When it comes to Mike White's TV credits that are not The White Lotus, most people would probably name the gone-too-soon Enlightened, his early work as a writer on Dawson's Creek and Freaks and Geeks, or even his reality stints on The Amazing Race (twice) and Survivor. But one that hardly ever comes up is Pasadena.
The Fox prime-time soap was the first series White created. Named after his California hometown, the show had the nascent marks of what everyone loves about The White Lotus now: a mysterious death, backstabbing, secrets, privileged white people, and even sexual tension between — yes — siblings. From the awkward civil servant Ben Wyatt to the deeply layered Mark Scout, Adam Scott has carved out a spot as one of TV’s most adaptable actors. He has got this knack for flipping between funny and dramatic roles that has won him tons of praise and a loyal group of fans.
Chances are, you have caught him on screen somewhere. Maybe it was his big breakout as the nerdy Ben in Parks and Recreation that first grabbed you. Or maybe you only recently stumbled across him in Apple TV+’s Severance, where he is a man whose consciousness is split between work and personal life. No matter you found him, Adam Scott’s been a steady presence in the industry for over 20 years now.

It's hard to imagine that over 20 years have passed since audiences all around the world were first introduced to the diverse group of passengers of the ill-fated Flight 815 in the 2004 cultural phenomenon Lost, a mind-bending sci-fi supernatural series that focuses on the traumatized survivors as they find themselves stranded on a mysterious tropical island in the South Pacific. Touting a stacked ensemble cast led by Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Josh Holloway, and Naveen Andrews, the smash hit original has widely been regarded as one of the greatest television shows of all time, running for six spellbinding seasons.
Party of Five alum Matthew Fox famously headlined the sci-fi staple, portraying the brilliant-yet-haunted surgeon Jack Shephard, who swiftly emerges as the de facto leader of his fellow survivors and experiences an epic spiritual transformation throughout the course of the acclaimed series. However, it's hard to imagine anyone other than Fox as the capable Jack.

Move over Paramount, Netflix is coming for your audience of Western fans. The biggest streaming platform is trying to capture the spark that Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone, Landman, and other series have ignited by creating their own Western franchises. The year began with American Primeval, an epic Western thriller about the Utah Massacre, and while it wasn't critically acclaimed (though MovieWeb loved it), it was certainly popular. Now comes Ransom Canyon, which cynics may call a Yellowstone rip-off, but which seems poised to certainly attract a strong audience. The synopsis reads as follows:
"Created, written, and executive produced by April Blair, Ransom Canyon is a romance-fueled family drama and contemporary Western saga that charts the intersecting lives of three ranching families, all set against the rugged expanse of Texas Hill Country."
“At its core, Ransom Canyon isn’t just a town. It’s an idea. It’s the painful longing for your first love.

Before Adam Scott became a household name for his comedic roles in TV and film, he was a serious actor with a steady career in drama. However, his path would take an unexpected turn in 2008 when he appeared in Step Brothers, a role that not only gave Scott a name, but made him completely rethink his career path.
What followed was almost two decades of standout roles in some of the best comedies of the era. From Parks and Recreation to Party Down, Scott proved he could be much more than a drama actor – he could be effortlessly funny. However, despite his success in comedy, he never lost his dramatic instincts, finally returning to his roots in Severance, delivering a performance that feels like the culmination of both sides of his career.

Some of Jennifer Love Hewitt's most defining roles are the popular slasher 1997's I Know What You Did Last Summer, the supernatural drama Ghost Whisperer, and the procedural 9-1-1. However, the actress has been in the spotlight since she was very young.
The actress rose to fame after landing the role of Sarah Reeves Merrin on the popular show Party of Five, where she made her debut in 1996, when she was 17. She was just 18 when she gained worldwide recognition thanks to the role of Julie James in I Know What You Did Last Summer. In a new appearance on The Big Bang Theory's Mayim Bialik Breakdownpodcast (via US Weekly), the actress recalled that she used to be very sexualized in the media when she was barely 16.

Jennifer Love Hewitt discussed the wildly inappropriate comments some men would say to her after she appeared as a teenager in the classic horror film, I Know What You Did Last Summer. A loose adaptation of the late author Lois Duncan’s 1973 young adult novel of the same name, Hewitt portrayed Julie James in the 1997 film and its follow-up, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998). The actress spoke about dealing with those troubling sexual comments while appearing on Mayim Bialik's Breakdown podcast. Hewitt said:

In the late 90s, the ultimate “It girl” was Jennifer Love Hewitt. The actress started young in movies like Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit and House Arrest. She would then breakthrough with her role as Sarah in the successful Fox drama series Party of Five. That show led to movies like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Can’t Hardly Wait. She became a 90s sex symbol as she donned the cover of magazines, crossed over into the music business as a singer and became the spokesperson for Neutrogena skin care.

Scott Wolf’s role in the new Fox drama Doc has marked a homecoming for the veteran actor, who became a household name in the ’90s when he starred opposite Matthew Fox and Neve Campbell in the network’s drama Party of Five.

The theme song for "The Big Bang Theory" is a fast-talking deluge of pseudo-nerdy references that are juuust incorrect enough to drive real-life nerds a little big crazy. The full version of the theme, rarely played in its entirety before the show, included enough brainy references to be clever, however. It talks about bipeds evolving, the continent of Pangaea, and it contains the lyric "Australopithecus would really have been sick of us," which I deeply appreciate.
The theme song was written and performed by Canadian rock band Barenaked Ladies, the authors of the famously wordy 1998 hit "One Week." Gen-Xers can likely recite large portions of "One Week", although only committed Barenaked Ladies fans have memorized the entire thing. The band also had charting hits with "It's All Been Done" (also from 1998) as well as "Pinch Me" and "Too Little Too Late." Those paying attention to indie rock in 1992 likely heard...

