In anticipation of The Accountant 2 (2025) coming out later this month, I am binging through Gavin O'Connor's filmography which starts off with this movie and it was very mediocre.
Positives for Comfortably Numb (1995): It was very interesting to see where Gavin O'Connor got his start at in Hollywood and this movie was certainly unique. The movie is shot well enough for the cameras being used. The acting from the cast is pretty decent. The plot was interesting enough to keep my attention. And finally, the ending was very interesting.
Negatives for Comfortably Numb (1995): This movie feels like it could've been directed by anyone. The movie is rated NC-17, but nothing feels NC-17 to me. The plot is structured and executed in a way that is really confusing. And finally, I barely knew what was happening in the story.
Overall, Comfortably Numb (1995) is a mediocre directorial debut for Gavin O'Connor, but luckily he went on to do better things in Hollywood.
