Because it did not include a copyright notice when it was released in the United States, this film legally became part of the public domain. A flood of inferior copies were produced, usually either taken from the original U.S. Cinema Group Home Video VHS or a lower quality source. (Films released after March of 1989 automatically receive copyright protection even without a specific notice.)
