Lucasfilm originally planned to continue The Mandalorian with a fourth season, but delays due to labor disputes led them to rethink their approach. Instead, they decided to focus on a movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu, which was officially announced in January 2024. Jon Favreau was set to direct, co-write with Dave Filoni, and produce alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Filoni, and Ian Bryce.

Filming was expected to begin in June 2024, making it the first Star Wars film to move forward since The Rise of Skywalker in 2019.

Filming began under the working title Thunder Alley in June 2024 and lasted 92 days. The production had a large team, with 54 cast members, 3,500 extras, and 500 crew members.

The ‘Star Wars’ universe has been expanding exponentially over the past decade or so, with numerous shows, animated series, and even a ton of new movies. One of the most notable in the bunch was definitely ‘The Mandalorian’ show which aired its third season last year.

Despite Jon Favreau – the creator of ‘The Mandalorian‘ TV series – claiming that the script for ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 4 was finished even before Season 3 officially ended, rumors quickly spread that the show will, in fact, be converted into a movie which was confirmed several weeks ago. Little is known about the movie except for the fact that it will be a continuation of season 3, however, recently working titles have been revealed by Cosmic Circus for both the project focusing on Grogu and Mandalorian and Rey’s next Star Wars Chapter.

The Mandalorian & Grogu and Daisy Ridley's untitled Star Wars movie have received working titles ahead of their respective production starts.

According to The Cosmic Circus, The Mandalorian and Grogu will be filmed under the working title "Thunder Alley", while Ridley's Star Wars movie will be known as "New Jedi Order." Some Star Wars fans may recognize The Mandalorian movie's working title from the Legends novel Before the Storm, which mentioned a region of space along the New Republic borders known as Thunder Alley that the Second Fleet had been patrolling. At this time, it is unknown if Lucasfilm chose the working title "Thunder Alley" purely as an Easter egg or if it means that the upcoming movie will feature the space region and thus bring it back into the official Star Wars canon.

Gayle S. Maffeo, the three-time Emmy-nominated producer who worked on the first season of Roseanne and all eight seasons of another hit ABC sitcom, the Tim Allen-starring Home Improvement, has died. She was 81.

Maffeo died Friday at her home in Los Angeles after a brief battle with cancer, her daughter, Laura, announced.

Maffeo had produced specials starring Frank Sinatra, Jack Benny and George Burns in the 1960s and ’70s before she segued to sitcoms including Nell Carter’s Gimme a Break!, Dabney Coleman’s Buffalo Bill, Mary Tyler Moore’s Mary, Head of the Class and Open All Night.

She served as senior vp television for Matt Williams and David McFadzean’s Wind Dancer Productions, where she produced Roseanne in 1988-89, Home Improvement from 1991-99 and other shows such as Carol Burnett’s Carol & Company, Dan Aykroyd’s Soul Man, Thunder Alley and Buddies.
