Netflix’s “Hot Frosty” has become a bit of a sensation since it debuted on the streamer in early November, topping the Netflix charts, going viral and even getting a Ryan Reynolds parody, thanks to its bonkers Christmas charm — and the charms of its leading actress, Lacey Chabert.
Best known for playing the iconic and “so fetch” Gretchen Wieners in “Mean Girls,” Chabert’s previous credits also include “Party of Five,” “Lost in Space,” voice roles in “The Wild Thornberrys” and “Young Justice,” and earning the title “Queen of Hallmark” for the 30+ Hallmark movies she’s made over the years.
What’s more, Chabert has become a holiday staple, so if you’re looking for more Lacey Chabert Christmas movies to watch after “Hot Frosty,” there are plenty to choose from. Some might say a daunting amount if you’re a Hallmark newbie — not to worry, we’ve gone through...

For more than 55 years, the space-exploring Robinson family has been a part of pop culture, from the original Lost in Space series (1965–1968) to Netflix’s current run. But while the core family has remained the same, what sent them to space changes each time.
What has remained the same outside of the core family? A troublesome Dr. Smith (or Dr. Smith-like figure) who messes things up, a devoted robot and a future-set timeline.
As for what is different? Well, only one version of the story features space spiders.
Here’s how the two shows, as well as the 1998 film, stack up against each other.
The Original Series:

The upcoming Timothée Chalamet cannibal feature Bones and All has been picked up by MGM, who also dropped a first-look image from the film. The young actor rose to prominence in 2017, when he appeared in two films that were eventually nominated for Best Picture: Lady Bird and Call Me By Your Name. His Best Picture hot streak has only gotten hotter with his roles in 2019's Little Women and 2021's Don't Look Up and Dune. He is also set to play a young Willy Wonka in an upcoming prequel to the Roald Dahl classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The film Bones and All will be the first time the actor has reteamed with director Luca Guadagnino, who helmed Call Me By Your Name. The cannibal film is adapted from the 2015 Camille DeAngelis novel of the same name. This will see Chalamet and Guadagnino returning to subject matter they have previously covered separately.

Netflix has released a teaser trailer for their long-awaited ‘Lost in Space‘ reboot. Although the trailer essential serves as an announcement for the premiere date of the new series mores than anything else, Netflix has been kind enough to provide a batch of new images that give us our first good look at the new reboot of a corny 60’s TV show that has been rebranded into what is now a “dramatic and modern reimagining” of the series. For those that are unaware, New Line attempted to reboot the franchise in 1998 with a movie of the same name, but it turned out to be a surge on the careers of the people involved and completely killed the franchise before it could even begin.

Netflix has released the first teaser for its “Lost in Space” reboot, the classic science fiction series which popularized this line: “Danger, Will Robinson.” With Parker Posey as the gender-swapped villain Dr. Smith, Will Robinson is in for some seriously fabulous danger this go around the sun. The newly released trailer is vague on plot but long on style, with “House of Cards” star Molly Parker in the role of matriarch Maureen Robinson. Parker’s tranquil voiceover lends the trailer gravitas, as she leads her intrepid brood into the great unknown of an epic-looking spaceship.
“Human kind evolves. It’s how we survive,” she says. “Earth is our home. But only so long as it keeps us safe. When this world can no longer serve that purpose: Another planet, another colony, another chance. The rest of human history begins now.”

Was I the only one running around screaming after this, maybe ... I dunno? All I know is I am all aboard the hype train for this series. Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for their upcoming reboot of the classic 1965 sci-fi series Lost in Space. I wasn't sure what to expect from this series, but it actually looks like it could be good! I know it's just an announcement teaser, but the production value seems solid.
The story will follow the Robinson family, who are a part of "a highly trained mission to establish a new colony in space, is unexpectedly pulled off course forcing them to crash land on a lost planet."
In the teaser, we see the Robinson family walking onto their ship, the Jupiter 2. The cast includes Toby Stephens as John Robinson, Molly Parker as Maureen Robinson, Ignacio Serricchio as Don West, Taylor Russell as Judy Robinson, Mina Sundwall as Penny Robinson, Maxwell Jenkins as Will Robinson, and Parker Posey as Dr. Smith.

