Storyline
Did you know
- TriviaPit, a newcomer in the sequel Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008) for the Nintendo Wii, was originally supposed to be an unlockable character in "Super Smash Bros.", but due to the sudden yet enormous popularity of Pokemon, he was replaced by Jigglypuff.
- GoofsNess refers to his magic attacks as "PK" attacks. This is supposed to be "PSI." (The Earthbound games use the term PSI to refer to magic, though an early beta version of the game used PK, and this is probably what caused the error.)

Captain Falcon: Falcon PUNCH!
- Crazy creditsDuring the credits, the credits can be clicked on with the controller, telling what that person does or did in the making of this game. After the credits, the game displays a picture of your character in their environment or cute pictures such as Luigi holding a flag that reads "#1".
- Alternate versionsMany changes were made for the Western version. For instance, the attack sounds were replaced by new ones. The How to Play tutorial is different in the Western version. Luigi's Super Jump Punch and Purin's Rest (if timed correctly) make a "PING!" sound, rather than a "punch" as in the Japanese version. A "Congratulations!" picture is shown if one clears 1P Game in the Western version. Purin's name was changed to Jigglypuff. Also, the Beam Sword had different sound effects in the Western version.

I can't believe the reviews! Its so low. This game is just awesome and there's now word about it. The graphics were okay the gameplay is fantastic (not to mention there's a story but there simply doesn't have to be) and the characters are well chosen and presented. I always thought the next two Smash Bros in the series were more awesome. But I was 100% wrong! When I started playing this Original Smash Bros it simply blew me away! The introduction was unique and amazing and all the characters have so much fun together. My favorite characters are Luigi, Mario, Donkey Kong and Link and all the rest are cool with their own ways. I play this game for so many hours and I get so stuck into it that sometimes I wish my friends will play with me as well. Good work Nintendo! I'm proud to announce that this is the greatest work of art of gameplay you created!
