About a year and a half ago, the producers of Celebrity Big Brother asked Mark McGrath to stage a fake recording session so they could shoot a quick sizzle reel of him before the reality show began filming. But when Sugar Ray guitarist Rodney Sheppard arrived at the studio, he had the seed of a song idea he wanted to try out. “We started building on it and basically finished a song called ‘Highest Tree,’” says McGrath. “Ironically, the sizzle reel turned into a real session.”

The series follows a group of teenage girls from radically different backgrounds after an airplane crash strands them on a deserted island. We promise that you'll never find another like Taylor Swift. The 29-year-old singer brought her new single "Me!" to The Voice finale on May 21, in her second-ever live performance of the song with Panic! at the Disco's Brendon Urie. Of course, their duet packed in tons of the brightly colored butterfly and kaleidoscope imagery Swift teased in her record-breaking music video and on social media over the past few months. Where do you think the Easter eggs are hidden in this performance?
There's still plenty of guesswork left on the details surrounding her upcoming seventh album, but you can bet Swifties are on the case. Fans speculate that the use of butterflies could be a nod toward the next single or even the album's name, although there's nothing definite - and we know Swift likes to keep everyone on their toes. Oh well, for now we'll just enjoy her full...

One of the upcoming horror movies I'm most interested in checking out as soon as possible is 20th Century Fox's three-film adaptation of Goosebumps author R.L. Stine's teen horror series Fear Street. Yeah, you read that right - three-film adaptation. This is like The Lord of the Rings meets a PG-13 horror-thriller such as Blumhouse's Truth or Dare. The movies are all set to begin filming this month in Atlanta with Honeymoon helmer Leigh Janiak directing the first and third films, while Her Smell director Alex Ross Perry will helm the second motion picture. Benjamin Flores, Jr. has joined the cast as well.
Benjamin Flores Jr. is best known for roles in such action-comedies as Michael Bay's fifth entry in the Transformers series, Transformers: The Last Knight, and Tim Story's Ride Along starring Kevin Hart and Ice Cube. Flores Jr can next be seen in Netflix...

I loved the books of R.L. Stine growing up. I spent most of the first half of my middle school years reading his kid-horror series Goosebumps and then I spent most of the second half reading his scarier teen-horror series Fear Street. In fact, I still own several Fear Street books. Needless to say then that I'm excited about Fox and writer-director Leigh Janiak's upcoming three-film adaptation of Stine's Fear Sreet. And today we have word on the first castmembers to join the movie(s) in the form of up-and-comers Kiana Madeira and Olivia Welch.
Kiana Madeira and Olivia Welch will each be playing, "Gay teenagers trying to navigate their rocky relationship when they're targeted by the crazy horrors of their small town, Shadyside."
On top of that, we're also hearing that each actress is set to appear in all three films and will be playing two different characters...

For many people, the holidays bring with them fond memories of video game firsts: time playing with your family, new gaming systems revealed amidst shredded papers and squeals of delight, long snowbound days lounging through a favorite title.
Over the summer, we asked Twitter for their favorite memories and were awarded with lovely stories of moms saving for computers for their kids, playing games with them, beating treasured games, gnome punching in “Golden Axe.”
Earlier this month we brought that question to the Game Awards, taking to the red carpet to ask the gathering of developers, presenters, influencers, and celebrities what their fondest video game memory was.
The answers, from the likes of Panic! at the Disco frontman Brendon Urie, Ninja, Christopher Judge the cast of “Red Dead Redemption 2,” and more.

Panic! At the Disco delivered a scrappy and endearing cover of Weezer‘s “Say It Ain’t So” during a session for SiriusXM Hits 1.
The band performed a faithful rendition of the tune, with frontman Brendon Urie’s acoustic strumming creating a foundation for guitarist Kenneth Harris to recreate – with a few clever tweaks – the song’s tumbling riff and solos. While Panic! At the Disco didn’t inject the “Say It Ain’t So” chorus with its quintessential distorted crunch, Urie’s massive vocals gave the performance a potent extra kick.

This time we have a film which has been remade multiple times. However, we’re choosing to focus on the best of those remakes. This week, Cinelinx looks at Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978).
This often adapted story is based upon a three-part serialized story by Jack Finney which appeared originally in Colliers Magazine in 1954. It was expanded into a novel called “The Body Snatchers” in 1955.The first film version came out in 1956, and is considered one of the truly great sci-fi films. Might be the most ridiculously cute movie I’ve ever seen, in a way that transforms adorableness into something honest and wise and deeply satisfying. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing

This might be the most ridiculously cute movie I’ve ever seen. Not cute in a schmalty, sappy, insipid way, but in a way that transforms adorableness into something honest and wise and deeply satisfying, like how the best children’s picture books do. (Indeed, this is based on the series of books by Gabrielle Vincent.) An ineffable sweetness arises as if by accident from this simple story of a mouse, Celestine (the voice of Pauline Brunner), and a bear, Ernest (the voice of Lambert Wilson: Flawless), who overcome the “natural” animosity between their kind to...

