Stranger Things took pop culture by storm, reshaped the streaming landscape, and left audiences craving more bizarre mysteries wrapped in nostalgia and drama. Yet, long before Eleven and her friends uncovered corporate conspiracies, struggled with strange powers, and faced the perils of growing up, Nickelodeon had already explored similar themes with The Secret World of Alex Mack. Quick Links What is Nickelodeon's Space Cases? How Space Cases Was Ahead of its Time Why Nickelodeon's Space Cases Deserves Better
Long before Star Wars: Skeleton Crew launched on Disney+, Nickelodeon brought audiences a now-forgotten sci-fi series in the '90s. Today, it is easy to take for granted sci-fi shows with high production values and popular intellectual properties attached as streaming platforms compete to attract subscribers with stories set in established universes. Yet, as viewers flock to shows like Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Dune: Prophecy, and The Penguin, it is a reminder of how many incredible series are left behind, overshadowed by bigger names or fading from memory entirely. Nickelodeon's Space Cases had everything these new series offer, except the advantage of a recognizable legacy. Nearly 30 years later, Space Cases still feels like a "long strange trip" worth revisiting, a hidden gem in need of love before it disappears into the void forever.

Prolific writer Peter David is currently in rehab following a series of strokes and a mild heart attack, complicated by existing kidney problems.
His wife, Kathleen O’Shea David, updated the legendary creator’s GoFundMe, saying:
“Peter is still in rehab but that is week to week until the insurance decides that he is well enough to come home. The big hurdle is that he is a two-person assist right now. I have the door widening in the works so he can come home along with a couple of other things that will make his life easier...”
A prolific comics writer with defining runs on Incredible Hulk, X-Factor, and Amazing Spider-Man, David also wrote the Babylon 5 episodes ‘Soul Mates’ and ‘There All the Honor Lies’, and the Crusade episode ‘Ruling from the Tomb’.

It’s happened: the Power Rangers are heading back to the movies. And with luck, this time around Ivan Ooze won’t be anywhere within a twelve-mile radius of the theater.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers remains one of the last glorious bastions of my childhood. Somewhere deep in my bedroom back home, there’s probably at least one expensive action figure (I got the kind that morph, because I was spoiled) hiding away. Although the brand has survived dozens of tinkerings and reboots over the years (Jungle Fury? Really?), the original three-season series is unsullied — in my mind, at least.

Attention, children of the '90s: The Internet has provided us with yet another way to relive our childhoods, and this one's even cooler than nostalgia programming blocks on Nick at Nite: Nick Reboot, a new website that's livestreaming vintage Nickelodeon shows -- commercials included! -- for your viewing pleasure.
The shows logged on the site originally aired between the early '90s and the early '00s, so there's a wide range of programming to be had. There's "Roundhouse," "You Can't Do That on Television," and "Finders Keepers" on one end, and "The Fairly Odd Parents," "As Told By Ginger," and "The Wild Thornberrys" on the other.
It's a particularly great resource for shows like "The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo," "Space Cases," "What Would You Do?" or "The Secret Word of Alex Mack," beloved shows that haven't aired anywhere recently and are hard to find on DVD. There's...

I wondered if I was perhaps writing about too obscure of a show when I covered The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo for EW’s ongoing nostalgia series on Saturday. Would anyone actually remember it? Thankfully, a few people did.
But things are about to get a whole lot more obscure. Today, I’m talking about Space Cases.
What, you don’t remember Space Cases? You know, that sci-fi show about a group of teenage space dwellers traveling through the universe that ran on Nickelodeon for two seasons. You’ve gotta remember it! No? It was that show which featured a girl with rainbow hair,...

I am in my late twenties. And as someone in my late twenties, I was raised by the loving hands of cable television, Nickelodeon in particular. For those of you who are unaware, '90s Nickelodeon was the fucking tits.
Do you even know how truly fascinating the world of '90s Nickelodeon truly is? Yeah, we all know that Michelle Trachtenberg, Ben Stiller's wife and the Rilo Kiley guy got their starts there (though I choose to remember him properly -- hanging out with Adam Scott and Ethan Suplee at John Adams High). But do you even know how many awesome people guested on "The Adventures of Pete and Pete"? Did you know that the crippled doctor from "ER" wrote episodes of "Hey Dude"? Because she did, you guys. She did.
