At this point, it’s our own fault for being so surprised every time NCIS: Origins delivers another incredible episode. The series is not wasting a bit of potential from its stable of fantastic characters.
For one, what seemed like a series of coincidental episodes has become a full-blown strategy of character-centric stories. My God, does it work.
NCIS: Origins Season 1 Episode 16, “Bugs,” was a perfect mixture of lighthearted humor, thrilling mystery, and gripping emotional drama.

All that was missing were a few jump scares and a romantic moment to have run the entire gamut of broadcast TV genres.
Not for nothing, but was anyone else surprised by the amount of casual comedy on this episode?
Why was everyone eating so much? You know those actors have to take a bite every time they re-do the scene, right?

What’s…up, Doc? Christopher Walken has starred opposite everybody from Robert De Niro to Sean Connery to Christopher Lee, but there’s one actor he admires above all: Bugs Bunny. And for those who might not consider Bugs Bunny an actor, he has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Walken doesn’t, so how do you explain that?
Walken recently appeared on Ben Stiller’s The Severance Podcast to chat the show and his inspirations. But it was actually off-mic that he told Stiller about his love of the Looney Tunes mascot. “[Walken] said that Bugs Bunny is one of his favorite actors ever. And he was saying this kind of with a twinkle in his eye, but not really. And he said, ‘A lot of times I’ve played roles as if I was Bugs Bunny, but nobody knew.’ Now, which character, which movie, we don’t know.

There’s a new Looney Tunes movie in theaters right now, yet Bugs Bunny — by far the biggest star of the franchise — is nowhere to be found. The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, is the story of Daffy Duck and Porky Pig thwarting an alien invasion. And apart from Petunia Pig, no other recognizable Looney Tunes characters appear in it. It’s a bold choice, but also an exciting one: the 90-minute film allows for a fully-developed story to take place between the duo — one that feels like a natural progression of their comedic partnership that began 88 years ago.
Introduced in 1935, Porky Pig quickly became Warner Bros.’ first star cartoon character. This was likely because he was their first lead that wasn’t a direct Mickey Mouse ripoff. So Porky went on to star in all kinds of shorts in the mid-1930s, including Tex Avery’s Porky’s Duck Hunt,...

Most Looney Tunes movies that made it to theaters in the past deserved to be hit with a few sticks of dynamite. But that’s not the case with The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, out now in theaters. Unlike many of its predecessors, The Day the Earth Blew Up is neither over-budgeted nor underwhelming; in fact, it manages to capture the spirit of the original Looney Tunes shorts, especially those of director Bob Clampett, pretty wonderfully.
While each of the classic Looney Tunes directors had their own unique stamp, Clampett’s cartoons were generally regarded as the silliest and most unpredictable, which is precisely what we see with The Day the Earth Blew Up. Starring Daffy Duck and Porky Pig in a Dumb and Dumber-like buddy comedy in which the duo must save the planet from an alien invasion, the film is a gag-filled romp.

The underrated 1998 Pixar movie, A Bug's Life, has received a live-action adaptation... sort of. Although not technically a live-action remake of the animated classic, National Geographic has released two original series inspired by the World of Disney and A Bug's Life titled A Real Bug's Life.
According to FlixPatrol, A Real Bug's Life is currently No. 5 on Disney+'s Top 10 in the U.S., down a spot from yesterday. Narrated by Awkwafina (Raya and the Last Dragon), the Disney+ series follows "nine different micro bug worlds around the globe, where the forces of nature play out on a miniature scale and where tiny creatures rely on amazing powers and extraordinary alliances to make it through each day," reads the official synopsis. Some of the bugs that A Real Bug's Life focuses on include "a jumping spider looking for a home on the streets of New York" and "a Costa Rican...

