    strange & magical movie

This movie is anything but ordinary. It really had a deep impact on my life.

i understand that not everyone can understand it. i read some bad comment and i know some people can get it that way. but It was truly magical for me! maybe it's not realistic but it wasn't supposed to be! i was 13 or something when i first saw it and i like to believe it toughed me few things on life. i watched it around 20 times over last 7 years or so.and i still think it's amazing!

i know that there are people who didn't like this movie.but don't rely on anyones comments before you've seen it yourself! excellent cast!i highly recommend it!

Girls growing to become women... guys learning what love is

Love is about hurting... love is about overcoming yourself to find your sulfate, which might not be uniquely defined, but once you find him no one else matters. I think the allusion to voodoo and magic is very poetic. Because this is how love works. In a mysterious way, above all conventions and compromises we are taught growing to commit to. Love doesn't abide by fidelity, loyalty, commitment, beautiful words, or romantic gestures. But it does require you to be there for the one you love or the pain you will feel will be so excruciating that will squeeze yourself to complete oblivion. Love doesn't kill but it does make you stronger. You have to look for it genuinely you have to let it mold your character solidify your foundations. Even if you lose it or it doesn't converge to being together with someone at least you will cherish the knowledge of what it means to love.

    My personal anthem

This movie is my personal anthem as what has happened in my life up to this point. I can't help but to feel the same as Rene in this movie. It all clicks, no other movie has done this for me. Personally, I would recommend everyone to see this movie. However, I know this movie would not interest everybody. However, I would recommend this to the younger movie crowd as a must see at least once.

    Do not watch this movie

The only interesting part of this movie was it's jazz and reggae New Orleans back drop. It tries to be one of those movies that has two struggles the heroine has to overcome, one from the past and one from the present which she fails to do convincingly. The acting's bad and the direction is even worse. I'm not surprised at all that this went straight to video. The end result of this film leaves no one satisfied or convinced including the actors themselves.

    Appealing performers but awful material

This movie has a few good performances going for it -- and that's all it has going for it. The leads, especially Pauley Perrette, are appealing. (Although some of the bit players seem to be acting from a teleprompter.) The material -- that is the problem. I feel as though the screenwriter/director watched the entire run of Felicity in one sitting, then sat down to write a script without catching any sleep. It really did remind me of Felicity -- a thoughtful young woman finding herself, finding love, with a shake-them-up-and- see-what-happens approach to the characters and their relationships. Except that while I usually enjoyed watching Felicity, this movie left me cold. The writing is just awful. It's amazing that the cast could come off as well as they did, as the dialogue is dull at best. At its worst it becomes trite, stilted and amateurish. There is nothing original here, with plot elements recycled from gimmicks that weren't so brilliant to begin with. (Angels and fortune tellers? Come on.) For the first half of the movie, I rooted for the actors and hoped to be rewarded for my patience. By the second half, I just wished for it to end already. My sympathies to the cast, who deserved a better vehicle for their talents.