While right now Scott Wolf is all over TV screens on Doc, playing, as he puts it, “kind of like two characters, a private one and a public one.” That’s kind of full circle for him, since he got his start playing twins on Kids Incorporated in 1991. “I played twins tight out of the gates, complicated stuff,” he recalled when he recently stopped by TV Insider. (Watch the full career look-back above.) That show was where he met Jennifer Love Hewitt, with whom he’d go on to work on Party of Five. “Really fun, a little stressful because it was my first time with a big speaking role.” Wolf also appeared in eight episodes of Saved by the Bell between 1990 and 1992 — but he was only ever technically an extra. Right now, Scott Wolf is on our screens as a doctor on the new Fox drama Doc — and he’s hiding quite the secret — but it’s far from the first drama he played a medical professional. Eleven years ago, he starred as Dr. Jake Hartman on Everwood, which ran four seasons (ending in 2006). When TV Insider recently spoke with Wolf, we had to ask him about his time on that teen drama. “Everwood was a really wonderful experience. Moved my wife and I to Utah, where we still live. Was my first doctor role,” he recalled. “I’ve now played four. Some amazing people on that show. Treat Williams, rest his soul, Chris Pratt, Greg Smith, Emily VanCamp, just like a beautiful cast of actors.” He recalled it begin the first regular role he did after Party of Five (1994-2000); he had guest spots on Spin City and TV movies in between.

Taylor Sheridan is a miniature industry unto himself. He wrote the Oscar hopefuls "Sicario," "Hell or High Water," and "Wind River," as well as the thrillers "Without Remorse" and "Those Who Wish Me Dead." On TV, Sheridan has been blasting barn doors off with "Yellowstone" and its multiple spinoffs, as well as shows like "Tulsa King," "Lioness," and "Landman." These are in addition to a modest acting career that put Sheridan on TV shows like "Walker, Texas Ranger," "Doctor Quinn, Medicine Woman," "Party of Five," "NYPD Blue," "Sons of Anarchy," and even "Star Trek: Enterprise." He also plays the supporting character of Travis Wheatley on "Yellowstone" and Charles on the prequel series "1883."
Sheridan has evolved into the modern torch-bearer for Western machismo, and he is often drawn into the dark hearts of manly men. He also seems to love crime stories, tales of criminals/lawmen, and conflicts that end with gunplay.

Scott Wolf, who is famously known for playing Bailey Salinger in Party of Five and Carson Drew in Nancy Drew, seemed to have left a memorable impact on the series. A veteran actor says that he still gets recognized for his time on NCIS, even though he was only in three episodes. The stalwart CBS procedural is no stranger to bringing in familiar faces to play memorable characters. Even as recently as the NCIS season 22 premiere, Glow and Nobody Wants This actor, Jackie Tohn, was brought in to play a lawyer who knew more than what she was willing to let on.
Other famous guest stars who appeared on NCIS after being well-established include the singer Mya, Halloween's Jamie Lee Curtis, and screen icons such as Bob Newhart. It takes less than three minutes for the latest drama to bear Dick Wolf’s name to drop an F-bomb, adopt the dashcam, and violently kill off a familiar face at point blank range. For a man renowned for his ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it approach’ to network television, it’s akin to Dylan going electric.
Initially planned for IMDb TV and then Freevee before finding a home on Prime Video, “On Call” is also Wolf’s first straight-to-streaming project (“Law & Order: Organized Crime” only moved to Peacock in its fifth season), while each episode is done and dusted within a binge-friendly 30 minutes.
Unlike his other ten and counting procedurals still on the air, Wolf’s role is limited strictly to executive producer. Though having handed over the creative reins to son Elliot (and Tim Walsh), it’s still very much under the Wolf Entertainment...

Family stories have been a television staple for as long as there’s been TV.
They tug at our heartstrings, make us laugh, and remind us that, no matter how chaotic things get, family — whether by blood or by choice — is at the core of the human experience.
But what exactly constitutes “family” has changed dramatically over the years, and television has kept pace, reflecting those shifts in compelling, sometimes groundbreaking ways.
Let’s dive in together and explore how these shows have mirrored our evolving views on what it means to be a family.

Back in the early days of TV, family dramas were practically an extension of a Hallmark card: wholesome, harmonious, and just a little too perfect.
Shows like Leave It to Beaver, Father Knows Best, and The Brady Bunch painted a picture of the ideal nuclear family.

Bradford English had a screen acting career that spanned from 1971 to 2010, and over those 39 years he racked up more than 70 credits – but for many of us, he’s best remembered for playing the drunk, abusive blowhard John Strode in the 1995 horror sequel Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. Sadly, we lost English right before Halloween this year, as it has been reported that he passed away on October 25th in Pasadena, California at the age of 82.
English was born in South Orange, New Jersey on January 16, 1942. His obituary can be found online and says he “was a true force of life and was filled with love. He was a husband and a family man who was survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart Cecelia Gail English. Together they created a beautiful family of four children: James Bradford English Jr., Jeffrey Brennan English, Kristin Lunney English and Colleen Margaret Theresa English.

Netflix has a long, storied history of canceling shows early on in their runs. The winner of the streaming wars may spend billions of dollars on original movies and TV shows, but letting any of those shows live beyond a few seasons is a rarity. 2019's young adult series "The Society" was one of those shows that was a one-and-done, with the series lasting just a single season. But that wasn't the original plan. So, why was this popular series canceled after only one season?
For those who may not be familiar, "The Society" follows a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to an exact replica of their wealthy New England town, only with no trace of their parents to be found. The series hailed from Chris Keyser and Marc Webb with a promising young cast led by then-up-and-comer Kathryn Newton.
Originally, Netflix had renewed "The Society" for a second season.
