Spider-Man 4 doesn't appear to be taking shape quite as quickly as some fans would like. However, it remains on track for a July 2026 release.
Tom Holland and Zendaya are already confirmed to star and there are lots of vague rumblings doing the rounds about everything from the villain to supporting cast. Of course, only time will tell whether we get another Multiversal tale or a long-overdue street-level adventure.
While we'd advise taking this with a pinch of salt, scooper @MyTimeToShineH today brings word that, "Marvel is considering Daisy Ridley for a role in Spider-Man 4."
There's no word on who she could play but at 32, she's only four years older than Holland so could easily be a new love interest for the web-slinger. Black Cat has been suggested by some fans on social media, with others making a case for the likes of Gwen Stacy and even Spider-Woman.

Back in 2021 when Olivia Wilde was still attached to helm a Spider-Woman movie for Sony Pictures, Daisy Ridley was one of the names that popped up in connection with the lead role of Jessica Drew.
Ridley denied the rumors at the time, but did say that she'd be open to playing the hero, and it seems the Star Wars sequel trilogy star is still interested in joining a major superhero franchise.
Sony's Ssu may be on its last legs, but that still leaves any number of potential parts in Marvel Studios' MCU or Warner Bros./DC Studios' burgeoning Dcu.
While speaking to ComicBook.com about her new action flick, The Cleaner, Ridley admitted that she's "open to everything" when it comes to stepping into a comic book-based role.

Marvel Studios may have the opportunity to reinvent many characters from Sony's Spider-Man Universe in the MCU as Sony's divisive Marvel franchise is officially coming to an end. 2024's Kraven the Hunter will be the final movie in the primary timeline of Sony's Spider-Man Universe, as Sony will now be focusing more on the McU's Spider-Man 4, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and the Spider-Noir series. Many will be glad to see the conclusion of the Ssu, which delivered disappointment after disappointment, but the franchise's most promising characters are also in jeopardy.

In an exciting new twist to the franchise, Marvel has debuted a wild new roster of Guardians of the Galaxy - a new team who boast the lethal mutant Wolverine as their leader. There have been many versions of the Guardians in Marvel lore, but the most famous are the '60s originals and Peter Quill's modern team, as immortalized in the MCU. Now, a third iconic roster joins them.
In the official preview of Steve Orlando, Ibraim Roberson, José Luis Soares Pinto, Oren Junior, Andrew Dalhouse and Cory Petit's Conquest #4, Marvel unites several of its newest heroes, declaring that the group "guards the galaxy" against both the Araneon Fleet and Dracula's new vampire legion. It's clear that Marvel is building up to declaring these heroes the Guardians of the Galaxy 2099.

Scarlet Witch's mysterious apprentice finally makes her full debut, but the details provided about her backstory are less than informative, and the limited facts make her even creepier. She has no memories of where she comes from or who she is. The man that found her and took her in was driven mad as he tried to help her, and even Agatha Harkness was afraid of her.
In the preview for Scarlet Witch (2024) #6 written by Steve Orlando, with art by Lorenzo Tammetta Agatha Harkness brings a student to Wanda Maximoff's Emporium. Wanda is cautious, and struggles to take Agatha at her word, but Agatha assures her this isnt a trick.
Wanda's new student, Amaranth, explains her backstory: she doesn't know what her real name is, or where she comes from, and insists she doesn't want to be a burden. Wanda assures her she's not, and offers to use a spell...

Kraven the Hunter slashes its way into theaters less than a month from now, but beyond that, Sony Pictures has only Spider-Man 4, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, and the Spider-Noir TV series on the way.
There was a time when the studio was developing an McU-style slate of projects, though the likes of El Muerto and Silver & Black have since fallen by the wayside. Oh, and let's not forget Olivia Wilde's long M.I.A. Spider-Woman movie.
The critical and commercial performances of Morbius and Madame Web likely won't have helped matters. Today, The Cosmic Circus brings word on some of the "Sony's Spider-Man Universe" movies considered by Sony.
"They have ideas in development all the time, but maybe a fraction of them ever actually see the light," the site explains. "There’s been talk of characters like Silver Sable, Black Cat, Sandman, Rhino, Chameleon & Scorpion all had pitches and ideas for movies.

Wolverine is one of the most popular Marvel characters and one of the most popular mutants. His origin story and powers are well known and it’s quite clear that he exhibits some animalistic traits which obviously translated to his name, overall look, and skillset.
While his status as a mutant these days is uncontested, it wasn’t always so as originally Wolverine was supposed to be something entirely different.
Originally, Wolverine was not intended to be a mutant. When he first appeared in ‘Incredible Hulk’ #181 (1974), co-created by Len Wein, Roy Thomas, and John Romita Sr., he was introduced as a character without a defined mutant identity.
In this debut issue, the Canadian government referred to him as “Weapon X,” which was merely a codename for him at the time.

