Chris Evans Was Perfectly Cast As Casey Jones In This 17-Year-Old Tmnt Movie That Never Got A Sequel
Although Tmnt is one of the more forgotten Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle adaptations, it features a perfectly cast Chris Evans as Casey Jones, which makes it worth a watch. Released in 2007, Tmnt follows the turtles shortly after the defeat of the Shredder, the main antagonist to the turtles in the franchise. In the animated movie, Chris Evans voices Casey Jones, April's boyfriend and an ally to the turtles.
Even though Tmnt never got the sequel it deserved, it is a great standalone movie that features aspects of previous Tmnt adaptations. Evans' Casey Jones, in particular, is heavily inspired by the Casey voiced by Marc Thompson in the 2003 animated series and Pat Fraley in the 1987 Tmnt movie. Chris Evans' history in the superhero genre especially adds to the significance of his casting in the 2007 version.

When Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem opened a year ago, it hit like a mutagen bomb. Despite our fab four characters of Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael being around for decades—this year marks their 40th(!) anniversary—never before had anyone really thought about treating them like… teenagers.
In the dizzyingly animated film, the characters were played by real adolescents like Nicolas Cantu (Leo), Micah Abbey (Donnie), Shamon Brown Jr. (Mikey), and Brady Noon (Raph). None of whom were old enough to vote when first stepping into the recording booth—a place where they recorded entirely together and in a style apropos of writers and producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The creatives who long favored spontaneity, and in this case the filmmakers wanted to catch the giggling authenticity of youth.
But you can’t be a kid forever, even if you’re a pizza-loving turtle in a half-shell.

The 2014 Tmnt movie reboot brought a new take on the franchise, emphasizing fun, adventure, and updated character dynamics. Despite initial controversy, the Tmnt movies of the 2010s successfully incorporated elements from recent comics, keeping the series fresh and engaging. The first live-action film in the reboot showcased epic ninja action and offered a more serious tone, appealing to nostalgic viewers on streaming platforms.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 breaks a 21-year franchise record with a 2026 release date. Extended production time for the sequel indicates a focus on refining the unique animation style. With a longer gap before the sequel, a new TV series will bridge the wait for more turtle adventures.
The announcement that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 is in development breaks a longstanding 21-year franchise sequel record. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was created by comic book artists Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, who published the first issue of the comics in 1984. The success of the series paved the way for Murakami-Wolf-Swenson animation studio to produce the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, which premiered in 1987 and ran for almost a decade, in turn laying the groundwork for more adaptations.

The 2007 Tmnt film is a pseudo-sequel to the 1990s live-action Tmnt movies, but it doesn't make the connection obvious. Clues hidden in the animation suggest that the 2007 Tmnt is a sequel to the live-action series, as evidenced by items from the previous films hidden in Splinter's trophy room. Despite mixed reviews from critics, Tmnt remains one of the best Tmnt movies due to its creative use of nostalgia, great fight scenes, and beautiful stylization.

If audiences are tired of reboots and sequels, that hasn’t stopped them from flocking to see the latest “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie. Even as anticipated tentpoles like “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning” and “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” have failed to break even at the box office, Paramount’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” managed to recoup half its $70 million budget five days after its release.
The animated movie’s success isn’t totally surprising given its comparatively small budget and stacked cast. But given that the last film featuring this IP, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows,” reportedly lost Paramount around $75 million back in 2016, one can’t help but feel the studio took a risk by betting on “Ninja Turtles” again in 2023.
So is “Mutant Mayhem” succeeding because it’s part of an IP that’s nearly 40 years old, or in spite of it?...

For those who were between the ages of nine and 12 in 1990, Steve Barron's film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" was a banner event. It was the first time the ultra-popular mutants were seen in live-action, and Barron did not disappoint. The Turtles were provided by Jim Henson's Creature Shop who constructed full-body foam latex suits for the actors, as well as animatronic, full-head masks. Voice actors would record dialogue, and puppeteers would operate myriad facial servos by remote, making it look like the Turtles were talking. Each of the four title teens required a voice actor, a body actor, a facial puppeteer, and, in a few cases, a fight or skateboarding double. It took 11 actors in total to play four characters.
The result was rather astonishing. The Turtles felt more real than they ever had before or, arguably, since. The facial movements on the mutant masks may have been...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze embraced the 1990s era, incorporating its music, products, and social themes, making it feel like a nostalgic tribute to that time. The film recognized the inherent satire of the Tmnt source material and injected humor throughout, including a hilarious dance sequence with Vanilla Ice. Unlike the newer films, Secret of the Ooze balanced the characters well, allowing all of them to contribute to both the comedic relief and emotional moments, resulting in a more authentic and consistent tone.
To say that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film franchise has been uneven would be putting it mildly. “Ninja rap” might just be the Rosetta Stone of early ‘90s pop culture. For only during this brief and extraordinary moment could a musical act like Vanilla Ice in supersized shoulder pads—and with a slicked-back pompadour that made it look as if he just stepped out of the shower—reign supreme as the fastest-selling hip hop artist ever. Also only in that same context could he then be convinced to appear in a movie where he’d dance on stage with full-grown men wearing elaborate puppeteer costumes that made them resemble a beloved Saturday morning cartoon show.
Yet in 1991 all these things happened, and they were all massive hits. Truly, then, the third act of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Secret of the Ooze is a convergence point for everything gaudy and overwrought in the American zeitgeist of its era. And it’s time to stop pretending like that’s a bad thing.

