The Jesus Lizard have unleashed a new standalone single called “Westside.” The track is the second non-album song to be unveiled since the September release of the band’s comeback LP, Rack.
“Westside” follows “Cost of Living,” the previous standalone single that was released in November. While neither track made the album, the two songs are connected.

Guitarist Duane Denison explained, “‘Westside’ goes along with the previous single, ‘Cost of Living,” which was subconsciously influenced by Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story and hence the name. Really.”
Singer David Yow noted a reference to legendary filmmaker David Lynch, who passed away last week. “There is a part in ‘Westside’ where the lyrics say, ‘… give him back his arm,’” stated Yow. “That was inspired by David Lynch’s Lost Highway, when Robert Blake’s character says, ‘Give me back my phone.’”

The premiere of the 36th season of "The Simpsons" was novel. Matt Groening's animated sitcom has been airing for so long -- so ... so long! -- that audiences have frequently begun to wonder how the zeitgeist-defining hit should come to an end. Will it tap out at season 40? At 50? And if so, how would the series actually close? Perhaps to take the pressure off, the showrunners decided that the premiere of season 36 should be a preemptive series finale, giving a retrospective of the entire "Simpsons" oeuvre before the show actually ends. The episode, called "Bart's Birthday," was presented as an awards-show-style screening, projected in a theater stuffed with celebrities ("Weird Al" Yankovic! Penn & Teller! The Unknown Comic!). Conan O'Brien, playing himself, hosted the finale in wistful terms, bidding farewell to the long-running series.

The best Jake Gyllenhaal movies showcase how impressive the actor's career has been. He debuted in one of his father's (director Stephen Gyllenhaal) standout films, City Slickers and never looked back. Although initially typecast as a brooding, moody teen in angsty pictures such the twisty cult classic Donnie Darko, Gyllenhaal has since aggressively diversified his acting portfolio. In addition to taking on a wide breadth of challenging roles that have cemented his status as an undoubted A-lister, Gyllenhaal has also performed on Broadway, while picking up a mammoth 30 awards for his various portrayals.
Pulling together a definitive list of Gyllenhaal's movies requires a comprehensive view of his two-plus decade career, so only his films with major roles are considered. A lot of his work as a child saw him only appear briefly on screen and in minor roles. Once he began getting supporting and leading parts, Gyllenhaal's career took off...

When Imtiaz Ali Fired A Crew Member From The Sets Of Alia Bhatt’s Highway (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Imtiaz Ali was seen as one of the speakers at the International Film Festival Of Goa (Iffi) recently. The filmmaker was seen speaking about women’s safety on the sets of the movies. During this, he recalled an incident wherein he fired a crew member from the sets of his 2014 film Highway which starred Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda in the lead roles. He cited the reason to be the crew member trying to be inappropriate with Alia.
Imtiaz Ali recalled the incident wherein he revealed how Alia Bhatt was often required to answer her nature’s call in unusual places since Highway was shot mostly in the outdoors. The director said, “We were shooting on the rural highway with Randeep and Alia, and there were no proper vanity vans back in...

Shaboozey took another victory lap in his breakthrough year with his debut performance at the 2024 CMA Awards. The musician took the stage for an electric performance of his record-breaking single “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” which he preceded with a bit of his song “Highway.” “A Bar Song,” a juggernaut radio hit, received a well-earned nomination for Single of the Year, but ultimately lost to Chris Stapleton’s “White Horse.”
Last week, Shaboozey released “Good News” as his first single to arrive after this album Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going.

Indian auteur Anurag Kashyap has boarded Deepak Rauniyar’s “Pooja, Sir” as an executive producer, while Channel 4 has snapped up the film for the U.K. and Ireland.
The film debuted in the Venice Film Festival‘s Horizons strand competition earlier this year, and has subsequently played Hamburg and Busan, with the Mami Mumbai Film Festival up next. It is inspired by real events which took place in Southern Nepal during the 2015 race protests, involving the Madhesi community. In the film, when two boys are kidnapped in a border town in Nepal, Detective Inspector Pooja is sent from Kathmandu to solve the case. However, upon her arrival, the brewing political unrest and violent protests throw her off course, compelling her to seek help from Mamata, a local Madhesi policewoman. By putting aside systemic discrimination and pushing through everyday misogyny, the women attempt to solve the case.

Daniel Kramer, a rock photographer who captured some of the most iconic Bob Dylan images of the Sixties, including the covers of Bringing It All Back Home and Highway 61 Revisited, died April 29, Rolling Stone confirmed. He was 91.

Indian filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s Netflix original film “Amar Singh Chamkila” is a hit for the streamer, bowing at No. 1 across South Asia and No. 5 on its global Top 10 chart.
The film is a biopic of Punjabi musician Amar Singh Chamkila (Diljit Dosanjh), who rose from obscurity working in a socks manufacturing factory to becoming the most sought after performer in the region alongside his wife Amarjot Kaur (Parineeti Chopra). Chamkila’s suggestive lyrics that were rooted in rural Punjabi life were described as vulgar by many, and he came under pressure from religious and political groups to stop and received death threats. His local musical contemporaries were jealous of his success. In 1988, Chamkila, Kaur and two of their band members were shot dead. The assassination remains unsolved.
The Chamkila story has been told twice before, as a mockumentary “Mehsampur” (2018), and as an unofficial biopic “Jodi” (2023), also starring Dosanjh, who...