Dragon Ball Daima continues to surprise fans by introducing changes to the franchise's lore that build upon familiar elements. Rather than discarding Akira Toriyama's original foundation, Daima embraces it, enhancing and expanding upon what was already established. The latest twist, featuring Vegeta achieving the Super Saiyan 3 transformation that the fandom has dreamed of for decades, highlights how Daima is gradually refining and enriching the series' lore.
One of the most significant changes in Dragon Ball Daima so far is the retconning of Buu, which has proven to be immensely impactful. This change introduced new iterations of the iconic villain: Majin Kuu and Majin Duu. While Majin Kuu defied fan expectations, Majin Duu has emerged as a formidable antagonist in the latest arc. However, the subtle hints scattered across the last 12 episodes, coupled with Majin Kuu's high Iq and Majin Duu's formidable strength, suggest that an even greater villain is...

In its 300-plus episode count, Supernatural has rarely ever delivered an episode that fans have universally panned. However, there have been rare occasions when the IMDb rating of some episodes has dipped below 7, and sometimes even 6.

Over the years, the United Kingdom has produced some of the best, most iconic, and most memorable sci-fi TV shows ever made. The country shows no signs of letting up on its creative output in this regard, either, with Netflix's superhero show Supacell proving to be very popular. There's a specific charm associated with British-made sci-fi shows; they are invariably camp, quirky, and funny, while often challenging viewers to ponder some of life's bigger questions.
Another great aspect of these properties is frequently pushing the boundaries of previously accepted notions of the genre. Whether they're larger-scale productions, or lower-budget series, they all have one thing in common: leaving a lasting mark on audiences around the world. There's a distinct difference in budget between American-made productions and some of the best sci-fi shows from the UK. Plot: Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, and Petunia Pig are Earth’s only hope when facing the threat of alien invasion.
Review: During a time when moral compasses are pointing anywhere but up, and on a day when you find your credit card is beyond its limit, it sure is nice to feel like a kid again. Few things could bring me back to when Sesame Street’s “12 and Pinball” animation was the hottest jam of the Summer, like Looney Tunes. Every morning, and sometimes on Saturdays, Bugs, Daffy, Porky Pig, and their eclectic cast of friends molded my sense of humor, gave me a fondness for classical music, and invited sunshine into even the rainiest days.

Easily one of the best shows from Eric Kripke, Supernatural hardly has any elements worth hating or those hard to love. Over the course of 15 seasons, it has managed to deliver epically beyond viewers’ wildest imagination, coupling the emotional factor perfectly with the horror and thriller. Even then, some discrepancies still seem to have seeped up in the saga.

As much as these disputing factors made the very rare minority of the episodes unpleasant and cringe-worthy to even witness, it’s also something that showrunner Kripke has learned to openly criticize. This stands especially true for some of the opening seasons of the meritorious lore, which were so horrendously bad that even Kripke frankly hated it.

In the history of television, there has not been and will probably never be a show like Supernatural. One of the longest-running American TV shows of all time, the incredible pairing of Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki has been a staple part of some couple thousand fans for 15 years and more. Dragon Ball Daima Episode 4, "Chatty," followed more of the leading trio: Goku, Glorio, and Supreme Kai Shin exploring the Third Demon Realm after Glorio's plane was stolen by a group of rough demons, getting revenge. Along the way, they encounter a small shop filled with new food for Goku to obsess over, a potential way to fly using a magical plant, the Sky Seed, and, more interestingly, the magical Medi Bugs. Small candy-like orbs that, once eaten, offer different magical effects.
Goku purchases a few of these and stores them in a small pack before the episode continues. Goku's interest in them comes from both a practical place but also a place of curiosity to see how the items can be used in the future. These Medi Bugs begin to create an interesting scenario for Dragon Ball Daima as it takes the once action-focused shnen series and turns its narrative...

Dragon Ball Daima has been a return to the series' roots, reestablishing the wonder that defined early Dragon Ball. And the newly introduced Demon Realm has that once lost element in spades, packed to the brim with many of Akira Toriyama's trademark vehicles, landscapes, and magic. Having already given further context to previously established lore, the newest episode #4 has introduced a successor to the series' Senzu Beans.
In an episode filled with exciting action and the first glimpse at the way its new main villain Gomah rules the realm, the fact that a detail as small as this holds major implications is a testament to Dragon Ball's worldbuilding. As the trio of Goku, Supreme Kai, and Glorio continue on their adventure, searching for a replacement plane, they come across what's described as a souvenir. It turns out these souvenirs can hold healing powers, and they're absolutely disgusting.