“Lost In Space” is a franchise that Hollywood never quite figured out. The campy ’60s television series was eventually turned into a 1998 action adventure movie that is perhaps most notable for being the movie where Gary Oldman turned into a spider. The Robinson family is in danger again in the teaser trailer for Netflix’s upcoming reboot of Lost in Space.
If there were any doubt that the streaming service’s update would adopt a vastly different tone from the campiness associated with the 1960 original, this first look will lay them to rest. It’s an alternately uplifting and somber overview of humanity’s evolution, building to the Jupiter 2 mission to establish a new colony in space.

The series has been in the works for some time now, with the casting of Parker and Stephens having been announced in September of last year. Meanwhile the addition of Parker Posey to cast, as the nefarious Dr. Smith, hinted that the minds behind the new series were at least partially in the right place.

Before inheriting the title "Master of Disaster", a perfectly justified honour for his reputation of creating some of the greatest disaster movies of the 1970s, Irwin Allen was also the man responsible for some of the classic TV shows to emerge in the 1960’s. Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, The Time Tunnel, and Land of the Giants have all survived the test of time and become immortalised among the best in terms of cultural importance. However, above all others, Lost in Space (1965-1968) is arguably the series that endured. Very loosely inspired by Johan David Wyss's classic 1812 adventure novel “Swiss Family Robinson”, the premise for the show was fairly uncomplicated and followed the adventures of the Robinson family, a crew of space colonists who encounter a number of strange and otherworldly situations after their ship is sabotaged and thrown off its original course. Chicago – Gary Oldman has been generating memorable film portrayals since he broke through in the 1980s. From Sid Vicious (“Sid and Nancy”) to Lee Harvey Oswald (“JFK”) to Jim Gordon (Dark Knight Series), Oldman is a consummate actor. That is expressed in his latest role, as Winston Churchill in “Darkest Hour.”
The title refers to one of the most challenging moments of Churchill’s career. Newly minted as Britain’s prime minister in 1940, he faces the onslaught of Adolf Hitler’s attack on his homeland, including the surrounding of the British troops at Dunkirk. Gary Oldman embodies the pugnacious bulldog that characterized Churchill at the height of his power, including the soaring rhetoric that strengthened the morale of the British people.

Well, maybe not, unless you count this year’s canine reincarnation/multiple hound-homicide horror A Dog’s Purpose, which we don’t in these parts. Anyway, Quaid’s back in Blu-ray form with the recent repackaging of his 1984 quirky fantasy thriller Dreamscape.
Nicely sandwiched between the release of Jaws 3-D and Enemy Mine, surely two of the most Quaidessential (sorry) films of the decade, Dreamscape sees our hero take on the mantle of a cheaper Harrison Ford, burdened with psychic powers that he must use...

I wasn't really sure what to expect when meeting Elisabeth Moss for the first time in Cannes. We were about to spend the next three days together doing interviews, events, and dinners. Of course, I'd known of her since she starred as First Daughter Zoey Bartlet on The West Wing in the late '90s and early 2000s and wowed us all in Girl, Interrupted, holding her own with Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie. And I had just binge-watched The Handmaid's Tale and started Top of the Lake. Neither of her characters on those two TV shows were people I thought I would want to hang with, but luckily for me, Irl Lizzie is much more carefree, relaxed, and hilarious. In fact, she was a pleasure from the first minute we met. Literally - within one minute of meeting, she and my awesome, fun husband, Brian, bonded over baseball stats,...

Science Fiction is a term that means a lot of different things to a lot of different fans. When I was kid I thought it kind of meant Star Trek and Lost in Space, Bradbury books and the Twilight Zone episodes that included aliens. Of course, it’s so much bigger than that. There are subgenres and all kinds of slivers of fandoms that are populated with bazillions of fans. And Star Wars, of course, has just about transcended the entire genre and become its own thing.
So it’s was all the more interesting that a local art exhibit chose to focus on the earliest incarnation of science fiction. It’s called “Fun in Space: An Homage to Pulp Science Fiction.”
Pulp Science Fiction is cheesy and brilliant all at the same time. Pulps often sported lurid and garish covers aimed at adolescent males. On the other hand,...

