George Clooney’s First Movie Was A Box Office Disaster: Here’s Why Hollywood Wants You To Forget It!
George Clooney First Movie(Photo Credit –Wikimedia)
Very few people remember George Clooney’s first movie, and honestly, that’s for the best. Before he became one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, he made his feature film debut in Return to Horror High (1987) – a movie that was, well, a total disaster.
“Return to Horror High is an early example of meta-horror, and it was completely ahead of its time,” Looper once noted. “That’s not to say the film is good.” And that about sums it up.
Clooney played Oliver, an actor in a low-budget slasher film being shot inside an actual murder site—a high school where grisly killings had taken place. The movie tried to be a mix of horror and comedy, but critics weren’t laughing. According to Rotten Tomatoes reviewer Dustin Putman, it had “only one scene that is actually scary, and it has to do...

Paul Rudd made his big-screen debut in Amy Hecklering's high-profile modernization of Jane Austen's "Emma," "Clueless" in 1995. He immediately gained a great deal of attention because he was very handsome, and he was very funny. Fun trivia: Rudd was 25 when he filmed "Clueless" in 1995 and, in 2024, he somehow only looks 31. Before "Clueless," Rudd appeared in a Super Nintendo commercial, and he had a recurring role in later seasons of the soap opera "Sisters." He also starred in all six episodes of the short-lived 1994 Fox sitcom "Wild Oats." These days, Rudd is a massive movie star, having established himself as one of the better comedic actors of his generation, and becoming involved with the gigantic Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing Ant-Man.
But he wasn't always playing with power. Many actors make their way into the mainstream through the portal of horror, starting their careers in slasher movies and ghost stories. Adam Scott,...

Double Oscar winner George Clooney has become one of the most successful people in his profession but despite family connections (his aunt was the late singer Rosemary Clooney), he struggled for years to make it as an actor.
After dropping out of college, Clooney would try his hand at acting. He struggled for a few years until finding a part on “E/R” in 1984. This wasn’t the “ER” that would make him a star 10 years later, but instead was a short-lived sitcom with the same name. In the decade between those shows, Clooney became known mostly for his track record of starring in an incredibly large number of pilots that weren’t picked up to be made into series. He would score a few successes with recurring roles on “The Facts of Life,” “Sisters” and “Roseanne,” but he would also suffer brutal humiliations like starring in “Return to Horror High...

The Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox is home to a variety of unique horror content, from originals and exclusives to cult classics and documentaries. With such a rapidly-growing library, there are many hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Here are five recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.
Norway
At the Abigail premiere, Dan Stevens listed Norway among his four favorite vampire movies. “I just saw a great movie recently that I’d never heard of,” he told Letterboxd. “A Greek film called Norway, about a vampire who basically exists in the underground disco scene in ’80s Athens, and he can’t stop dancing ’cause he’s worried his heart will stop. And it’s lovely. It’s great.”
You won’t find a better endorsement than that, but allow me to elaborate. Imagine Only Lovers Left Alive meets What We Do in the Shadows by way of Yorgos Lanthimos. The...

The episode of Revisited covering Hatchet was Written by Emilie Black, Narrated by Niki Minter, Edited by Kier Gomes, Produced by Tyler Nichols and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
By the start of the 2000s, there were so many slasher films out there that it was difficult to figure which ones were worth the time and which were not, something that hasn’t changed much since then. However, the mid-2000s saw a few fun surprise slasher films make their way onto screens including films like Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon and today’s film of interest, Hatchet (watch it Here). Coming from a writer-director who knows the genre and has tremendous respect for it, Hatchet was one of those films most of the public didn’t see coming, one that was a bit out of left field if you didn’t pay attention...

The 1980s, especially the mid-1980s, were basically the heyday of slasher films, many of them were being released each year in theaters and direct-to-video, some of them making huge box office numbers like the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, the Friday the 13th movies, and the Halloween movies. Non-franchise films were not as big both financially and critically but they didn’t do too badly either. Then came Return to Horror High in 1987 (watch it Here). Some would say that the film was ahead of its time, being a very meta horror comedy about slasher films, having endings within endings, and twisting the sub-genre on its head. The episode of Best Horror Movie You Never Saw covering The Fear was Written by Andrew Hatfield, Narrated by Jason Hewlett, Edited by Paul Bookstaber, Produced by John Fallon and Tyler Nichols, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Not every horror movie needs a recognizable slasher villain like Jason or Freddy to be an enjoyable watch. Sometimes, you just need the right type of oddball ingredients to catch lightning in a bottle and even then, there is no guarantee that your movie ends up in that upper echelon of hidden gem horror. Today’s movie, The Fear from 1995, had such a limited release and was overlooked by so many at the time that there is a good chance it’s the best horror movie you’ve never even heard of! While it’s lacking in a few areas, there are a couple things that make it unique and special enough...