Who could have guessed that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s small, black-and-white indie comic about anthropomorphic crime-fighting turtles that began as a parody of superhero storytelling would not only be around forty years later but also have the love and investment of several generations of fans? Whether you discovered the Turtles through the toys, the various TV shows, or the movies, audiences have been lucky enough to have at least one defining iteration of these heroes.

One night, two struggling cartoonists had what turned out to be a billion-dollar idea. What if Frank Miller’s Daredevil had human-sized turtles in it? From that question came the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a quartet of brothers named after Renaissance artists who fought the Shredder and his Foot Clan (a spoof of perpetual Daredevil baddies the Hand). Who could have guessed that the self-published comic Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird created would launch a phenomenon, one that survived its first boom in the late ‘80s and crash in the mid-1990s? It has since gone on to become an enduring pop culture franchise which is still going strong after several decades. Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael have leaped out of the sewers and into every type of media, including video games and toys. Nonetheless, the characters are never more exciting than when they hit the big screen.

For many, the live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films of the '90s are still the best iteration of the heroes on the big screen. Thanks to the state-of-the-art animatronic costumes created by Jim Henson's Creature Shop, the three films in the trilogy delivered a realism that CGI simply can't match. The "man in a rubber suit" aspect of the costumes only worked in the films' favor, adding a comic element to the action on screen that fits the tone perfectly. While the first film was successful, the two sequels couldn't quite match up, with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III effectively ending the era on a low note. Had its fortunes been more favorable, however, there were plans for a fourth film in the franchise: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: The Foot Walks Again.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie serves as a perfect origin story for new fans, as it doesn't require additional background knowledge and puts no burden on the viewer to do any independent research. The film features bold animation style that captures the mix of humor and action that has made the series iconic, with each character uniquely stylized in a way that makes them easy to distinguish. The movie also introduces better interpretations of beloved supporting characters, such as Casey Jones and April O'Neil, allowing them to be more involved in the action and adding depth to the story.
While the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise has a proud history in both comics books and on television, the films have generally struggled to bring the unique tone of the characters to life. Since there have been Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics intended for both children and adults,...

Even though they are among one of the most popular media franchises of all time, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles saga has always had difficulty transitioning to the big screen. It makes sense that Paramount Pictures would want to bring Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo to movie theaters to become the studio’s signature superhero saga with the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, despite complaints of superhero fatigue.
The characters, stories, and action of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics and graphic novels look great when brought to life with stunning animation, but this has sadly mostly been seen on the small screen. While 1990’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film and its sequel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze, are both fun nostalgic favorites, their goofy costumes and popular culture references to 1990s hits mean they have not aged very well. Comparatively, the next film,...

Jackie Chan's casting in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is a significant step up for the franchise, and his influence can be seen in the fight scenes. Chan's relatability, comedic rhythm, and disadvantaged starting point in his fight sequences inspired the creative team behind the movie. The casting of Chan as Splinter adds racial authenticity to the character, as he is only the third actor of Asian descent to play the role in the Turtles franchise.
As his casting proves to be an important step up for the movies, co-writer/director Jeff Rowe reveals how two Jackie Chan classics inspired Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem's fight scenes. The upcoming animated movie acts as a reboot of the Turtles' big screen franchise, following their early days of crime fighting as they go up against an army of mutants led by the ruthless Superfly. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is bringing its titular characters back to the big screen for the first time since 2016 in a movie that gives the Ninja Turtles the “Spider-Verse treatment.” Mutant Mayhem is set to focus on the “Teenage” aspect of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and will present younger versions of Leo, Raph, Donnie, and Mikey as they encounter their first major adventure. Despite following younger versions of the Ninja Turtles, Mutant Mayhem includes several classic Tmnt characters. While there have been dozens of Tmnt interpretations over the years, the franchise needs something fresh and exciting when it comes to theatrical movies.
Prior to Mutant Mayhem, the most recent Tmnt movie was also an animated production. Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was a spinoff that worked as a direct sequel to the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles season 2, featuring the same cast and animation style.

The original Max series “Full Circle” debuts on July 13. Directed by Steven Soderbergh, the new drama investigates a kidnapping gone wrong in New York, revealing the secrets and lies of multiple characters. Or as the trailer warns: “Everything is connected.” The six-episode limited series stars Zazie Beetz, Claire Danes, Jim Gaffigan, Jharrel Jerome, Timothy Olyphant, and Dennis Quaid.
Watch the “Full Circle” trailer:
The four-part documentary “Last Call: When A Serial Killer Stalked Queer New York” is set in the early 1990s as the AIDS crisis worsens. The media’s distorted coverage of the gay victims, coupled with the homophobic biases of the criminal justice system, undermine the investigation. The docuseries — which premieres on Max on July 9 — illustrates how the LGBTQ+ community fought to solve the murders and demand attention for those murdered.

