting their upcoming movie in Gurgaon on Monday.
While addressing the press conference, Hrithik, denied claims that he is emulating Amitabh Bachchan's portrayal of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan in the film.
"If you are going to enter the theatre to compare me with him (Amitabh Bachchan), I am going to lose in probably the first five seconds, because first of all I am not as tall. But it was refreshing for me to hear a subject that could have been interpreted like this as this Vijay (character name) is in deep.

Actor Hrithik Roshan, who has stepped into Amitabh Bachchan's shoes for the potrayal of the iconic Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, says his character in the remake of the 1990 cult classic, has no chances of comparision in terms of style and personality."The moment you see my Vijay, the comparison will go away. When production companies release news of future projects to come, fans and the media start spinning the wheel of speculation on who will direct and compose the music for the films. Of course, one of the biggest things that always gains the most attention is which actors and actresses will be chosen as the jodi for the film. For many fans it can be that pairing that will make or break any film more than the lack of script or direction. With Bollywood’s continuing affair with screen romance fans have been treated to some epic jodis like Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in Ddlj and more recently Akshay Kumar and Anushka Sharma, which proved to be the crutch of Patiala House. We also loved the jodi of newcomers Saqib Saleem & Saba Azad in Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge. While there have been many that have dazzled in the past,...

In a week to follow, the Bollywood box- office is well slated for another outstanding release, the remade version of Mukul Anand’s action packed bonanza- ‘Agneepath’. While Hrithik will be stepping into the shoes of Big B as Vijay Dinath Chauhan; the villainous cast of Danny Denzongpa will be essayed by Sanjay Dutt. Giving way to obvious prospects of possible parallelisms and those of differences, it will be interesting to note the elements of closeness. To go by the creative unit as well as the actor, despite having a base of commonality, Hrithik as Vijay Dinanath Chauhan is supposed to be a far cry from Big B’s p...
