While most slasher throwbacks drawn inspiration from the tried-and-true staples of the genre, the upcoming Pigshit is described as “a gruesome love letter to deep-fried ’80s slasher classics like Slaughterhouse and Motel Hell.

The squeal is real in the teaser below from Astronomic Studios.

The film follows a group of young adults who return to an abandoned pig farm for a late-night party. Unbeknownst to them, the farm holds a dark secret—years ago, a young boy met a horrific end there, and his grieving father vanished into the woods.

Back in 1987, writer/director Rick Roessler and producer Jerry Encoe teamed up to bring the world the slasher film Slaughterhouse (watch it Here) – a movie that has been a favorite of mine ever since I rented it on VHS at a very young age. Roessler always had thoughts of making a sequel, but the project never made it into production… Until earlier this year. Slaughterhouse 2: Death Metal was filmed in and around the Motor Transport Museum and old feldspar mill in Campo, California, and now it’s ready to have its world theatrical premiere as part of the Popcorn Reef screening series at the Regal Mira Mesa theatre in San Diego, California. In the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, those lucky enough to find themselves playing the victims will face the daunting task of attempting to escape, through exits around the map, from the horrific, murderous family hunting them down. Therefore, knowing where to find all the exits is not only recommended, but essential if victims have any hope of escape.

One of the more horrifying map locations in the game that will constantly remind victims what they're running from is the Slaughterhouse map. As expected, since it is the same for every other Texas Chainsaw Massacre map, there are four different exits on the Slaughterhouse map with each one being decently spaced out from the others.

As stated, there are four different exits and each one will have its own requirements. First up is the Loading Dock Exit. For the loading dock, victims will need to track down the Car Battery.

Funko Games continues their exploration of horror tabletop games, this time basing tabletop game Texas Chainsaw Massacre Slaughterhouse on the popular horror film franchise.

From the press release, Funko Games details: “In this all-out game, you, the player, have two options – survive or die trying, at least on the gameboard. While the ferocious Sawyer family is played by one player, the other players will play as unfortunate travelers doing everything they can to not be the next victims. It’s a game that lets players feel like a part of the world of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, all without the high stakes.”

In other words, it’s survive the player hunting trespassers as a member of the Sawyer family, while the remaining players must outlast and survive lest they end up on the dinner menu.

After orchestrating one of the wildest Head of Household reigns in “Bb” history, Frenchie immediately paid for it when the current Hoh, Kyland Young, took the opportunity to send him out for air hugs with host Julie Chen Moonves.

The difference between Week 1 and Week 2 in the “Big Brother 23” house is like total whiplash, but after last week’s pandemonium, anything seems calm. Monday was another quiet day after Derek X. didn’t use the Veto as expected, keeping Frenchie and Britini on the block and officially numbering the former’s days.

Frenchie didn’t do any campaigning and continued to insist he won’t because he’s cool with going home to see his kids, which is a low-key form of campaigning. The most he did was vocalize that he hopes it won’t be a unanimous vote because he wants a pity vote. Derek F. volunteered to give him one, with Britini present. Britini claimed she doesn’t care, but since her nomination, she’s been aggressively cam-talking about how these people don’t know what they’re in for and she won’t take anything less...

Monday was the first day in the “Big Brother 23” house since Frenchie‘s first night as Hoh where things were relatively quiet. That’s partially because the Veto ceremony went down as expected: Derek X. saved Kyland, and despite trying to pull some funny business in the lead-up, Frenchie picked Travis as the renom as he had planned since Saturday.

Right now, Travis is likely to be the unlucky first eviction on Thursday as everyone seems onboard with booting him over Alyssa. Neither has started campaigning yet, so we’ll see, but the house wants to keep Alyssa more, and even though Frenchie is only nominally in power until Thursday, a Travis exit means he will have fulfilled his goal of evicting a meathead. He just took the craziest, most unnecessary route getting there.

This Tuesday, Vinegar Syndrome is giving a high-def overhaul to another cult classic, Slaughterhouse, and for those who may have missed it during its successful festival run, Arrow Video is releasing We Are The Flesh on multiple formats, too.

Other notable releases for February 28th include Doctor Strange, Ape 3D (aka A*P*E*), Child Eater, The Raid Collection, The Creature Below, Shut In, and When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth (1970).

When it comes to the Eighties we tend to have rose-tinted glasses when it comes to horror. If a film makes lots of money and gains a fan base then it is more than likely that some cheap imitations will appear to try to make a profit off expectations. Slaughterhouse is a film that feels like it fits very much in this category, though on repeat viewings surprisingly becomes quite charming.

While many films prospered during the DVD era, the slasher subgenre is being treated with more love and respect in this Blu-ray age, and that suits me just fine! Case in point: The 1987 slasher flick Slaughterhouse will see an HD bow sometime next year.

So today I received a message from Rick Roessler, the producer and director of the cult classic film "Slaughterhouse," requesting the use of the Mortician song "Slaughterhouse" for inclusion in the ending credits of the Blu-ray release of the film. Where do I begin? Um... how fast can we say yes? Since that is a Relapse Records owned song, they will have to deal with them, but we of course said yes and hope it happens. Buddy has an ax to grind and he wants you to watch the mayhem! A long forgotten late 1980s slasher deserves some props for being a fairly entertaining “B” horror movie in a time when slashers became non-existent or really bad. I found this movie randomly in a thrift store for 50 cents. I found it on VHS from a company known as Charter Entertainment. This movie was barely released when it came out. The movie deserves some recognition due to its amusing villains alone. This movie is also known in some parts as “Bacon Bits.”

The plot is fairly simple. Lester Bacon’s slaughterhouse property is being foreclosed and he is really upset that the town officials are closing on it. Lester’s mentally inept son Buddy takes lives before this process but Lester decides killing these folks is a splendid idea for revenge. If...

It’s that time of year again, kids. Dread Central’s 2010 Horror at the Oscars coverage. Horror was indeed present this year and in black-tie. While Roger Corman and Lauren Bacall were honored a few months back at the Governor’s Award Ceremony, it was an unexpected delight to see Corman, recipient of the lifetime achievement Oscar, enjoy a standing ovation on national television.

I was, however, very disappointed that neither of them were allowed to speak. Roger Corman’s contributions to modern cinema are too vast for him to just stand up and wave. James Cameron was one of many Corman acolytes present, and his nomination speaks to Corman’s tremendous legacy. On the Terminator DVD Cameron mentions, "I trained at the Roger Corman Film School.” Jonathan Demme, Martin Scorsese, and Francis Ford Coppola, among many others, were also former students.