Warning: contains spoilers for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II #5!Iconic Power Rangers hero Tommy Oliver - aka the original '90s Green Ranger - just got a mind-blowing new power. In their most recent team-up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Power Rangers have been stripped of their usual powers. However, by tapping into the Morphin Grid via mutagen ooze, the Rangers have been able to adopt new forms as the Mighty Mutant Power Rangers, turning into the dinosaurs fans know from their iconic Zords.

This is a big year for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Not only is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem releasing in cinemas in August, but March also marks the 30th anniversary of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III. Considered to be one of the worst depictions of the martial artist amphibians onscreen, and a lacking successor to its two previous live-action hits, the New Line Cinema release marked the end of a largely successful franchise that began with Jim Henson. But the mutant mania didn’t have to end there. In fact, it almost didn’t.
Many people aren’t aware that a fourth instalment to the series almost came to fruition. The canceled project won’t ever see the light of day, but modern fans who’ve since witnessed many animated, comic book, and even Michael Bay-produced CGI versions of the character, will surely be intrigued by what could’ve been.

Netflix is ringing in the new year in atypical fashion. Throughout 2021, the streaming giant’s original offerings swelled while its library titles shrunk. With its list of new releases for January 2022, however, Netflix is expanding its non-original market quite a bit.
Jan. 1 sees the arrival of a truly stunning amount of impressive non-Netflix movies and TV shows. The big titles available on the first of the month include: 300, Interview with the Vampire, Paranormal Activity, Superman Returns, Terminator 2, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and much more. Later on in the month, Netflix is also set to add Phantom Thread (Jan. 16) to its roster.

The costumes that were made for the original live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films were pretty awesome for the late 80s early 90s. But, those costumes did not stand the test of time very well.
As you’ll see in the photos below, the original screen-used costume for Leonardo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III is rotting into something completely horrifying. It’s in pretty rough shape, but it’s up for auction thanks to the London-based Prop Store.

Batman and the Tmnt have taken on Shredder, Ra's Al Ghul, a mutated Joker, and Bane. Now it's time to save the multiverse from Krang!
News recently broke that in a few months, we’ll be getting a Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie because sometimes the universe truly loves us. The Dark Knight and the Heroes in a Half-Shell have crossed paths a handful of times in the last couple years of comics, starting with early 2016’s Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by James Tynion IV and Freddie E. Williams II. It’s since gotten a sequel and a reimagining.
Now it’s time for part three...or four, technically. On May 1, we’ll be getting Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, again by Tynion and Williams. Oh, and Tmnt co-creator Kevin Eastman will not only be returning to do some covers like the previous miniseries,...

The “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” films are cult classics from the ’90s, but the producers, writers and a director behind the “heroes in a half shell” movies are now demanding payment from Warner Bros. Producers Kim Dawson and Gary Propper, director Steve Barron, writers Bobby Herbeck and Todd Langen and an heir to producer Graham Cottle filed a lawsuit Thursday in the Los Angeles Superior Court against the distributor of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (1990), “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze” (1991) and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III” (1993). The filing states that the six plaintiffs were “entitled to...

Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without a heavily tinseled tree, a tipple before midday and Gremlins on the telly at some point during the day.
The Joe Dante-directed black cult comedy sees protagonist Billy Peltzer being gifted with Gizmo, a cute furry Mogwai discovered by his inventor father in a mysterious Chinatown antique store.
Of course the creature comes with three special instructions which, if not adhered to, result in the spawning of grizzly Gremlins hell-bent on havoc.
The Steven Spielberg-produced movie - which is
currently being fast-tracked by Warner Bros for a remake - celebrated its 30th anniversary earlier this year, and here's what the main cast members got up to after the movie's success:
1. Zach Galligan
Zach Galligan plays William 'Billy' Peltzer who becomes enthralled by his unusual Christmas gift - yet careless with the three golden Gizmo rules.

While actress Judith Hoag was the first actress to bring intrepid reporter April O'Neil to life, starring in 1990's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from director Steve Barron, her tenure as the character was rather short-lived. Not only was she replaced by Paige Turco in both Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, but the brand has since moved even far beyond those movies with the animated Tmnt (featuring Sarah Michelle Geller as the voice of April), and, most recently, Jonathan Liebesman's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles starring Megan Fox. While Hollywood has certainly moved on, Hoag remains one of the franchise's biggest mysteries. Why did she not come back as April O'Neil in the live-action Turtles movies of the 90s? To hear the story from the actress' side, it was because producers weren't too happy about her regular notes. With the...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Rt (19%) – Trailer
It’s been over 20 years since the Tmnt had a live action movie; I know a lot of us like to pretend Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III didn’t happen, but it did. This isn’t the darker/grittier/bloody reboot people were hoping to get after years of rumors that one was being made. Instead it’s a CGI-fest from Platinum Dunes and the director of Wrath of the Titans and Battle Los Angeles. In our lifetime, I’m sure we...
