The '90s and early on into the next decade saw a true heyday for the sci-fi genre on television. Thanks to TV networks like The Sci-Fi Channel (now Syfy) and premium cable networks, along with cheaper CGI and VFX technology, science-fiction saw a big boom. From Babylon 5 and the lurid Lexx to Stargate: Sg-1, The X-Files, Roswell, and Star Trek series, sci-fi was arguably more popular than ever.

Perhaps the most underrated and arguably the most purely entertaining and fun series of all these, though, was Farscape. Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra is a slightly different case though, given that they’re from the same continuity, allowing for more direct comparison.

Of course, reasons to like either one over the other are perfectly valid, but pretty soon, fans will be able to rewatch both series as much as they want and relive all their favorite moments, as the latter will be joining the former on Netflix. That’s right, just a few months after bringing us Avatar: The Last Airbender, the streaming site has announced their plans to add The Legend of Korra.

German actor Dieter Laser, who played evil scientist Dr. Josef Heiter in “The Human Centipede,” died on Feb. 29 in Germany. He was 78.

Laser’s death has only now come to light via an announcement posted to his Facebook page on Thursday. “We are very sorry to have to inform you that Dieter Laser passed away on February 29, 2020,” the post said. The cause of death was not disclosed.

Laser was born on Feb. 17, 1942, in Kiel, Germany, according to his IMDb page. He is best known for his bone-chilling portrayal of Heiter in “The Human Centipede,” as well as Mantrid in science-fiction TV series “Lexx” and Professor Otto Blaettchen in the 1996 WWII drama “The Ogre.” In 1975, Laser was awarded best actor at the German Film Awards for his first feature film, “John Glückstadt,” in which he played the titular role.
