The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has announced the winners for its third annual Children's & Family Emmy Awards. The event took place March 15 at Television City in Los Angeles and streamed live on TheEmmys.TV app.

Meryl Streep (Storyline Online) won the award for Best Children's Personality, after previously taking home three Primetime Emmys for Holocaust (1978), Angels in America (2004), and Five Came Back (2017). The Princess and the Frogstar Anika Noni Rose shares that she is disappointed about the cancellation of the planned television spin-off series Tianathat was being developed for Disney+. Tiana was originally announced by Disney in December 2020. However, in March 2025, it was reported that Walt Disney Animation Studios was no longer focusing on producing long-form content for streaming and that the Tiana series had been cancelled.

In an Instagram post, Rose shared an image of Tiana from the 2009 animated film, showing the character wishing on a star. The post also includes a statement from the actress, which said that she was "disappointed" about the cancellation. She goes on to praise the work that had been done on the series, giving a special shout-out to former Walt Disney Animation Studios Chief Creative Officer Jennifer Lee, as well as writer and director Joyce Sherri. Rose also praises the animators and music team who worked on Tiana.

The beautiful white gazebo is one of the newest outdoor furniture in the cozy Disney game by Gameloft. It was added in the recent 1.12 Dapper Delights update, which added The Princess and the Frog items and characters.

Furniture and other items can be placed inside the New Orleans gazebo, making the outdoor furniture item a versatile part of any player's garden. Honestly, the theater kid in me pops up whenever I see characters exchanging props on screen and then acting differently. Well, if you have ever come across a stage production, then you might be able to understand what I am talking about here. For example, take a theater production of Macbeth with a solo actor in it. Now the same actor wears different props and costumes on screen to suggest his transformation from one character to another, and a similar thing took place in Netflix’s K-drama, The Frog, where we saw serial killer Ji Hyang-cheol’s cap passing on from one character to another. Though the transformation in Netflix’s K-drama isn’t as literal or emphasized as we generally see in theater, it is much more symbolic, which I am going to explore further.

On July 17, 1989, Splash Mountain opened at Disneyland Park; three years later, a version of the same ride opened at Disney World. It was a problematic attraction from the onset — the ride had all the classic charm of other timeless Disney fare like Peter Pan’s Flight and Pinocchio’s Daring Journey, but this iteration was founded on a troubling principle.

The film the ride was based on, Song of the South, had been voluntarily removed from circulation by Disney three years before Splash Mountain ever opened. The film was widely known to be racist and was heavily criticized for romanticizing the plantation-era South in America, and for bolstering harmful stereotypes about Black people.

Now, over 30 years later, the uncomfortable subtext of Splash Mountain has been put to rest, and in its place splashes down something all the more charming, festive and fun.

A musical event starring Ted Lasso‘s Hannah Waddingham and new holiday-themed specials from Frog and Toad and The Snoopy Show are set to premiere as part of Apple TV+’s November and December 2023 programming. The winter holiday lineup kicks off with the 50th anniversary screening of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, which will stream for free on November 18 and 19, 2023.

The lineup also includes a new special based on Margery Williams’ classic children’s book The Velveteen Rabbit, and a sing-along version of Spirited starring Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds. Everyone Else Burns has been renewed for a second season on the network, it was announced today by Brad Schwartz.

The series premiere is set for Thursday, October 26 (9:30-10:00 p.m. Et/Pt).

"Everyone Else Burns is a brilliant and bitingly funny series that is as much about family as it is about the end of days," commented Schwartz.

"There is truly no other comedy on television like it, and we are thrilled to work alongside the immensely talented writers and producers to bring the uniquely hilarious Lewis family to The CW for another season."

The series follows the Lewises, a strictly religious family who believe the world will end within the decade.

The long-awaited animated series Tiana is still in the works at Disney+, but now we finally have an update.

The show — which was originally announced in 2020 and is now set to hit the streamer some time next year — has announced Joyce Sherri as its lead writer and director, our sister site Variety first reported.