Philip McKeon, known for playing the son of Linda Lavin’s titular character in the classic CBS sitcom “Alice,” has died. He was 55.
The actor died Tuesday morning in Texas following a longtime illness, family spokesman Jeff Ballard confirmed to Variety.
“We are all beyond heartbroken and devasted over Phil’s passing,” said Ballard. “His wonderful sense of humor, kindness and loyalty will be remembered by all who crossed his path in life.”
McKeon played the role of Tommy Hyatt on “Alice” from 1976 to 1985. Following that, he appeared in several other TV shows including the NBC crime drama “CHiPs,” and a pair of ABC series, “Fantasy Island” and “The Love Boat,” in 1984. On the film side, McKeon appeared mostly in horror pics, among them “Return to Horror High” and “Ghoulies 4.”

Greetings, everyone! Welcome to what is the final Blu-ray and DVD recap of 2018, as it seems like we have no major genre home media releases coming home next week on Christmas. That being said, the year is ending on a strong note, as we have a number of essential titles hitting various formats this Tuesday.
Scream Factory is keeping busy with their Collector’s Edition releases of Dracula: Prince of Darkness as well as John Carpenter’s Starman (two of my personal favorites!), and Arrow Video has put together a stellar Special Edition of Bloody Birthday for this week as well. As far as recent theatrical titles go, The House With a Clock in Its Walls, The Predator, A Simple Favor, and Venom all arrive on various formats this Tuesday, and if you’re a completist, there’s a 4-film collection of the Predator movies that 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has assembled,...

The 1981 Slasher Classic Bloody Birthday will be available on Blu-ray December 18th From Arrow Video
The Bad Seed meets Halloween in this deliciously twisted early 80s slasher offering directed by Ed Hunt (The Brain) and starring the always loveable Lori Lethin.
Debbie, Curtis and Steven may seem cute as buttons. But their angelic facade conceals the wicked, murderous streak given to them having all been born under the same solar eclipse. With the grown-ups around them blissfully unaware of their little darlings homicidal tendencies, the evil brats begin to bump off the adults one-by-one. By gun. By arrow. By cake. Bye-bye!
Mixing the killer-kid subgenre with elements of the then-booming slice-and-dice movie, 1981 s Bloody Birthday shocks and appalls with its scenes of young children shooting, strangling and bludgeoning their way through the local population. They sure don t (and can t!) make em like this anymore.

Last year’s AFI Life Achievement Award winner Diane Keaton cooed over George Clooney’s 18-year relationship with a pig. Laura Dern recalled being stranded in Budapest on their first movie, the never-released “Grizzly II: The Predator,” waiting for plane tickets home. Julianna Margulies thanked Clooney, who just turned 57, for tipping her that her “E.R.” character tested well enough to possibly come back to life, something she did not hear from her own agent.
“You’re the real deal,” she said, choking up, reminding the black-tie crowd that “E.R” arrived after 13 failed pilots. “The most important lessons I learned in this town I learned from George.” Richard Kind described George’s foundation as “the boys,” a motley crew that has hung together for three decades and were led by Clooney — before “E.R.” hit — to spend three days cleaning up East L.A. after the riots.

Imagine the following sentence in the “'80s horror trailer guy” voice. In 1982, a killer haunted the halls of Crippen High School, giving it the moniker “Horror High.” Now, in 1987, a movie crew returns to Horror High and may or may not survive retelling the story of these heinous crimes. There will be blood! Lots and lots of blood!
It's been a very long time since I've seen Bill Froehlich's Return to Horror High, starring Brendan Hughes, Scott Jacoby, George Clooney, Maureen McCormick, Lori Lethin, Alex Rocco, Vince Edwards, Al Fann, and Panchito Gómez. In 1982 Crippen High School was the scene of a series of brutal murders and yet the killer was never caught. Now a low budget film crew that includes an ill-fated leading man (Clooney), the pretentious director (Jacoby), a lecherous producer (Rocco) and numerous disposable cast and crew have all returned to Crippen High to film the story of the ’82 murders. But when members of the production staff are stalked and slaughtered one by one it appears the killer has returned… Who will survive? And what will be left of their careers?
So, did anyone see the first film? Actually I’m joking, much like the movie itself. Yes, Return to Horror High is that strange beast – part traditional slasher movie, part comedy, part parody. The...

