There are few things millennials enjoy more than taking a trip down memory lane. You know, the good old days! One of the best ways to do this is by rewatching our favorite animated favorites such as Static Shock and Teen Titans, aka our Saturday morning cartoon lineup!
If this is something you also like do it, I’m sorry to report that streaming our old animated favorites is about to become more difficult. HBO and Max will begin removing many of these shows towards the end of December, leaving us with little to no options in the year 2025. Here’s a list of animated shows leaving the streamer.
Teen Titans leaves Max on Dec. 29
I’m still feeling salty about how Teen Titans was canceled and instead of a reboot (or a renewal), we got Teen Titans Go!. The latter is more comedy than anything else, packed with gags and crude/childish humor,...

Danny Antonucci, creator of Ed, Edd n Eddy, opposes a reboot and believes it would fail. He welcomes Cartoon Network to create new content but has no interest in participating. Ed, Edd n Eddy was a personal project for Antonucci, based on his life experiences, and he cherishes the memories of its creation.
Danny Antonucci, the creator of Ed, Edd n Eddy, has spoken out about his time working on the series and shut down possible ideas for a reboot, flat-out saying that a reboot would not work. The series lasted for five seasons over eight years and was wrapped up in a television movie, Ed, Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show, in 2009. "Dexter's Laboratory" was the first in an incredible wave of original animated shows from Cartoon Network. "Cow and Chicken," "Johnny Bravo," "I Am Weasel," "The Powerpuff Girls," "Ed, Edd, n Eddy,", "Courage the Cowardly Dog," and "Dexter's Laboratory" were collectively known as Cartoon Cartoons, and they turned Cartoon Network into a popular destination for animated entertainment that landed with kids and adults alike. However, Genndy Tartakovsky is one of only two creators from this run of shows who is still making groundbreaking animation today. The other is "The Powerpuff Girls" creator Craig McCracken, who just so happened to cut his teeth working alongside Tartakovsky through much of the first couple seasons of "Dexter's Laboratory." Perhaps that's why it's so wonderful to this day.
"Dexter's Laboratory" smartly' borrows and mixes elements from the best classic cartoons. There's the slapstick comedy elements that come from "Looney Tunes,...

Maxwell Atom's animated series "The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy" debuted on the Cartoon Network on June 13, 2003, and would go on to run for 84 episodes over the course of six seasons. The premise was delightfully ghoulish. The cluelessly happy Billy (Richard Steven Horvitz) and the angry misanthrope Mandy (Grey DeLisle) once cheated Death by rigging a limbo competition; it seems that Death will grant favors to the living should they win at a competition à la Ingmar Bergman's "The Seventh Seal."
Because of Billy and Mandy's limbo victory, a grim reaper named Grim (Greg Eagles) becomes their indentured servant. Grim constantly wants to kill Billy and Mandy, while the kids just want to go on adventures. Grim begrudgingly goes along. Early Billy & Mandy segments were originally aired as part of the diptych series "Grim & Evil," which shared its 22-minute airtime with another Maxwell Atom series, "Evil Con Carne.

Keith Giffen, known both as a comic book writer and artist whose characters have appeared in live-action franchises from Marvel and DC Comics, has died. He was 70 years old and had worked in comics since 1976.
Giffen was known for having a hand in the creation of characters including Lobo, Guardians of the Galaxy furry teammate Rocket Raccoon and the modern Jaime Reyes version of Blue Beetle. He also wrote acclaimed runs of “Justice League” and the “Legion of Super-Heroes,” as well as creating the cult fourth-wall-breaking character Ambush Bug (a decade earlier than Deadpool).
He died Sunday of a stroke, according to media reports (first reported by Bleeding Cool), but the news of his death wasn’t made public until Wednesday evening.
The comic creator often brought a wry sense of humor to his work. That included a posthumous Facebook post he’d arranged to have put up Wednesday after his death,...

Adult Swim has been gradually taking up more airtime on Cartoon Network, with recent events suggesting that it may eventually dominate the entire day's schedule. Adult Swim's success with older demographics and its recent increase in ratings have positioned it as a key player for Warner Bros. Discovery, which is looking to target the older generation to combat the decline of cable TV. Cartoon Network's relevance is at risk, as linear ratings continue to decline and original series migrate to streaming platforms. With Adult Swim dominating 13 hours of the day, Cartoon Network's future is uncertain.

Matt Groening's and David X. Cohen's animated sci-fi comedy series "Futurama" debuted on March 28, 1999. Only a few months earlier, on January 31, Seth McFarlane's animated sitcom "Family Guy" also premiered. They were both primetime animated sitcoms on the same network, and both were part of a wave of "Simpsons"-adjacent shows that tangled the airwaves for years. "Futurama" had the advantage over all the others, however, as it was co-developed by "Simpsons" creator Groening himself. 1999 also saw the release of the "Dilbert" animated series, "Home Movies" on the Upn, "Mission Hill" on the WB, and the stop-motion series "The PJs," as well as "SpongeBob SquarePants," "Batman Beyond," and "Ed, Edd n Eddy." It was a banner year.
As such, "Futurama" and "Family Guy" were often mentioned as a unit in conversations. Many fans of one watched the other, even though one was a sci-fi slapstick program and the other was a crass,...

Pharrell’s Something in the Water music festival returned for the second time ever this weekend, bringing three days of music to Washington, D.C. for Juneteenth weekend. The location was new: Pharrell moved his festival to D.C. after criticizing the “toxic energy” of the local government in his hometown of Virginia Beach, Virginia, where the first Sitw was held in 2019, and where his younger cousin was killed by police in 2021. On June 17-19, the super-producer and his many talented friends from across the worlds of rap, pop, R&b,...

Jeremy O. Harris is not one for resting. “Basically my [writing] process has been chain-smoking at midnight, drinking a lot of coffee, thinking, and then when my body’s exhausted, my subconscious can sing. That’s where I do my writing,” the critically lauded playwright and newly minted screenwriter told IndieWire during a recent interview. “I’m also a Gemini, so there’s just always going to be some mania to my process.”
His process has already garnered him many accomplishments, on the stage and in an assortment of filmed works, both in the film and television spaces. A graduate of Yale’s School of Drama, the author of the most nominated play in the Tony Awards’ history, “Slave Play” — an antebellum set production concerning three interracial couples that kindles a convergence of race and sex in America — a style icon, an unabashed Black queer activist. And he’s not afraid to display his wide wit,...

Cardi B says a transphobic meme that showed up on her Facebook page this weekend wasn't her doing and blames a former "team member" who had access to her account. The meme in question is a highly edited screen grab of Rolf from the show "Ed, Edd n Eddy" looking out of a window. A caption on the meme reads ... "I hope nobody see this tr***y leave my house." Spain's BRB to handle Cartoon Network licensing
MADRID -- Spanish animation company BRB is to be the new licensing agent in Spain and Portugal for Turner Broadcasting's Cartoon Network, the two companies announced Thursday. The move comes as part of a restructuring of Cartoon Network Enterprises -- the global consumer products arm of Cartoon Network -- following the separation of Cartoon Network's licensing responsibilities from Warner Bros. Consumer Products. Mar Romera, who has managed Cartoon Network Enterprises' growing licensing and merchandising businesses in Spain and Portugal for the past two years, will continue to head the licensing business. Among the Cartoon Network productions that BRB will manage in terms of licensing are: The Powerpuff Girls, Codename: Kids Next Door, Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, Dexter's Laboratory, Ed, Edd 'n Eddy, Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds, Around the World with Willy Fog and Mort and Phil.