Chicago – The internet has invented news ways to harass people, and the category of celebrity has taken the brunt force of it all. Dana Delany is one such A-lister, who began an online communication with a anonymous teen, and tells about it live in “Highway Patrol,” at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre through February 18th. For information and tickets, click Highway.
Play Rating: 4.0/5.0
As Dana Delany was doing the TV series “Body of Proof” in 2012, she began an online correspondence with Cam (embodied by Thomas Murphy Malony), a teenage heart transplant patient. As the series grind became more stressed, Delany becomes more dependent and intimate with Cam. It eventually becomes clearer that Cam and his grandmother (Dot-Marie Jones) don’t exactly seem to be who they are.

The Archies Cast: Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda & Khushi Kapoor (Picture Credit: Instagram & IMDb)
Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, and Agastya Nanda recently had to go through the same nightmare every star kid of this country goes through – the constant trolling, the unnecessary bashing, and the endless comparisons and criticisms. The only thing that went wrong with THe Archies was Zoya Akhtar’s vision. However, the kids had to face the brunt of it, and they did face it fiercely and strongly!
But we guess it has been enough said and done, and we shall move on from The Archies, as we did from every other badly made film, not putting the superstar on the hot seat forever and writing their careers off as we are doing with the trio of the film.

Trip has barely begun when a conversation about softball and scholarships between Ally and her daughter Samantha takes a horrific turn. The girl starts talking about a mysterious figure, has a meltdown, and then kills herself by tearing her eyes out.
Needless to say, this takes quite a toll on Ally who blames herself. Her husband Michael isn’t the most supportive of partners and she’s soon a shut-in living on booze and pills. Eventually, she falls under the influence of Jan a somewhat unorthodox therapist who gives her a hallucinogenic tea that will allow her to see Samantha again and find closure. Unfortunately, it also means she can see other spirits as well, including the one that pushed her daughter to kill herself.

Playing a foundational role in the history of film and benefitting from enough picturesque locales to launch a thousand postcards, France has long attracted directors and crews from across the globe.
Keeping them on site for more than a few days, however, was once a different story altogether.
The 2009 passage of the Tax Rebate for Intl. Production (Trip) and the subsequent 13 years of refinements both incremental and substantial have fundamentally reshaped that logic. Just last year, for instance, 92 international projects benefitted from the Trip plan, marking a 25 increase from 2019 and accounting for upward of 420 million spent on French soil.
“On an international basis, the tax credit put France on the table,” says John Bernard, CEO of production service facilitator Peninsula Film. As a line producer, Bernard has staffed big-budget productions like “Dunkirk,” “Hugo” and “The Last Duel,” while acting as a kind of international adaptor, delivering Hollywood production requirements through French working conditions.

"There's a door to the other side – this opens that door." Terror Films has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror titled Trip, from indie filmmaker Neil McCay (also of Eleven previously). This is heading to streaming right away on the AVOD channel Terror Films in early May, if anyone is interested. "Sorrow and despair are the villains in the frightening Trip." Following her daughter's suicide, a grief-stricken mother is visited by an unconventional therapist who offers a hallucinogenic drug that will allow communion with the dead. Desperate to understand her daughter's psyche, she accepts the offer and soon finds herself terrorized by her daughter's identical experiences. This also sounds like a cautionary tale about how bad hallucinogens can be. The film stars Akasha Villalobos, Major Dodge, Peggy Schott, Jill Young, and "Chucky" star Björgvin Arnarson. Visually this film looks quite bland, but maybe there is something more to the story.

Joel Coen recently directed a film without his brother, Ethan Coen, for the first time, and the result was 2021's "The Tragedy of Macbeth," a pretty darn terrific movie that re-imagined Shakespeare's classic tragedy as a black-and-white, noir-flavored, expressionist nightmare. Now, it seems that Ethan is getting back in the director's chair for a solo project of his own, despite the Coens' longtime composer, Carter Burwell, having previously claimed that Ethan "didn't want to make movies anymore" and instead intended to focus on writing original plays for the time being.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ethan Coen is now in active pre-production...

Key figures on Spain’s shoot scene have urged Spain’s film-friendly government to raise caps on incentives for international productions shooting in Spain to a muscular €30 million ($33 million) per title.
Current ceilings are €18 million ($19.8 million) for the Canary Islands, €10 million ($11 million) for the rest of Spain.
The call for a muscular rise in incentives was made at Spain’s Málaga Film Festival, as industry figures including Fernando Victoria de Lecea, line producer on Wes Anderson’s 2021 Spanish shoot “Asteroid City,” sketched a possible roadmap to take full advantage of the country’s extraordinary $1.8 billion Spain Avs Hub state funding which has begun to flow into events such as Málaga’s Spanish Screenings and the bullush promotion of Spanish series at Series Mania.
Other panelists took in Carlos Rosado, president of the Spain Film Commission, Roberto Sacristán, head of Alianza Industria Audiovisual (Alia) and Rosa García, president of RedCau, a...