Jinkies indeed! After two divisive seasons, Max won’t be renewing Mindy Kaling’s adult animated series Velma for another season. The show, starring Kaling as the voice of Velma Dinkley, lasted for two seasons before Max ripped off its mask, revealing a cancelation notice where a mustache-twirling villain’s head should be. The cancelation of Velma hits hard for fans of the series who genuinely enjoy Kaling’s unique spin on the Scooby gang and their darkly-themed misadventures.
“Over the past two seasons, Mindy [Kaling] and Charlie [Grandy] have created an incredibly fun and fresh world within the iconic whodunit franchise,” Max said in a statement. “While we won’t be moving forward with another season of the series, we thank them for their compelling coming-of-age storytelling, unrivaled clues, and hilarious hijinks.”

If not for "Breaking Bad," then Albuquerque, New Mexico would still be most famous in popular culture as the site of Bugs Bunny's wrong turns. If you've been sleeping comfortably under a rock, "Breaking Bad" centers on Albuquerque science teacher Walter White (Bryan Cranston), who puts his chemistry skills to use cooking meth after he's diagnosed with cancer. With the show set in the U.S. southwest, the story made semi-frequent dips into Mexico itself and many of the series' criminal subplots and characters had ties to fictional drug cartels.
With a 500,000+ population, Albuquerque is the largest city in New Mexico. This is definitely a big fish in a small pond situation; the state has a wide-spreading land area but a sparse population of about 2 million. (It ranks 37th out of 50 in population for all U.S. states.) Why set a television series there compared to more famous regional neighbors like Dallas,...

Warning: Spoilers for Multiversus: Collision Detected #2!Like many long-time Looney Tunes fans, I was honestly shocked to see Bugs Bunny dropping a not-so-family-friendly joke in the preview for the latest issue of Multiversus: Collision Detected, by making a Basic Instinct reference, of all things, but to be honest, I wholeheartedly endorse it. Looney Tunes has always had a bit of an edge to it, and this is just the latest example.
Preview pages for Multiversus: Collision Detected #2 written by Bryan Q. Miller, with art by Jon Sommariva contain a reference that will shock some readers with how not-pg it is, while others might just be surprised that Bugs is doing a callback to a movie that came out in 1992.
For me, it raised the question of how much Loony Tunes has ever been PG; as I see it, half the appeal of Looney Tunes is subtle adult humor like this.

Imagine Bugs Bunny dribbling down the basketball court, with Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam scrambling to keep up. Or Taz and Road Runner in a heated soccer match, zipping across the pitch in a colorfully chaotic blur. Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports brings these classic characters to life in a sports gameplay compilation featuring basketball, soccer, tennis, and golf.
Players can choose from favorites like Bugs, Daffy Duck, and Porky Pig to compete in solo play or local multiplayer matches. Each sport captures the charming antics and slapstick hijinks unique to the Looney Tunes world. Whether triggering Acme-powered special moves in tennis or navigating dynamite-laden golf courses, players experience the zany humor and colorful craziness of their animated predecessors.
While the selection of activities may seem modest, the golf gameplay in particular emerged as a surprising highlight, with its balanced controls and creative course design managing to equal or even surpass prestigious competitors.

It'd be tough to find two animated characters more iconic and with greater legacies than Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny, and even though they're owned by different studios, both anthropomorphized animals have appeared in the same project - but only once. As well as both having equally recognizable designs, Mickey and Bugs both have iconic cartoon character voices. While some of Bugs Bunny's funniest cartoons through the decades have revolved solely around him, he was lucky enough to team up with another legendary character in 1988 for an inter-studio event for the ages.
Mickey Mouse is Walt Disney's most recognizable character and is somewhat of a mascot for the entire brand. Similarly, Bugs Bunny fills a similar role when it comes to Warner Bros. animations. The rivalry between the two studios would suggest a crossover would be impossible. However, both parties came to an incredibly rare agreement in 1988, which led to...