Warning: Contains spoilers for Uncanny X-Men #2!!Since the founding of the X-Men, the Xavier Institute was their homebase, and a place of refuge for the world's wayward mutants. Yet now it has taken on a very different role in the post-Krakoan era of the franchise; the school is now Greymalkin Prison, and the mutant known as Siryn has been revealed as its first prisoner.
Uncanny X-Men #2 written by Gail Simone, with art by David Marquez offered a look inside the horrifying Graymalkin Prison, created from the shell of the former Xavier Institute. As the nightmarish creature called "the Hag" hunts mutants to drag them to confinement, Dr. Ellis approaches the first of her mutant inmates: Theresa Cassidy, aka Siryn.
Claiming Siryn as a prisoner is a bold move for Greymalkin Prison, and a major twist for this new Uncanny X-Men run, hinting at how dangerous the people in charge of it truly are.

Spoilers for "Deadpool & Wolverine" to follow.
In "Deadpool & Wolverine," Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) learns from the Time Variance Authority (Tva) that his universe is dying. This is mostly because Marvel Studios parent company Disney bought 20th Century Fox (home of the "X-Men" movie franchise since Marvel Comics sold off the rights in the 1990s). It's also, though, because in 2017's "Logan," Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) died.
The "X-Men" franchise made Logan its star and did not do a good job getting the audience hooked on the other characters. So, without Logan, the sustaining-interest in the setting is gone. It's typical "Deadpool" metatext, especially since with this film, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is bringing Jackman back as Logan to renew interest in itself.
After getting the news his universe is due for a pruning, Deadpool begins hopping across the multiverse. He thinks if he can find a Wolverine to fill his world's Logan-shaped hole,...

The upcoming MCU film Thunderbolts is currently in production, scheduled to be released in May 2025. The Florence Pugh and David Harbour starrer reportedly added another member to its cast. Mulan’s Liu Yifei is reportedly the newest addition to the cast of Thunderbolts. The film is directed by Jake Schreier and also stars Sebastian Stan and Lewis Pullman.
While IMDb shows Liu Yifei as simply an ‘Agent’, fans have been speculating about which role the actress would be playing. While Marvel boasts of many Asian-origin superheroes, only some have had associations with the Thunderbolts. Hence, here are three Marvel heroes that the Chinese superstar could play in the upcoming film.

Sydney Sweeney could join the MCU if she can share the screen with Zendaya as Spider-Woman. Sweeney's potential role could mirror J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson in the MCU. Minor changes to Sweeney's character can connect her MCU version with her Madame Web counterpart.
Sydney Sweeney is interested in joining the MCU, and there is one MCU casting decision that makes this possible. Sweeney recently made her Marvel debut in Madame Web as Julia Cornwall, a.k.a. Spider-Woman. Unfortunately, her superhero introduction didn't go well as Madame Web bombed at the box office and was torn apart by critics. It's also unfortunate that she won't get the chance to interact with other MCU heroes as Madame Web takes place in Sony's Spider-Man Universe alongside characters like Venom and Morbius.
Despite Madame Web's poor performance, it may not be the last time audiences see Sweeney's Spider-Woman.

Madame Web star Sydney Sweeney admits the struggling Sony Spider-Man Universe film was a "building block" for her career as she suggested the move to join the film was strategic.
Speaking with GQ, Sweeney addressed the much-talked-about box office struggles of Madame Web, which looks set to be the lowest-grossing Ssu installment to date. According to Sweeney, though Madame Web performed badly critically and commercially, the movie helped her to build relationships with the higher-ups at Sony and potentially land bigger roles. “To me, that film was a building block, it’s what allowed me to build a relationship with Sony. Without doing Madame Web, I wouldn’t have a relationship with the decision-makers over there,” Sweeney said. “Everything in my career I do not just for that story, but strategic business decisions. Because I did that, I was able to sell Anyone But You. I was able to get Barbarella.

Madame Web was a box office and critical flop, potentially spelling disaster for the future of Sony's Spider-Man Universe. Despite the failure of Madame Web, the film might have introduced a character who would be more promising as the lead of a Spider-Man spinoff. A Madame Web spinoff could potentially resolve the biggest issue facing Sony's Spider-Man Universe.

The popularity and success of the Spider-Verse animated franchise have inspired Sony to introduce shared Spider-people-oriented world-building gimmicks in live-action movies as well, and Madame Web is the first step in that direction. As a part of Sony’s existing Spider-Man Universe (Ssu), which includes movies like Venom, Morbius, and the upcoming Kraven, Madame Web will introduce the titular spider-themed clairvoyant as well as a host of female spider-characters, as the movie aims to become the franchise’s first female superhero ensemble.
However, despite the fact that these characters are prominent members of the Spider-Society, appearing across comics, animated series, and games for a couple of decades, they are relatively obscure to the general audience due to not having a presence in live-action movies yet. This can make enjoying a superhero team-up movie a bit of a challenging affair, and to get rudimentary knowledge about the characters in question,...

Spider-Woman and Mary Jane Watson join the ski chalet variant covers in Marvel Comics, bringing the total to seven snowy covers. Mary Jane is donning a classic Spider-Man look on J. Scott Campbell's variant for Amazing Spider-Man #40, while Jessica Drew is shown snowboarding on David Nakayama's Spider-Woman variant. Despite their rough circumstances in current continuity, these variant covers provide fans with a happier setting for these characters.
