General Hospital star Johnny Wactor died tragically when he was leaving work on May 25. After a bartending shift, he left and found three men trying to break into his car. While he didn’t approach them, one of the men shot and killed him anyway before running. Johnny’s brother, Grant Wactor, talked about his brother’s death on an episode of Today.
Here is what Grant had to say about Johnny’s tragic passing.

In honor of Women’s Equality Day (August 26), HBO Max announces the launch of its “So She Did” campaign, which champions the network’s female pioneers in front of and behind the camera.
The campaign kicks off with a film that celebrates the women who have been told they are “too much” and break all the rules to be who they authentically are.
The film features nine female-identifying talent: Jordan Alexander (“Gossip Girl”), Laura Donnelly (“The Nevers”), Susie Essman (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”), Myha’la Herrold (“Industry”), Martha Plimpton (“Generation”), Lisa Ling (CNN’s “This is Life with Lisa Ling”), Hannah Einbinder (“Hacks”), Zion Moreno (“Gossip Girl”) and Eyricka Lanvin (“Legendary”).
Ling kicks off the promo video, saying “When we were little, they told us we could be anything.”
“But when we became everything, that was too much for some folks,” Alexander chimes in. “When we push the boundaries. Sometimes the boundaries push back.

Do not adjust your WiFi settings. No, you are not experiencing a severe case of Deja Streaming-vu. HBO Max’s list of new releases for May 2021 are indeed highlighted by two very recent WarnerMedia hits.
For starters, Tenet finally makes its long-awaited HBO Max this month. Mark your calendars as May 1 is the day that you can finally watch Christopher Nolan’s latest cerebral thriller. Of course, Tenet already had its theatrical release, but obviously that was not really an option for many of us. In addition to Tenet, Wonder Woman 1984 makes its triumphant return to HBO Max this month on May 13. The Wonder Woman sequel already premiered on HBO Max this past December, now it’s getting a second run on the streamer.
In terms of newer originals, May is relatively light for HBO Max. The Jean Smart-starring comedy Hacks premieres on May 13. The latest Adventure Time...

This tribute to director Bob Clark and the 1983 chestnut “A Christmas Story” was originally published Dec. 20, 2007 on the Variety blog “Littleton On the Air”
It’s that wonderful time of year, time for repeated viewings of the holiday pic that never, ever gets old, 1983’s “A Christmas Story.”
TBS is obliging with its annual 24-hour marathon of the pic, starting Monday, Christmas Eve, at 8 p.m. Et. My family’s “Christmas Story” DVD is well-worn — no matter how many times we’ve seen it, we crack up at the scene where Darren McGavin unpacks his “fra-gi-le” major award. We can pretty much recite this movie from start to “you’ll shoot your eye out” finish.
But this year the fun of the pic that perfectly balances the sweet ‘n’ sour ‘n’ silly of the season comes with a tinge of sadness for the memory of “Christmas Story” helmer Bob Clark,...

Wayne’s World director Penelope Spheeris has said farewell to Hollywood for good — but it wasn’t an easy decision.
The 73-year-old director opened up about leaving the industry in an interview with the A.V. Club in which she said, “there’s no forgiveness” in Hollywood.
“Women can’t make mistakes,” Spheeris said. “You can’t screw up when you’re a woman. One little mistake and you’re done.”
Spheeris is best known for her 1981 documentary The Decline of Western Civilization as well as for her 1992 film Wayne’s World which is her highest-grossing movie to date with $183.1 million at the box office.

Filmmaker Penelope Spheeris has not released a movie in theaters since the 2011 comedy “Balls to the Walls,” and she makes it definitely clear in a new interview with A.V. Club that she has no plans to direct in Hollywood again. It turns out Spheeris made a conscious decision to leave filmmaking and Hollywood behind after helming the 2012 television movie “The Real St. Nick.” The reason why? “Hollywood changed into something that I didn’t want to be a part of,” Spheeris said.
“It was too — it’s ugly,” she continued. “You have no friends in Hollywood. Hollywood is a lonely, lonely desert, especially as a woman.”
In exiting Hollywood, Spheeris put behind her a four-decade career in moviemaking. The director is best known for making the punk documentary “The Decline of Western Civilization” and narrative features “The Little Rascals,” “Senseless,” and “Wayne’s World” — IndieWire recently named “The Decline of Western Civilization...

Senseless tragedy strikes in this week's Tng season 1 look-back, as the Enterprise crew faces off against a malevolent puddle...
This review contains spoilers.
1.24 Skin of Evil
The Enterprise is proceeding towards a rendezvous with Shuttlecraft 13 (both ships travelling on impulse power. Er, you might want to read a book while you wait) when it receives a distress call. Troi and the pilot are in trouble, and the pair crash-land on the nearby planet of Vagra II. The Enterprise arrives, not knowing whether Troi is alive or dead. Of course, she's alive. You didn't think they'd kill off a major character in such a pointless and perfunctory manner, did you? Oh. Yeah. Never mind.
After arriving at the planet, the Enterprise sends down an away team only to discover a pool of tar-like liquid refuses to allow them near the shuttle. They spend what seems...

Matthew Lillard is an actor that everyone should be familiar with. He's played diverse characters in several different types of movies; from horror films like Scream and Thirteen Ghosts to comedies such as Senseless and She's All That and family fare like the Scooby-Doo movies and television show. His newest adventure in the movie industry is as the director of his first independent feature film - an adaptation of the young adult novel Fat Kid Rules the World. I had the opportunity to speak with Lillard about bringing the young adult novel to life onscreen.
Give us a little background on Fat Kid Rules the World and how it came about.
The movie is based on a young adult book by a woman named K. L. Going. I read the book 10 years ago and fell in love with it. It's about a kid that's on the outside looking in - an outcast.

In 2011, we all seemingly discovered dubstep and learned how to pronounce "Bon Iver." We marveled at the success of Adele, Katy Perry and Rihanna, took the leap with Beyoncé and got royal with Jay-z and Kanye. We said hello to bright new stars like Frank Ocean and the Weeknd and watched former breakouts Florence Welch and Drake take the next steps in their careers. Oh, and pretty much all of us bought Lady Gaga's Born This Way, or at least debated its pricing schemes.

No living organism, be they man, beast, or plant, should ever be asked to watch this. Comedy is subjective; everyone has a different range of humor that elicits laughter. That said, this still requires the presence of comedy in some shape or form. Some films achieve it unintentionally, like anything starring Steven Seagall or super-low budget horror films with utterly absurd premises. Unintentional comedies are a thing of beauty; conversely unintentional non-comedies should be avoided at all costs. Perhaps the best example of this accidentally unfunny genre is the spoof film as it has existed since the success of the first two entries in the Scary Movie franchise. Usually, the feckless Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg were to blame for the piss-poor comedy, but in the case of Scary Movie 4, the culprits are Craig Mazin, Jim Abrahams and Pat Proft – which makes its crimes against film even more egregious,...

Knight and Day is what you get when you throw together two aging stars trying to be cool, $100+ million (most of which was spent on mediocre CGI), a script written by a guy whose most recent claim to fame was his role as an extra in Senseless (the 1998 David Spade trainwreck) and stir it using the level of subtlety found in Walk the Line. Already, the box office has not been kind to it, and I can see why: The movie feels like it was meant to be inconsequential, but lacks enough focus to be fun or exciting. While there were cool ideas to be found within, Knight and Day ended up being little more than a series of heavily CGI'd set pieces of greatly varying quality. And that ending... But what did you guys think? Was the film a return to form for Tom Cruise? Did Cameron Diaz ...