Second only to Mel Blanc himself, voice actor Jeff Bergman has voiced the most Looney Tunes characters over the longest stretch of time. He “officially” got the gig — the reason for those quotes will become clear below — in 1989 when Bugs, Daffy and the rest became teachers on Tiny Toon Adventures. He’s continued on through dozens of other projects like 1990’s Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue, 2011’s The Looney Tunes Show, 2015’s New Looney Tunes and last year’s Tiny Toons Looniversity reboot.
While he’s not the only person who’s voiced these characters since Blanc’s passing, he’s been among the most consistent. Which, of course, has steeped him in all sorts of Looney Tunes lore, as well as allowed him to make some of his own. Lore such as…

Some bugs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons only spawn once a player has caught a certain number of bugs. Catching every bug is necessary to complete the museum, as bugs rotate monthly with varying availability. The official guide provides detailed information on game mechanics, adding to the player's experience and understanding.
It's been more than four years since Animal Crossing: New Horizons launched for the Nintendo Switch. Though Nintendo has already launched its last free major update for the game before the next installment comes out, players are still finding out new features and secrets that have been part of the game the whole time, particularly when it comes to fishing and bug collecting.
Catching all bugs and fish in Acnh takes some work, which is perhaps why some of the finer details regarding catching all types can get overlooked. However, some players may be wondering why certain bugs aren't spawning,...

Steamboat Willie, the first Mickey cartoon, has fallen out of copyright. Enter Screamboat: a slasher flick set on a New York ferry. Will gory versions of Bugs Bunny, Popeye and Betty Boop be next?
This year, the legendary Disney short film Steamboat Willie, the first film to feature Mickey Mouse, entered the public domain. In theory, that means this version of Mickey Mouse now belongs to the people, who are free to share, reuse, sample, repurpose or perform works featuring him however they see fit, without fear of reprisal from Disney. Theoretically this could spark an entire organic folk revival of a character who played a part in all our childhoods.
In reality, though, things are a little different. Because in reality someone is going to make a cheap horror film about him. Variety has announced the existence of Screamboat, a film about some New Yorkers who go on...

Come, sit, and hear sad stories of what it was like to be a young British millennial nerd. The nineties were, in many ways, a dark age for British science fiction. Doctor Who was gone, apart from one Children in Need crossover with EastEnders – Dimensions in Time in 1993 – and an American co-produced movie simply called “Doctor Who” (which we would all pretend to hate while treasuring our VHS recording and commemorative Radio Times issue).
Over the pond, TV sci-fi was in the middle of a golden age, with three Star Trek series, Babylon 5, Farscape, The X-Files and Stargate Sg-1 only marking the tip of a science fictional iceberg. But British fans could only watch these episodes months or even years after the fact, particularly if they had only access to terrestrial television, and were forced to paw through magazines and websites for reviews and plot summaries to sate their hunger.

Coyote vs. Acme could have been a great Looney Tunes movie, but its cancellation is a huge blow to the franchise. Despite a positive reception from animatiors, Warner Bros. may never release Coyote vs. Acme due to monetary reasons and high demands. The film's potential success and emotional core could have brought the iconic Looney Tunes characters back into the spotlight.
On paper, Coyote vs. Acme seemed to be a home run for Warner Bros. Discovery, but the film's likely cancelation is a huge blow to the Looney Tunes franchise. Although the Looney Tunes roster of characters remains iconic across pop culture, the characters haven't had a terrific showcase in recent years. Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and the rest of those characters remain as timeless as ever, but their feature-length exploits in the 21st century have been lacking..

Starship Troopers has continued to remain a cult-classic sci-fi movie that features a group of teens who undergo rigorous training to prepare themselves to fight off gigantic bugs that are invading Earth. While the movie on its own is an underrated sci-fi project in the cinematic world, many would be surprised to know why an insect was particularly chosen to be a villain.

But, before diving into how Bugs initially got finalized as the movie’s antagonist, one must know that the movie’s development began as a separate project called, Bug Hunt at Outpost 7, written by Ed Neumeier. That was when the Bugs’ history originated!

