Meetings of fascists, young skinheads, Elvis, experiences with such legendary directors as David Lynch, Quentin Tarantino and Werner Herzog, and the media circus around Oscar nominees — those were just some of the topics addressed by British actor Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Rob Roy, Lie to Me) during a master class at the 15th edition of the Luxembourg City Film Festival on Wednesday.
The crowded session followed Tuesday night’s Luxembourg premiere of independent movie Poison, directed by Désirée Nosbusch (Bad Banks), in which Roth stars opposite Danish actress Trine Dyrholm as a couple that meets again years after tragedy drove them apart. Roth also received a festival honor Tuesday evening.
In his wide-ranging master class, he also discussed working with the likes of Charlton Heston, and, to the surprise of some in the audience, Tupac Shakur.
And he shared insight into how he portrayed a 16-year-old racist skinhead...

Tupac Shakur’s sister has called the charge of a gang leader with his murder “a pivotal moment.”
Sekyiwa Shakur posted on her social media her feelings following the indictment on Friday of Duane “Keffe” Davis on one count of murder.
Sekyiwa wrote that “”today is a victory” but “reserved judgement” until legal proceedings had been completed.
She said: “It’s important to me that the world, the country, the justice system, and our people acknowledge the gravity of the passing of this man, my brother, my mother’s son, my father’s son.
“There have been multiple hands involved and there remains so much surrounding the life and death of my brother Tupac and our Shakur family overall. We are seeking real justice, on all fronts.”
Her words follow those of Tupac’s step-brother Mopreme Shakur, who told CNN:

Sting, Tupac Shakur, Flea, and Mos Def are just a few examples of musicians who have proven themselves to be talented actors as well. Beyoncé, Eminem, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, David Bowie, and Barbra Streisand are other musicians who have successfully transitioned to the world of acting. These musicians have been able to transcend their musical reputations and reinvent themselves through a variety of characters onscreen, proving that they are more than just musicians.
A handful of famous musicians have actually turned out to be surprisingly good actors. While many musical artists have dabbled in acting roles throughout their careers, very few have emerged and proven themselves as legitimate talents in music and acting. Many examples of musicians and recording artists appear in film and television in cameos that largely represent themselves and their famous personas. Tupac Shakur is finally getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on June 7, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said.

Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur, Tupac’s sister, will accept the honor on behalf of Tupac, who was shot and killed in 1996.
Noted Los Angeles radio host Big Boy will emcee the ceremony. Allen Hughes, who directed a number of Tupac videos and the Hulu docuseries “Dear Mama” about Tupac and his mother Afeni Shakur will speak, as will Jamal Joseph, the author of “Tupac Shakur, Tupac Shakur Legacy.”
Tupac Shakur star ceremony set for June 7, at 10:30 am.

Tupac Shakur's socially conscious poetry and fiery, political lyrics are forever cemented in music history, but the legendary rapper also had a burgeoning career in acting. Upon the time of his tragic murder in September 1996, Tupac was becoming all the more prolific as a performer, his filmography growing even after his death. What's more, there was a chance that, eventually, audiences would have seen the rapper/actor pop up in big-budget movies like the "Star Wars" prequels, in which George Lucas may have cast him as Mace Windu.
Tupac was always involved in the world of the stage ever since his childhood days at the Baltimore School for the Arts, where he acted in Shakespeare productions that would influence his depictions of gang conflicts. The artist's breakout lead role was in the 1992 crime drama "Juice," in which future Mace Windu actor Samuel L. Jackson also appeared in. Besides this,...

Skinheads, hit men, cops, criminals, cops-posing-as-criminals, princes, junkies, executioners, politicians, supervillains, an 18th-century fop, a 19th-century impressionist painter and a 21st-century psychotic chimp – you name it, and there's an extremely good chance that Tim Roth has played it. The 56-year-old British actor has the sort of varied, overstuffed resumé that suggests a reserved spot in the steadily-working-character-actor canon, and has not one but two projects hitting TV screens at the moment: Tin Star, an Amazon thriller that about an expat cop living in Canada that starts as a quirky fish-out-of-water...

Tupac took Tim Roth to Death Row Records to lay down a few tracks while the pair were filming their 1997 movie, Gridlock'd, the actor recalled on The Late Late Show With James Corden Monday.
Despite the ridiculousness of the story, Roth hasn't shared it publicly until recently. As the actor told host James Corden, Tupac took him and their co-star Thandie Newton to see his usual workplace, "which was hilarious because a little pasty-faced London boy walking into Death Row Records was … well, people were just laughing at me."

If you're looking for a movie with hyper-violence, well-choreographed ass kickings, and a lot of bloodshed, Gridlocked is your Huckleberry. Not to be confused with the great 1997 crime film Gridlock'd starring Tim Roth and the late Tupac Shakur, Gridlocked is a hepped up Assault on Precinct 13 with bullets calling all the shots. In Gridlocked, Dominic Purcell (Prison Break) plays the hard-as-nails Swat leader David Hendrix. He's the guy you send into an apartment packed with guns and goons ready to fire them. He's the guy who walks out of that situation with a lot of blood on his hands, and none of it is his own. (Move over Liam Neeson, there's a new bad motherfucker in town with a particular set of skills.)Today is...

Rahimi – who helmed the music videos for "I Ain't Mad at Cha" and "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted," among others – wants to raise $300,000 to prevent his movie, 7 Dayz, "from becoming another watered down Hollywood film," according to the project's IndieGogo page. The feature film will also incorporate rare, actual footage of the rapper.

Sometime before his death, Tupac Shakur reportedly auditioned to play Jedi Master Mace Windu in the 1999 movie Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Rick Clifford, who worked as an engineer at Death Row Records, said in a recent interview for the website 2Pac-Forum that Shakur told him he had gone for a reading with George Lucas but that the part went to Samuel L. Jackson. (Incidentally, Jackson appeared in the 1992 movie Juice alongside the rapper.)

He was once attached to Notorious, the film about the life of Biggie Smalls, but the rap biopic Antoine Fuqua finally brings to the screen will be on Tupac Shakur: from the other side of the East Coast/West Coast rivalry.Tupac, as if you need telling, was a hip-hop superstar, with albums like Me Against the World, All Eyez on Me and The Don Killuminati all achieving multi-platinum status. He was also building an extremely credible acting career with the likes of Juice, Above the Rim and Gridlock'd before his untimely death in a drive-by shooting in 1996.The case remains unsolved, although various conspiracy theories and accusations regarding Suge Knight, Biggie, Death Row and Bad Boy Records (not to mention the police) continue to fly around. Nick Broomfield's 2002 documentary Biggie & Tupac conducts its own (very revealing) investigation, and 2007's Tupac: Assassination claimed some new information and insights.