Blame The Bad Seed (1956) for every murderous moppet that has skipped across the screen in subsequent years. Village of the Damned, The Omen, The Good Son, The Children, and many more have explored the taboo of killer kiddies. One of the oddest of the bunch is Ed Hunt’s Bloody Birthday (1981), a ridiculously fun turn with not just one, but three mini-Mansons on hand to clean up the schoolyard.
Well, that’s a bit of a misnomer, as our rascally trio tends to focus on grown ups, what with their stupid rules against homicide and premature burial. (Don’t worry – one of the protagonists is a classmate who is put in mortal danger. All’s fair.) Bloody Birthday was rolled out twice; first in limited release in April of ’81, and then in ’86 (also limited release). The film made its money back but didn’t earn any good grace from critics...

The time of year for mischief, magic, and scary movies has arrived, and some of the faces we grew up watching came to prominence after being covered in blood. Many of Hollywood’s top actors started their careers in the fear business. Here are eight whose big breaks came through the horror genre. George Clooney, “Return to Horror High”The year was 1987 and Clooney had yet to wow us with his effortless charm, Oscar-winning skills, and great taste in women. The A-lister-in-the-making was busy playing the doomed actor Oliver, who’s fittingly dressed as a police officer, during a string of high school murders. Renée Zellweger, “Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation”The “Bridget Jones’s Diary” actor teamed up with her fellow Lone Star State native Matthew McConaughey for this “Chainsaw” sequel in 1994. Both would go from sporting fake blood to winning real Oscars. Kevin Bacon, “Friday the 13th”Before “Footloose,...

The ratty hair, the twisted teeth, the oily flesh. No, I'm not talking about the newest movie monster. I'm talking about our awkward high school years! In celebration of the release of All Cheerleaders Die, we're taking a look back at the Top 9 High School Horrors.
Looking back, we can remember plenty of high school horrors, and combination skin is just one of them. There were a lot of possibilities for this list, and we've got 9 of our favorites listed below. But we would have to flunk ourselves if we didn't turn in an honor roll of honorable mentions.
Of course another Lucky McKee film, The Woods, has to be listed, as does Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And those vivacious vixens from The Craft turned up the heat in their high school, and nobody - and we mean nobody - survives Cherry Falls.

At the tail end of last year, Gregory Burkart presented you with his top 10 favorite horror inspired music videos of the year, a gory collection of horrific imagery mashed together with delightful sounds; a combination that I personally can't get enough of. Be sure to go back and check out his picks, if you missed that post or just want to re-watch some kickass videos.
Today, I've queued up ten more awesome horror-themed music videos that I think you're going to like. So instead of sitting here and talking to you any further, I invite you to turn up the volume and dig in!
Franz Ferdinand: "Evil Eye"
This here is actually the video that inspired this whole list. Released just a few days ago, Franz Ferdinand's new video "Evil Eye" is an absolute must-watch, a blood-soaked ode to those cheesy '80s shot-on-video horror flicks that we all love so much.

“Bloody Birthday” certainly offers a fun early 80s movie for slasher enthusiasts. The twist this time around is there is no Jason Voorhees or Michael Michaels but 10 year old kids! It was certainly up my ally as I like slasher movies that try something different aside from the typical formula used in these movies.
The plot is three-ten-year old kids begin a mass killing spree due to in part to the fact that they were born during an eclipse,...

VHS collectors seem to be coming out of the woodwork lately. What many thought was a dead format seems to be making a major resurgence, similar to the way vinyl did. We wouldn’t dream of telling you that the quality of a VHS cassette provides superior picture, sound, or anything. But it is certainly a lot of nostalgic fun to revisit some of the more obscure VHS only titles by way of your Vcr. Be Kind, Rewind is your one-stop destination for all the information you could ever want about VHS exclusive horror films. We will give you the low-down on the VHS only title we are re-visiting; including where to find it, the going rate, a review of the film, and we will even provide an expert recommendation as to whether the title is worth the money. We will be examining more VHS-only titles in the upcoming weeks,...

