Streaming platforms have definitely been on the rise in recent years, with several shows and movies making their way out in the open. Giants like Apple TV+ and Netflix are the front runners in this, with their unique take on storytelling and original content. But despite all of this, the former is reportedly losing around $1 billion a year in its entertainment division.
However, despite this setback, one show could play a major role in turning things around—Adam Scott’s Severance.

Throughout the years, this physiological thriller has gained a lot of momentum with its rather unique storytelling. This is the main reason why it has positioned itself as one of Apple’s most sought-after original shows in recent years.

In Hollywood, movie franchises have long been a favorite of viewers. From Mission: Impossible to the iconic Harry Potter, such movie series have gathered a lot of attention throughout the years. But among this, the James Bond franchise can easily give others a run for their money.
Being the iconic 007 is still a dream for many, and with Daniel Craig’s departure after No Time to Die, fans are eagerly anticipating who will take on the role.

Apart from this, David Heyman, who’s also one of the most successful producers out there—second only to Disney’s Kevin Feige—is reportedly interested in taking over the franchise. This could also be a perfect chance to bring fresh energy to the movie series, and in this, Henry Cavill’s name stands out as the ideal choice.

Skydance, Apple and Netflix are said to be in contention to buy the Jason Bourne franchise as its rights go up for sale.
With the ability to slip into a crowd and become a threat from the shadows, Jason Bourne has never seemed like the settling down type. That seems to be a truism that extends beyond the character and into the franchise itself. According to The Hollywood Reporter, author Robert Ludlum’s estate has put up the entire library of titles on the market, including the rights to the Bourne novels.
Since a couple of years before 2002’s The Bourne Identity, the rights to Ludlum’s espionage specialist have resided at Universal, although attempts to make a Bourne film track all the way back through the 1980s when Warner Bros was interested in setting up a version that would have starred Burt Reynolds.

Hollywood has a knack for never letting a good spy retire in peace. Just ask James Bond, Ethan Hunt, or, in this case, Jason Bourne. It turns out that if you’re an amnesiac superspy with a talent for surviving impossible situations, you don’t just disappear, you go on an extended vacation until a major studio decides it’s time to dust you off.
Now, Jason Bourne is back in the headlines, not for a new adventure, but because the rights to his franchise are up for grabs. The fight is about to get as intense as one of his famous car chases through European streets.

The film business has always been a gamble, and it is not easy for every project or movie to turn out to be a success. A high-stakes game where the odds are always greater, each year, hundreds of millions of dollars, hard work, effort, and time are spent on making blockbuster films, hoping for record-breaking box office returns. However, as history stands as a testament, not every big-budget spectacle turns out to be a major hit, and more often than not, they end up underperforming.

Even though the said big-budget films might have major filmmakers, screenwriters, or A-list actors attached to them, they sometimes end up flopping disastrously. And it is a feat that fans, critics, and Hollywood witness each and every year. Well, the box office in 2025 isn’t going to be any different, for sure.

23 years ago, S.W.A.T. made its return to the screen, relaunching an action franchise that had been largely forgotten since its original run as a TV series in 1975. The original show followed a specialized police force in California, tackling organized crime, terrorism and drug trafficking. But, despite its strong debut and ratings, the series was eventually canceled due to concerns over violence on television.
In 2003, S.W.A.T. was revived as a feature film. The film, starring Colin Farrell and Samuel L. Jackson, followed the same premise as the original series, with a S.W.A.T team facing off against the city’s biggest criminals. This relaunch set the stage for a television reboot in 2017. The new series, led by Shemar Moore, introduced the franchise to a younger, more diverse audience. But it was the 2003 film that brought the franchise back to life, with a focus on authenticity that set it apart as one of...

Tom Cruise To Be Honoured With BFI Fellowship As Part Of Month-Long Celebration Of The Star’s Career
Over the last four decades, few figures in the world of film have given as much to the form as Thomas Cruise Mapother IV — or, as we know him best, Tom Cruise. Across 47 films and counting, cinema's real-life action man has run, jumped, climbed, flown, cycled, dived, danced, danced some more, fought, and even breathed his own carbon dioxide, all in service of making the big screen experience as big as it can possibly be. Now, in recognition of his years of service to cinema, both as an actor and producer, the BFI have today announced they'll be celebrating Cruise by awarding the star their highest honour — the BFI Fellowship.
The official press release from the BFI announces that "The Fellowship recognises Cruise’s achievements as an extraordinary, versatile actor whose career has spanned everything from critically acclaimed dramas and romances to dark thrillers and high-octane action films." What's more,...

While it can’t be said if the rumors surrounding Henry Cavill’s potential full-fledged MCU future have some weight or not, interestingly, one of his most impressive roles had some notable parallels with the MCU’s big bad. Although Cavill’s career in the 2010s was confined to fictional heroes, even if his Clark Kent wasn’t exactly as jovial as the past iterations, one of his best acting feats arrived on the opposite spectrum.

