The actress appeared on a recent episode of the Films To Be Buried with Brett Goldstein podcast, where she opened up about feeling “so slimy” during reshoots for her 2000 teen rom-com Down to You.

As reported by Variety, Stiles appeared on Brett Goldstein's Films To Be Buried With podcast, and she talked about performing a dance scene in the romantic comedy Down to You, where starred opposite Freddie Prinze Jr.Stiles praised the film's original script and Prinze as a "lovely, wonderful actor" but didn't have such kind words for Harvey Weinstein, the head of Miramax who ordered extensive post-production changes to the director's original cut of the film.

"[The script was] very good," Stiles remarked. "Then Harvey Weinstein got his hands on it and decided to capitalize on this trend… and it just became dumb." She was referring to the early 2000s teen romantic comedy boom, which led to her own rise to fame as well as Prinze's.

Anyone who was around cinema in the early 2000s saw Julia Stiles take the romantic comedy genre by storm. 10 Things I Hate About You and Save The Last Dance were staples of any millenial film collection. She always had a certain something that made her stand out from other leads at the time. So it’s exciting to see her now take the directing route, as she embarks on this new path. A first film is tough, as it can really shape how an audience sees the types of films you’re wanting to make. And while I wasn’t a massive fan of the film (check out my review Here) there’s still plenty of potential for Stiles behind the camera.

I was able to speak with Stiles about her directorial debut, Wish You Were Here, and why she chose to adapt a novel for her first feature.

The more the Step Up franchise evolved, the harder it became to track which order to watch them in. The original installment was the one that gave audiences a preview of the movie star Channing Tatum would evolve into, with the 2006 romantic drama casting him as a troubled youth who discovers a talent for dance. The film was a surprise success, and while Tatum soon departed to bigger things, the Step Up movie franchise itself would prove oddly robust.

There have been six movie entries thus far, though the most recent installment is considered more of a spin-off than part of the main franchise. While they largely scored poor reviews, their impressively choreographed dance sequences and crowd-pleasing formula made the Step Up movies a success. Brainstorm Media has acquired the North American distribution rights to Chosen Family, a romantic comedy written and directed by Heather Graham, and for which a trailer has now been released. Graham stars as the lead opposite 1990s movie icon Julia Stiles (The Bourne Identity) in a story about sibling rivalry and the family you choose as your own. Chosen Family tells the story of Ann (Graham), a yoga teacher on a path for inner peace amidst the chaos of her manic family and miserable dating life. Ann's journey is complicated by her inability to say no and her relentless desire to fix everyones problems. She struggles to save her sister Clio (Stiles) from addiction, leading to disastrous results. With a new love interest entering her life, played by John Brotherton (Fuller House), Ann must navigate the complexities of her relationships and learn to put herself first.

On Aug. 1, the six-part mystery series A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder debuts on Netflix. In the show, Wednesday star Emma Myers (with a solid British accent!) plays a teenage gumshoe who gets to the bottom of a homicide case years earlier in a small English village in this adaptation of Holly Jackson’s popular YA novel. Created by Poppy Cogan the show has Miss Marple vibes and also stars Zain Iqbal, Asha Banks, Mathew Baynton, Gary Beadle and Anna Maxwell Martin.

Johnson’s Knives Out 3 is chock full of Hollywood heavy-hitters, with Josh Brolin being the latest name added to the pile. They join the previously announced cast of Daniel Craig, returning as the quirky detective Benoit Blanc, and possible suspects of “Fleabag” actor Andrew Scott, “Challengers” breakout Josh O’Connor and “Priscilla” star Cailee Spaeny. “Knives Out” movies are known to employ a who’s who of Hollywood, so expect plenty of casting announcements for the whodunit in the coming weeks.

Rian Johnson is writing and directing the third “Knives Out” installment, titled “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.” He’s also producing with his T-Street partner Ram Bergman, who worked on the first two films. “Wake Up Dead Man” is expected to soon go into production and is slated to release in 2025. Plot details have yet to be revealed, but Johnson and Craig have teased that it is Blanc’s “most dangerous case yet.”

The segment doesn’t start like the usual Update segment: Fineman doesn’t sit next to either Colin Jost or Michael Che. Instead, she’s in front of the desk wearing an alluring Santa-themed nightgown. “The sexiest gift you can give your partner is trying something new in the bedroom,” she says.

The 42-year-old actress referenced not one, but two of her most iconic roles during appearances this week.

While onstage at the Mash-Up Americans Book Festival in New York City on Wednesday (December 6), Julia revisited the iconic poem she recites in her 1999 classic 10 Things I Hate About You.

She got notably emotional while repeating the final lines – “But mostly, I hate the way I don’t hate you, not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.” In the movie, the poem was about her relationship with the late Heath Leger‘s character.

That was just a warm-up for Julia though, who got into character for another role during a cameo on Saturday Night Live.