The fantastic thing about the VHS years is that the poster art was frequently hand drawn and frequently had very little or nothing to do with the actual film. If you picked a film based solely on the box cover, you had a pretty good chance of being disappointed or at least surprised. Distributors seemed to see a snazzy box cover as a good way to get some mileage out of a subpar film. That still goes on today, but it seems to happen less frequently and the artwork just isn’t the same. In spite of the trickery that duped more than a couple of horror fans in the ‘80s and early ‘90s, there are some terrific and legitimate films that have terribly misleading – albeit awesome – cover art. Forthat reason, we present to you ten shining examples of awesomely misleading film artwork. Chopping Mall If you were to take...

Last week, I embarked on a fun little assignment to pull together a batch of teaser trailers for horror sequels; the one criteria being that they all had to feature exclusive footage specifically shot and used just for that trailer. One of the greatest aspects of putting together articles like this is that after I finish them, I like to open up the discussion amongst my Facebook friends and see if we agree or if they have other suggestions I could’ve possibly gone with. While I already had my horror sequels picked out, I got a handful of terrific recommendations for teaser trailers featuring original footage for non-sequel horror movies. So, low and behold, I thought these awesome teasers warranted a separate article and man, some of these are cool as all hell! Special thanks to Jared Rivet, Jeff Nelson & Sean Keller for pointing out quite a few of these to me,...

Like most horror fans, I'm not always pro remake. There are some films that simply should not be remade. However, I am supportive of remaking a film if the creative team behind the reboot can bring something new to the table or improve upon what the original film did, in some way. Case in point, Tobe Hooper improved on the source material in his 2004 remake of The Toolbox Murders. Hooper's remake was a more cohesive film than the original and was more effective at keeping its viewer engaged throughout the film. The original was poorly paced with the entire middle of the film being exhaustively sluggish. As for bringing something new to the table, James Gunn and Zak Snyder didn't outdo the original Dawn of the Dead with their 2004 reimagining, but that's not what the duo was trying for. Instead, they provided a highly enjoyable companion piece with their reboot...

Graduation Day is a high school slasher and there are tons and tons of these films out there... and oddly enough they are all virtually identical. From Cutting Class to Prom Night to Return to Horror High to Scream (which more paid homage to them than anything in my opinion) they all follow the same basic building blocks. Some horrible tragedy or prank perpetrated in the past gets avenged by masked killer. Many teens die multiple red herrings teenage sexual hijinks yada yada yada. You get the point.

After almost a two minute scene featuring George Clooney in 1987's Return to Horror High the following mash-up video from Flavorwire features several big name actors in their early horror film roles. I'm sure many of them have probably forgotten these films, but once reminded could probably tell you some fantastic stories. The video was edited by Flavorwire's Jason Bailey to the tune of John Lennon's "Scared". The names included in the video in order of appearance are: George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Steve McQueen, Jennifer Connelly, Jennifer Aniston, Julianne Moore, Isla Fisher, James McAvoy, Keira Knightley, Naomi Watts, Sharon Stone, Johnny Depp, Patricia Arquette, Laurence Fishburne, Evangeline Lilly, Kevin Bacon, Jamie Lee Curtis, Dana Carvey, Paul Rudd, Michelle Williams, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ted Danson, Holly Hunter, Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, Viggo Mortensen, Matthew McConaughey, Renee Zellweger, Jessica Alba, Leonardo DiCaprio, Angela Bassett, Eric Dane, Patrick Dempsey, Jack Black, Bill Maher,...

Not all great cinema stars have the most auspicious beginnings to their lives in celluloid. Some start in commercials, TV, bit parts, background work. Hell, a few even dabble in porn (we're looking at you, Sylvester Stallone).
Ground zero for acting talent, more often than not, is the horror genre. This being Halloween season, we decided to highlight a few mega-talents who jumpstarted their careers in much the same way they entered the world: naked, screaming and covered in blood.
George Clooney, 'Return to Horror High' (1987)
It took the "Ides of March" actor-director a solid decade in show business before he launched into superstardom as Dr. Doug Ross on "ER." Good ol' Gorgeous George may have paid his dues at the school of hard knocks, but he earned his diploma from "Horror High" playing an actor who gets killed by a serial killer while filming a movie about that killer.

