Suryavanshi review :
Long before Akshay Kumar's similar titled film was to hit theatres, his close competitor Salman Khan had starred in and as Suryvanshi - Bollywoods take on the Gladiator - with bit of punar janam formula thrown in.
Salman and the sexy Sheeba get married but prefer to remain "friends" only and sing songs until they travel to the ancient palace which is haunted by Salman's past life lover Amrita Singh. The atrupt aatma wreaks havoc in the newly weds life. A similar plot was handled before by Raj Kumar Kohli in Bees Saal Baad (1988).
Of the cast, Amrita Singh was superlative as the ghost queen. Sheeba looked extremely hot and sexy in the film especially in the sensous song with Salman. But somehow, Sallu Bhaijaan did not fit in to the Gladiator inspired role as he was too young to carry it off in 1992. This film should've been made in 2010s when the star had matured enough to pull off anything and everything.
Overall, not a bad film at all but sadly, Suryavanshi didnt work at the ticket windows. I saw it on VHS on first day of its release and enjoyed it.

A good horror film for the early 90's.
Me and my brother used to be terrified of Amrita Singh in this movie.
I believe the film is very underrated.
It was very different and unique for its time. It's not classified as a horror film but as a romantic thriller. However, I still found it scary as a kid.
This is definitely one of Salman's better films during that era, although it was a flop.
If you like supernatural mysteries, You will love this film. But keep in mind that it was made in 1992.
The reason it was a flop is because bollywood film watchers weren't used to something like this.
The film has everything; comedy, action, suspense, horror, mystery, fantasy and off course, singing and dancing (this is bollywood after all)

May be people during 1992 were not used to watch this kind of movies. But guys, this is really one of the best movie i have ever seen. What i liked most was the script of the movie and obviously the role of Amrita Singh, she was amazing in the film. Sheeba looked very cute in the movie and obviously Salman Khan - no words for his great acting. I have seen this movie 5 times. It always look great. If people have not seen this movie yet, I will recommend them to see it. Horror, Action, Romance, Good script, Music - everything is in the film. One of the great horror films. Even today you can enjoy the story. Enjoy and have a great fun watching this movie.
I watched this movie when I was a kid n really scared n even now after 25 years it still have the power to scare you n I think it was the best n by far the excellent movie of 90s n don't know why rated only 4.5 n about acting Amrita Singh was unbelievable in her role n Salman Khan was brilliant to watch as Suryavanshi n every character of this masterpiece like Kadar Khan Sahab , Shakti kapoor Sahab n lead Actress Sheeba played her part superbly n it was a complete package of thrill, suspense, mystery n full of horror n a must watch movie so 10/10 from me for this amazing movie.
Watched this when I was a kid it was good movie by that time standards I remember watching it and being scared but it wasnt a movie that sticks long in memory watched it on tv recently again and found I got bored but that's because in this time and age we expect horror to be different then back in 1993 it was love stories and romantic stories mixed with horror.
