FAQ

Rockula

FAQ

In the mid-17th Century, vampire Ralph Lavie (Dean Cameron) met the girl of his dreams, Mona (Tawny Fere' Ellis), and the two fell in love. Subsequently killed with a ham bone by her jealous boyfriend, a pirate with a rhinestone peg-leg, Mona is reincarnated every 22 years and cursed to die on Halloween under the same circumstances (killed with a ham bone by a pirate with a rhinestone peg-leg), while Ralph is cursed to stand by and watch. This year, however, Ralph vows to do something about it.

Rockula is rock comedy conceived and written by American film-makers Luca Bercovici (who also directed), Jefery Levy (who also produced), and Chris Ver Wiel.

In her current incarnation, Mona is a rock star, so Ralph puts together his own band that he names 'Rockula' in order to make it easier to meet her.

Wearing his pirate costume (complete with a rhinestone peg-leg, thanks to the mysterious Madame Ben Wa, Stanley (Thomas Dolby) kidnaps Mona and runs off with her. Just as Stanley is about to bonk her in the head with the ham bone and freeze her cryogenically, Ralph comes to the rescue. As they begin to duel using the ham bone and the peg-leg, Phoebe (Toni Basil) appears and is identified by Stanley as Madame Ben Wa. Phoebe apologizes to Ralph for not wanting to let her little boy leave home and admits that she now realizes he is grown. Ralph and Stanley continue to duel until Ralph turns himself into a bat, causing Stanley to fall into the freezer where he is immediately deep frozen. Ralph, Mona, and Phoebe embrace, happy that the curse has finally ended. In the final scene, Ralph's reflection breaks out of the mirror and, dressed as a rhinestone-studded Elvis Presley, performs the final number while the credits roll.