Acting is like anything in that success doesn’t come quickly. It’s why we can go back and watch old clips of Brad Pitt whoring for Pringles or Tina Fey talking about the interest rate at Mutual Savings Bank. You have to start somewhere, right? Same goes for motion pictures – for most actors, your first role is going to be some mediocre piece like Return To Horror High or Revenge Of The Creature – but every once in a while an actor or actress starts off at a high point. Here are such high points, awesome first films that you’d be proud to be a part of even if you never did another film ever again. 13. Jeff Goldblum in Death Wish $2.17 for beer and spray paint? A guy could have himself a fun time with five bucks in the 70s. The best part is the frozen chicken… no doubt about it – when they toss that thing...

We can’t promise anything, but the notorious David DeCoteau just might have delivered something slightly better than absolutely horrid with Snow White, A Deadly Summer, hitting DVD on March 12 from Lionsgate. DeCoteau is perhaps best known to fans as the mind behind minor D-classics like Creepazoids (’87), Sorority Babes In The Slimeball Bowl-a-rama (’88), and Puppet Master III (’91), but most recently he has been occupying himself with his “1313″ line, an abysmal series of homoerotic boys-in-underwear pseudo-genre flatliners.
So, the maestro of “eh, I guess it wasn’t as bad as it could have been” returns with Snow White, A Deadly Summer, for which he has actually assembled a decent roster in star Maureen (Return To Horror High, Brady Bunch) McCormick, lovely Shanley Caswell, and Eric Roberts (who must have been on leave from Syfy Network productions at the time). Most impressive is the feat of landing composer Harry (Friday The 13th) Manfredini to score the picture.

Twenty five years ago one of the world's few bonafide movie stars and one of this year's Best Actor frontrunners made his silver screen debut. Internet sources disagree on the exact date -- probably due to the film being a no-budget indie with an erratic release schedule -- but the earliest is January 9th. The point is this: We've now reached a quarter century of Clooney on the big screen!
If you investigate a trail of blood in a horror movie, you deserve to die.
Like many stars before and after him, George Clooney's first movie role was in a cheapo horror flick. His was named Return to Horror High (1987). Though Clooney is dispatched in the first fifteen minutes (first victim is an honor in horror casts, yes?) he was a big enough "name" in a field of (mostly) nobodies to get second billing.
He'd already had two short-lived series regular gigs on television,...

Long before George Clooney was recognized as an Oscar-winning actor and one of Hollywood's sexiest men alive, the Kentucky native was just another unlucky cop patrolling a haunted high school in his awesomely awful '80s film debut, "Return to Horror High."
Back in 1987, Clooney was a fresh-faced, big-haired (but who wasn't) 26-year-old actor looking to make a name for himself on the big screen. After spending a few years at the University of Cincinnati where he majored in Broadcast Journalism, Clooney moved to Los Angeles and started scoring bit parts on television series like "E/R", a short-lived medical show (not to be mistaken with NBC's hit drama "ER" which made Clooney a star a decade later) and "The Facts of Life," where he played a hunky handyman.
After those minor jumping off points, Clooney was cast in his first feature film as Oliver, a beautifully coiffed cop in...

Oh. My. God. Image Entertainment, you have made my day! The announcement of the lineup for Image's Midnight Madness Series has set my feet to dancing. And if you're a fan of '80's horror, you might find a little Michael Flatley in yourself because this is a killer list of films.

So, the last few days have shown us that writer Collins and director Ross decided to finally go ahead and cast black people in their movie (probably because everyone got pissed that they kept casting white people in all the ethnic roles), but now have finally moved on to casting white people again.

District 12 tributes will be played by white people Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss) and Josh Hutcherson (Peeta), and the District 11 tributes will be played by black actors Dayo Okeniyi (Thresh) and Amandla Stenberg (Rue). Every fancy pants movie star has a skeleton in their closet that they don’t want to speak of. Whether it is Jason Alexander in The Burning, Tom Hanks in He Knows You’re Alone, or Demi Moore in Parasite – some of the biggest names in show business have started off their careers doing horror films. Perhaps the biggest of them all is ladies man George Clooney, who cut his teeth on the films Return of the Killer Tomatoes, and my spotlight movie of the day – Return to Horror High. Instead of talking to George, I got in touch with actress Lori Lethin to wax nostalgic about this overlooked slasher.
Jason Bene: After starring in Bloody Birthday and The Prey, were you happy to do another slasher film, especially one that was spoofing the genre?
Lori Lethin: I loved doing Return to Horror High. I thought it was so...