The technology of seemingly distant futures in science fiction films and novels is now seeping into the real world of the present day, and at the upcoming Alien Expo in Dallas, sci-fi fans can gather to celebrate the facts and the fiction of the beloved genre.
Press Release: From the producers of Alien Con comes an experience unlike any other! For three days at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel and Convention Center, Alien Expo will be bringing you the best in science fact, science fiction and pop culture!
The line between myth and reality is attenuating. What previous generations deemed unlikely or even impossible is sitting on the brink of mainstream exposure: missions to Mars, virtual reality gaming, evidence of alien lifeforms. When Paul Reiser and Sigourney Weaver filmed the scene in Aliens featuring a video phone call, they surely couldn’t have predicted the appeareance of internet programs like Skype or FaceTime.

The casting slots for Netflix's Lost in Space series continue to fill up, as another actress has joined the reimagining's ranks to play a member of the Robinson family.

Sundwall joins a cast that includes Toby Stephens and Molly Parker as the Robinson parents, Parker Posey as the villainous Dr. Smith, and Ignacio Serricchio as Don West.

How the movies help us deal with loss - and how the likes of Star Wars show that life goes on...
Light spoilers for Lord Of The Rings, Star Trek Beyond and Life Of Pi lie ahead
Lord Of The Rings was a transient and some may say biblical experience for the younger me. Peter Jackson’s magnum opus was a trilogy to call my own; in a world full of Star Wars, Back To The Future and Star Trek I had finally gone to the cinema year after year to experience my own cultural mega event. Howard Shore’s score was my score. Legolas taking down the Oliphant was My Luke ensnaring the At-at with his snowspeeder cable. If they were ever to return to Middle Earth an screw it up years down the line, it would be my childhood getting defiled.
And then The Hobbit happened.

It looks like Parker Posey will climb aboard the Jupiter 2, as the actress has reportedly joined Netflix's Lost in Space remake series to play a key role familiar to fans of the original show.
Deadline reports that Posey (Scream 3, Blade: Trinity, Louie, Clockwatchers, Best in Show) will play Dr. Smith, a character who was the initial antagonist and (eventual) source of occasional comic relief portrayed by Jonathan Harris in the original series, which aired from 1965–1968 on CBS. Fans of the show will remember Dr. Smith as someone who set out to sabotage the Robinson family on their space voyage aboard the Jupiter 2 (originally referred to as the Gemini 12). No specific details about Posey's version of Dr. Smith have been revealed at this time.

Last summer it was announced that Netflix ordered a remake of the classic 1965 sci-fi series Lost in Space. The new series was described as an “epic but grounded science fiction saga focusing on a young explorer family from earth lost in an alien universe and the challenges they face in staying together against seemingly insurmountable odds."
Deadline is now reporting that Parker Posey (Dazed and Confused, Best in Show, Portlandia, Mascots) has signed on to co-star in the series. She is set to play Dr. Smith in the series, who was previously played by Jonathan Harris in the original series. Then Gary Oldman played the character in the 1998 feature film. Of all the many, many existing properities being repackaged, overhauled and/or rebooted and fired towards TV, Lost in Space doesn’t exactly leap off the page as must-see television. Granted, the cult 1960s sci-fi isn’t short of potential, but it’s only now that Netflix has sprung its casting spree for the 2018 redo that we’re beginning to stand up and take notice.
Toby Stephens (Black Sails) and Molly Parker (House of Cards) climbed aboard early on to play John and Maureen Robinson, respectively, and now, Deadline brings word of the latest addition to the cast: Parker Posey. It marks something of a reunion between the actress and Netflix following Mascots, while her other notable credits include Columbus and Woody Allen drama Café Society.
When it comes to Lost in Space, Posey will play the part of Dr. Smith, a stowaway who manages to find her way aboard the Robinson’s ship.