I named Ernest & Celestine as the Best Animated Film of 2013 in my 2013 RopeofSilicon Awards and yet it hasn't even hit theaters here in the States yet outside of an Oscar-qualifying run late last year. Directed by A Town Called Panic helmers Stephane Aubier and Vincent Patar along with Benjamin Renner, the film has been granted an English dubbing for its Us release as it will open in Los Angeles on February 28 and New York on March 14 followed by national expansion to all major Us markets over the subsequent weekends. The story follows the two title characters, a mouse named Celestine and a bear named Ernest. In this story, based on the book by Gabrielle Vincent, the bears live above ground while the mice live below. Unlike her fellow mice, Celestine is an artist and a dreamer - and when she nearly ends up as breakfast for ursine troubadour Ernest, the two form an unlikely bond.

Killer Mike made his debut on Outkast’s legendary Stankonia album back in 2000 before appearing on one of my favourite Outkasts track a year later ‘The Whole World’. Since then he has gone on to release five solo albums on the Grind Time Official label. To some he is an Atlanta legend appearing on tracks with Outkast, T.I., Bun B, Young Jeezy and other Dirty South legends. He has often presented a more eloquent view of rapping touching on such diverse subjects as politics, religion and the plight of the poorer members of our society.
Although I usually would not take more than a passing interest in most of Mike’s catalogue, apart from a few of the more interesting songs, I immediately became interested when I heard his latest album would be produced entirely by El-p. The reason why this made it an interesting project...

Playing an onscreen icon — Michelle Williams in My Week with Marilyn, for a recent example — is a real mountain for actors to climb, but how about a titan of filmmaking? As Anthony Hopkins works with the persona of Alfred Hitchcock, Variety reports that Wagner Moura (Elite Squad 1 & 2, Elysium) is signing to portray Federico Fellini in Fellini Black and White.
Henry Bromell, producer and occasional writer on Homeland, has scripted and will direct the independent feature, making Fellini his first big-screen effort since 2000′s Panic. Here, he’s zeroed in on the legendary Italian’s March 1957, inaugural trip to America; this attempt at attending the Oscars will be given a bit of fill-in-the-blank history, since he disappeared for about 48 hours and only made it in the nick of time.

The sick and twisted minds behind the Melbourne Underground Film Festival have launched a brand new horror and sci-fi themed fest: Bloodfest Fantastique! Australia gets a lot more blood-soaked on June 10-18, nine nights of some of the most gruesome, terrifying and far-out films, past and present, from around the world.
While Muff has never been shy about screening genre films, Richard Wolstencroft — founder and director of both fests — is planning for his newest endeavor to simply be a celebration of his two favorite genres of filmmaking, without all the politicking hooha-ery that surrounds Muff.
So, there’s still a very underground-esque flavor to Bloodfest. The newer flicks in the festival have a scrappy, inventive, degenerate quality, from slice and dice em’s like Chris Sun’s Come and Get Me, Chad Ferrin’s Someone’s Knocking at the Door and Geoff Klein Bikini Girls on Ice; to monster flicks...

Michael York dashes onto the cinematic scene as the blundering but very enthusiastic D'Artagnan in Richard Lester's hugely enjoyable period comic romp. The late great Roy Kinnear is the long-suffering vassal of aristocratic swordsmen Oliver Reed, Richard Chamberlain and Frank Finlay, whilst Raquel Welch and Faye Dunaway shine as heroine and villainess, respectively. Producers Alexander and Ilya Salkind filmed the following year's sequel back-to-back with this more successful first part, which approach they would revisit shortly for Superman and Superman II. With 2009 at an end the time has come to look back over things with my personal picks for my favorite films of the year, the biggest disappointments, and a list of promising young directors to watch out for going forward. Please bear in mind that my bottom list is not necessarily what I consider to be bad films (though most of them certainly are) but the films that I was most disappointed by. It's an important distinction. As always it's worth noting that there are both good films (ie Mother) and bad films (ie Giallo) that don't appear because I haven't seen them yet and this is, of course, all purely subjective ...

The Toronto Film Festival has announced its lineup for Midnight Madness. And among this year's selection are some highly anticipated blood-baths from horror masters, Oscar winners and martial arts masters. First and foremost is the newly titled Survival of the Dead, from director George Romero. Also among the list is Diablo Cody's teen cheerleader flick Jennifer's Body, in which a half-naked Megan Fox eats boys. There is the long-awaited actioner Bitch Slap, which we saw footage of at last year's Comic-Con, which sends up the Grindhouse genre with a trio of hot ladies. And finally, if you're in Toronto and you miss Ong Bak 2, there's something wrong with you. Need proof? Read Rob Hunter's glowing review of the film from SXSW. Jennifer's Body (dir.