As we have mentioned many times before, and particularly after the restrictions placed in the movie industry internationally due to Covid, short filmmaking has been experiencing a surge in all aspects, with the quantity increasing as much as the quality, to the point that, now, these films can actually be better than their feature counterparts. In Asia in particular, the 2023 has been utterly impressive in that regard, with the short titles of intense quality coming one after the other. 25 of those we collected in this particular list, which we feel is one of the most competitive and overall impressive among the plethora we publish every year.
Without further ado, here are the best Asian Short Films of 2023, in reverse order, although the order, particularly in the first 10, could easily be completely different. Some may have may have premiered in 2022, but since they mostly circulated in 2023, we decided to include them.

Mickey Mouse and Disney are, in a word, inseparable (despite Steamboat Willie entering the public domain this year). Mickey and his iconic mouse ears are peppered throughout Disney theme parks, toys, clothing, and more. He is the world's most famous personality, with market researchers pegging his recognition rate at 97% in the U.S. alone, which is even higher than old Saint Nick. As far as corporate mascots go, it's virtually impossible to do any better. Mickey and his better half, Minnie Mouse, are always present at Disney events, acting as ambassadors who bring out the child in everyone, even prominent world leaders. This makes it all the more puzzling that Mickey, despite his worldwide popularity, has never been in a feature-length film. Yes, he appeared in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" segment of 1940's Fantasia, and had a cameo alongside Bugs Bunny in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but nothing where he is front and center.

Supernatural considered an episode inspired by Jumanji in Season 11 but couldn't make the concept work. The show wanted to trap Dean and Sam in a Jumanji-like game but didn't have the rights to use Jumanji. The episode's failure to materialize was the first time in a decade that the showrunners abandoned a concept.
Supernatural almost paid tribute to an unlikely kid's movie favorite from the '90s, but this concept was abandoned with good reason. Supernatural started as something of a dark horror series, where brothers Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) faced off with various urban legends, like Bloody Mary or The Hook Man. Few could have predicted how long it would wind up running, however, with Supernatural's 15-season run finding the brothers eventually fighting angels and demons, God and The Devil and everything in between.

After Supernatural wrapped up its fifteen season run back in 2020, the franchise was supposed to live on through the prequel series The Winchesters… but then the show’s home network The CW was taken over by a new management team that came in with the intention of wiping the CW slate clean for the most part. The Winchesters was cancelled after one season, then couldn’t find a new home because it had to be shopped around during the writers strike, when networks and streamers were hesitant to make major pickup decisions. But maybe that’s not the end for Supernatural after all. During an appearance at the Creation Honolulu convention earlier this month, the show’s stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles implied there’s more Winchester action to come. Could we see a Supernatural season 16 someday?

Jamila Woods has shared her new album, Water Made Us, via Jagjaguwar. Stream it via Apple Music or Spotify below.
The title of Water Made Us references Toni Morrison, who once said, “All water has a perfect memory and is forever trying to get back to where it was.” The album maintains Woods’ interest in Black feminism, but, as a result of being written in the midst of quarantine, is more self-reflective than her past works.
“Water Made Us feels like the most personal and vulnerable piece of art I’ve ever made. I love creating from source material, diving deep into a subject and extrapolating from what I discover,” Woods said in a statement. “We sat in the house for two years and I became my own source material. With Water Made Us, Jamila Woods takes us on a radically honest journey through the complexities of love. The opening track, “Bugs,” is a patient slow burn about not letting the little things hinder one’s love for their partner. “It bugs me, but I do it for ya,” the Chicago-based singer-songwriter admits during the chorus. That selfless sentiment defines the album’s identity early on, with “Bugs” ending with a broader evocation of embracing the world’s imperfections: “Don’t kill this bug/Slide a little paper under this glass/Let a few bugs live.”
Songs like “Tiny Garden” and “Practice” grapple with building a strong foundation for relationships, while “Send a Dove,” “Wreckage Room,” and “Thermostat” find Woods attempting to pick up the pieces in the wake of those relationships crumbling. “Send a Dove” begins with a breezy rhythm that takes a dramatic turn toward the somber at the halfway point,...
