Market sets scene for Berlin and Cannes but few deals sealed.
Sellers reported a slow start to the year at UniFrance’s annual Rendez-vous with French Cinema in Paris over the weekend (Dec 14-18) in terms of sealed deals but said the event had set the stage for sales at Berlin and even Cannes.
“Buyers are getting pickier. They want titles they’re 100% sure will work in their territories. You get the sense things are tougher for them and that they’re not prepared to take risks. They’re looking for the next La Famille Bélier or Serial (Bad) Weddings,” commented Olivier Albou of Other Angle Pictures, referring to two of France’s top comedy exports of the last 18 months.
Albou said there was strong interest for Other Angle titles The Roommates Party (Le Grand Partage), Full Speed (A Fond), by Babysitting director Nicolas Benamou, and A Mighty Team (La Dream Team), which opened the event on Thursday...

I didn't make much of it at first. After all, Gretchen (Aya Cash), the intemperate PR rep of Fxx's biting sophomore comedy, "You're the Worst," vowed never to relinquish her independence when she moved in with her narcissistic boyfriend, Jimmy (Chris Geere), at the end of the first season. In this context, her decision to sneak out of the house in the middle of the night at the conclusion of "All About That Paper" was not terribly noteworthy—another attempt, like the season premiere's drunken, drug-addled bender, to avoid becoming, as Jimmy puts it, one of those "disgusting normals." And then it happened again. (Spoilers ahead if you're not caught up.) Read More: "FX Comedies 'Married' and 'Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll' Run Full Speed into the Generation Gap" As Gretchen sneaks out in the middle of the night a second time, and then a third—arousing Jimmy's suspicion that she's cheating on him,...

100 years after setting off on her doomed voyage, the Titanic is back in the headlines and back on the big screen! In honor of the ill-fated ocean liner’s centennial anniversary, director James Cameron has sent his record breaking blockbuster Titanic into another round of theatrical release. But this time the larger than life spectacle gets the 3-D treatment, so you’ll be able to see that steamy car love-scene like never before!
It’s hard to believe it’s been 15 years since the film first took the world (and the Oscars) by storm. It made an even-bigger star out of Leonardo DiCaprio, brought Kate Winslet to worldwide prominence, and probably bought James Cameron a couple dozen yachts or something. But despite the boatload of success stories, many faces from Titanic have been lost in the great sea of Hollywood bit parts. Billy Zane, where art thou!? Never fear, movie...

However, this initially cathartic relationship soon begins to border on the obsessive, and Camille’s family begin to question her state of mind as she devotes more and more time to Franck.