The Mission: Impossible franchise has finally achieved the impossible—the film series has successfully kept the audience on the edge of their seats for almost three decades. Tom Cruise has blown the audience’s minds with life-threatening stunts, as he challenges gravity almost all the time in all his Mission: Impossible films. Thought I would have gotten tired of it, but it looks like that is never happening.
The Mission: Impossible series has revolutionized the action genre, but not all the movies in the saga hold up. While Tom Cruise had already been a superstar for decades, it seems like he just became something else entirely when riding the wave of his Mission: Impossible sequels as he used his producing powers and daredevil prowess to make some of the biggest and best action movies of the last few years. Not only had he become known for doing his own stunts, but he’s been known to get his co-stars in on the action. His co-star in the latest Mission: Impossible, Hayley Atwell, stated, “When I started, I was very aware of the rarefied air around him and how there is no one like him. And there never will be because actors aren’t made like him any more. He is a one-man studio and, to me, very kind, very professional.”

Tom Cruise is set to receive the British Film Institute’s highest honor, the BFI Fellowship.
The Hollywood star — currently in the U.K. shooting Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s as-yet-untitled film for Warner Bros. and Legendary — is being recognized for both his “achievements as an extraordinary, versatile actor,” according to the BFI, and his “huge contribution to the UK film industry.”
Indeed, alongside Iñárritu’s project, Cruise has spent a large proportion of the last few decades living and working in the U.K., where he has shot numerous “Mission: Impossible” films on location around the country. He famously broke his ankle while filming “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” in London, while much of the final installment, “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning,” rumoured to be premiering at the Cannes Film Festival in May, was shot in the U.K. at both Longcross Studios and in the Lake District.

Shaken, stirred, or even streamed, spy movies make up many of the most exciting, edge-of-your-seat stories the movies have to offer. From the harrowing heights of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise to the suave savvy of six James Bonds, espionage has become the thematic ground on which some of cinema’s most epic dramas, thrillers, and comedies are built. Even films primarily centered on other subject matter make frequent use of spy drama beats, proving it’s a bedrock source for onscreen entertainment.
The espionage genre is as old as filmmaking itself with silent spy movies set against the backdrop of World War I (1914’s “The German Spy Peril” is on YouTube) testing the medium’s limitations early in the 20th century. Literary works inspired many more of the spy movies to follow. Over the years, filmmakers have repeatedly adapted the works of John le Carré, Robert Ludlum, Ian Fleming, and...

There aren't too many actual overnight success stories in Hollywood. All of the ones that seem that way are usually built on the back of an invisible struggle that eventually culminates in a life-changing opportunity. Such was the case with John Boyega, who was handed the chance of a lifetime when he landed the role of Finn, aka Fn-2187, in 2015's "Star Wars: Episode VII -- The Force Awakens." There aren't too many actual overnight success stories in Hollywood. All of the ones that seem that way are usually built on the back of an invisible struggle that eventually culminates in a life-changing opportunity. Such was the case with John Boyega, who was handed the chance of a lifetime when he landed the role of Finn, aka Fn-2187, in 2015's "Star Wars: Episode VII -- The Force Awakens." It turns out, he has Tom Cruise to thank for that. Sort of.

But despite rumors of his romance with Barbaro, Cruise might be hooking up with an even bigger star at the moment. Sources allege that he’s been spending a lot of time with none other than Ana de Armas.

Is Tom Cruise’s Edge of Tomorrow getting a manga sequel?(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Tom Cruise’s sci-fi actioner Edge of Tomorrow stands as one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time, and the credit reaches beyond mere Hollywood. Co-starring Emily Blunt and directed by Doug Liman, the movie engages with a time loop plot where Cruise’s William Cage incessantly wakes up and dies.
However, only few know the ingenious concept sprang from a manga writer in Japan and traveled a long way before landing on Cruise’s frequent collaborator and Mission: Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie’s desk. Originally known as All You Need Is Kill — once a tentative title for Cruise’s film — author Hiroshi Sakurazaka and illustrator Yoshitoshi Abe’s thought-provoking work was published as a light novel, bridging the gap between literary media and manga.

Spy stories have become dominant within popular culture, and not just because of the success of major franchises like Mission: Impossible, Jason Bourne, The Kingsman, and James Bond; there are many prestige television shows that examine espionage, including The Old Man, The Agency, Black Doves, A Man on the Inside, and Special Ops: Lioness. Given that many of these have managed to push the genre forward by exploring current political and social issues, the prospect of Steven Soderberghmaking an old-fashioned spy thriller about identifying a mole within a powerful institution may have seemed rather antiquated. Thankfully, Black Bag uses its espionage elements as a means of exploiting the complexity of adult relationships, and puts much more emphasis on dialogue and performances than it does on action and adventure.

