Louis Félix made four films in total ,most of them rarely screened on TV.
"Ce Sacré Amédée" is a cock and bull story which does not matter anyway;the movie is often closed to the comic movies of the silent era ,notably the banquet at the farm and many scenes of the road ,in which the lines are minimal.
For ,most of the time,it is a road movie, but do not expect the-road- movie-in-which-the-hero-finds-his-real-"me",it is a pretext for introducing gags ,sometimes quite funny:the priest who thanks Amédée who walked all the way;the "new" coil given by the mechanic;and too many flat tires.
It's not much of a plot : a singer cancels her concert in Cassis ;her manager asks a beginner, our Amédée,to replace her ;on his way to Cassis town (near Marseille),he meets a group of young tourists ,a peasant with his donkey-drawn cart,a country priest,a wealthy greybeard who falls for guitar-strumming Cigale ,who happens to be the female singer who called it a day to have a vacation.
The last fifteen minutes take place in a theater where we attend hopeless acts ,performed by "Les Quatre Zizis"(= the four peters), a name which does not even make the audience laugh ,and a two bit conjurer who "was reportedly taught by wizard Rahat-Loukoum (=Turkish delight)".Fortunately ,unintentionnally,Amédée makes a proper mess of the show ,and afterward, slips away a la Charlie Chaplin, and sings a final song "Bon Voyage".
Louis Félix has fallen into oblivion today, but he may have a certain influence on Pierre Etaix whose career began in the following decade;Françoise Fabian was an excellent actress who married Jacques Becker but never worked with him (she did with her second husband ,Marcel Bozuffi ("L'Américain"));the always reliable Jacques Dufilho has a supporting part;the lead,Amédée,is virtually forgotten today