As a movie nerd, I'm attracted to cinematic train wrecks. I love learning about how movies went drastically wrong and the cinematic schlock that once stuffed video store walls and now fills up video streaming services. Obviously, I want to see all the great films, but there's also something to be said about movies where everything went horribly wrong. Furthermore, it's not enough to know the "popular" terrible movies. True cinephiles know how to dig deeper into filmographies and find the real travesties. Author Dan Whitehead is a true cinephile and has used his encyclopedic knowledge of movies to compile an engaging overview of A-list actors slumming in Z-movie hell. And if you're thinking, "Yeah, we all know George Clooney was in Return of the Killer Tomatoes," Whitehead fires back with "Yeah, but have you seen him in Return to Horror High?" Return To Horror High
Stars: George Clooney, Maureen McCormick, Vince Edwards, Brendan Hughes, Scott Jacoby, Lori Lethin, Alex Rocco | Written by Bill Froehlich, Mark Lisson | Directed by Bill Froehlich
In 1982 Crippen High School was the scene of a series of brutal murders and yet the killer was never caught. Now a low budget film crew that includes an ill-fated leading man (Clooney), the pretentious director (Jacoby), a lecherous producer (Rocco) and numerous disposable cast and crew have all returned to Crippen High to film the story of the ‘82 murders. But when members of the production staff are stalked and slaughtered one by one it appears the killer has returned… Who will survive? And what will be left of their careers?
So, did anyone see the first film? Actually I’m joking, much like the movie itself. Yes, Return to Horror High is that strange beast – part traditional slasher movie, part comedy,...

The UK’s very own Horror channel are heading back to high school this month for a veritable feast of terrified teens, haunted classrooms, wayward witches and dead cheerleaders… all of which sounds like my idea of B-movie heaven!

George Clooney has dabbled in the horror genre many times including classics like From Dusk Till Dawn and obscurities like Return to Horror High. Since he became a mega-star, however, we haven't seen much of him, but thankfully that's about to change.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Fox 2000 has acquired the film rights to Douglas Preston and Mario Spezi's best-selling book The Monster of Florence with George Clooney attached to star. Chris McQuarrie is writing the screenplay with his Valkyrie co-writer Nathan Alexander.

ChaCha put together a list of actors who have died the most in their movies. Topping the list is Robert De Niro with fifteen deaths, including ones in "Cape Fear," "Frankenstein" and "Jackie Brown." Bruce Willis also made the list and was actually killed twice by his ex-wife Demi Moore in "Mortal Thoughts" and "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle." Brad Pitt is in top ten as well, but his deaths are a bit odd. He died in "Cool World," but returned as an animated character. He died in "Fight Club," but never actually existed. And he died in "Meet Joe Black," but came back as Death. The list is far from perfect, since it doesn't include Leonardo DiCaprio (The Departed, Titanic, Blood Diamond), Kevin Spacey (Se7en, American Beauty, La Confidential), Samuel L. Jackson (Deep Blue Sea, True Romance, Jurassic Park), or John Travolta (Pulp Fiction, Face/Off, The Punisher). Plus, there...

There are some films which lay undisturbed in the video vault, and with good reason, others are waiting to be rediscovered and that is the joy of this box set.
To instantly decry these films as exploitative trash is to miss the point, though it is not an unjustified criticism – if you’re interested in a grotesque menagerie of terrible acting, bargain basement creature features and Killer Tomatoes, Slugs, Crocodiles and other mutated monsters then this is for you.
This DVD boxset is a treat, and when I opened the boxset I greeted some of the DVDs as old friends from a time when I would plunder the local video shop with my friends to seek out the bizarre and the ridiculous, and there will be B-Movie aficionados who will have seen every Slug induced death or enjoyed ex-wrestler ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper’s surreal post-apocalyptic travels to Frogtown, but there...

Like your movies tacky, kitsch and low-budget? Then The B-Movie Collection is your wet dream. Boulevard Entertainment has brought together no less than 12 enjoyably terrible B-pics from the vaults of late night strangeness.
Included are George Clooney's defining role in Return Of The Killer Tomatoes (as well as his lesser known work Return To Horror High), the awesome 80s-ness of Roddy Piper (of They Live fame) in Hell Comes To Frogtown and the chainsaw-wielding Elvira: Mistress Of The Dark.
Clearly no B-Movie collection would be complete without a handful of angry and/or genetically modified animals on the loose, and here is no exception with an astounding spread of different species: Crocodile, Octopus, Rats, Slugs, Spiders, as well as the more vague Creature, and finally, The Stuff. There's even a colourised version of Night Of The Living Dead squeezed in. Phew.
The movies are available either in a sequentially...