The debut of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s live-action Dcu is creeping ever closer, and that means that rumors of what fans can expect are ramping up with it. One big rumor – and it is just a rumor, so let’s not all wet our pants on the outside yet – is that there is one cameo appearance by a big A-lister in Superman that has not yet been unveiled.
Let’s kick this off by saying the original rumor comes from Hollywood insider, Jeff Sneider, so everyone get your salt buckets ready. With that in mind, the suggestion is that Gunn has enlisted a big star to make a small appearance in the summer blockbuster as Superman’s father, Jor-El. While Sneider tosses around names like the child-catcher handing out sweets to unsuspecting children, with the likes of Tom Cruise and Chris Pratt being name-checked, the likelihood of either...

Steven Soderbergh almost didn’t make “Black Bag.”
When he and “Jurassic Park” writer David Koepp first began collaborating, Koepp brought Soderbergh a handful of ideas. One of those was “Black Bag.” Soderbergh didn’t spark to the concept, instead choosing to focus on “Presence,” a ghost story that premiered at Sundance in 2024 and was released by Neon earlier this year.
Soderbergh said that he still encouraged Koepp to write it. “It was more of a case of, Dude, just write it. My immediate interest was more in seeing him get it done than it being something that I could then direct,” Soderbergh told TheWrap during a wide-ranging interview that touched on everything from the making of “Black Bag” to the difficulty of getting adult dramas in theaters to why he’s not directing the next “Ocean’s” movie.

Buddy cop movies are a staple of the action-comedy genre, pairing mismatched partners who must overcome their differences to chase down criminals. Director Richard Donner's Lethal Weapon series is well-known for popularizing the buddy-cop genre, as Mel Gibson's reckless cop and Danny Glover's by-the-book officer made for plenty of mishaps and over-the-top action sequences. The 1980s/90s franchise went on to inspire a new wave of buddy cop films, including Rush Hour, Bad Boys, and Shanghai Noon.
More recently, the genre has evolved with hits like 21 Jump Street, The Other Guys, The Heat, and The Nice Guys. Among the modern entries in the genre, Ride Along carved out its own space thanks to the comedic energy of Kevin Hart, which paired hilariously with Ice Cube's stoic intensity. With a $154 million global box office haul, Ride Along became a surprise hit, setting the stage for its 2016 sequel.

Tom Cruise's bloody scene in Interview with the Vampire earns a glowing review from VFX artists. Released in 1994, director Neil Jordan's gothic horror adaptation of Anne Rice's 1976 novel follows vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac (Brad Pitt) as he recounts his life to journalist Daniel Molloy (Christian Slater). Cruise stars as Lestat de Lioncount in Interview with the Vampire, the vampire who is responsible for turning Louis into a vampire himself in 1791. One particularly notable sequence in the movie features Lestat morphing into a more monstrous form after getting his throat slit.

In 2023, he played a perfectionist assassin in David Fincher’s “The Killer” (Netflix); an alcoholic soccer coach in Taika Waititi’s sports comedy “Next Goal Wins” (Searchlight); and took on his first TV series since his early years, as a London CIA agent in love with Jodie Turner-Smith’s Sudanese professor in “The Agency” (Paramount+/Showtime).

For decades, Tom Cruise has been the ultimate Hollywood daredevil—jumping off cliffs in Mission: Impossible and pulling off jaw-dropping stunts at the box office. Well, this seems to be the reason why studios have been vying for his attention like fans at red-carpet events. Take for example when Warner Bros. went out of their way to thank Cruise, even when he vowed his loyalty to Paramount.

Meanwhile, Paramount, his longtime Hollywood home, wasn’t in the loop of that meeting where Tom Cruise turned Warner Bros. into his new (non-exclusive) playground. Rhames has worked with Tom Cruise for all that time, and is still keeping busy in Hollywood, both on the big and small screen. His latest boxing film, Uppercut, is now available, and Mission: Impossible fans simply can't wait for The Final Reckoning to hit theaters in May. MovieWeb recently caught up with Rhames while he was promoting Uppercut, and the celebrated actor took time to offer a glimpse of what to expect with the eighth film in the great action franchise.

Apple TV+ subscribers can also catch Rhames in the gritty new series Dope Thief, which premieres this week. Rhames...

The Accountant 2 just premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV festival, with Director Gavin O'Connor and stars Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, and Daniela Pineda all in attendance. It's taken a long time for the sequel to get made, with the first film being released almost ten years ago in 2016. Now that audiences have finally seen the movie, it's a clear tonal departure with plenty of comedic moments, especially for Affleck, who would jokingly compare his efforts in the film to that of Tom Cruise's stunt work.
Following the premiere of The Accountant 2 at the Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas, some of the cast and crew took to the stage to talk about the movie. One subplot of the sequel involves Christian Wolff's (Affleck) struggle with dating and women. However, one hilarious scene at a country-themed bar has Chris learning how to line-dance to impress a woman interested in him.
