Not Bad for an independent-film.

I will admit that I wouldn't have watched this movie if it hadn't been filmed 80 miles from me (curiosity got me), but it was pretty decent. If it was a big budget movie with big star draw it would have been a hit movie. On the surface, the movie is the same old "guy doesn't want to get married" story line, but how they deal with it in this movie is quite original. The acting was as good as most big budget movies. Much better than I expected out of an independent film. I rated it 7/10 as a regular movie, but if you like originality OR if you live in Indiana it's a must-see.

Very funny and heartwarming film.

A very funny yet extremely heartwarming film. This small independent film is heads above many major studio productions. "Best Man in Grass Creek" great example that you don't have to spend millions of dollars to produce a quality film. This film deserves a much wider screening. John Newcombe did an outstanding job in his directorial debut. I hope we see more from Newcombe in the future. Kudos also to Newcombe and the rest of the cast. "Best Man in Grass Creek" also demonstrates quite clearly you don't need a host of "big names" to turn out a quality piece of work.

Very funny movie!

On first blush, you think this is a "chick flick". But the story is actually told from John Newcombe's character so you get the funny nuances that come only from the male's point of view. My wife and I loved it! Being from the midwest, I can relate to the "hillbilly" humor when they visit Grass Creek, Indiana.

Best movie I've seen in a long time!

Of course, I'm extremely biased due to the fact that my dh's cousins appear in the film. Too bad their names aren't listed on IMDb. They deserve a little credit. Beyond that the movie is worth seeing just because it is a refreshing change from all the gory action films that seem to catch everyone's attention. It is simple, clean and good. Need a laugh? There are many in this film about a man's reluctance to commit after being jilted at the altar. Some of the events in the film are based on true wedding stories - "the crying preacher" and the "reluctant groom." The final wedding takes place in an actual church located in Northern Indiana where one of the "cousins" is the official preacher. In the movie, however, he plays the part of a salesman. Most impressive to me, was the fact that his son trained the cows. Don't miss this one! It's amazingly funny.

Very funny and great for all ages and lifestyles

This is a very funny film. I have spoke with many others who have seen it and their comments were that they never laughed so hard. This movie is the type that we need more of. Your whole family can go and see it. Kids enjoy it as well as all age of adults. What this movie lacks in "big name stars" it makes up for in story line, quality performances by all, including all of the extras used. The settings are real, not fake. This movie helps each of us to be able to laugh at ourselves, as we all have had different and unusual things happen to us. We need movies like this that allow us to laugh and lighten up.

This is a movie that everyone needs to see and that at least 9 out of 10 will probably want to see it again. So take a load off, pay your admission, buy some popcorn, sit back and laugh with the "The Best Man in Grass Creek".

This is a strong dose of humor and laughter with heart and thought about what love truly is.

How charming to see a film that takes a delightfully humorous look at a serious subject - human relationships. Through the laughter and the very funny situations we can see the bittersweet feelings and longings of the human beings who want to love and be loved. Don't we all? This movie helps us acknowledge our comical behavior in the middle of a serious situation in real life, and enables us to laugh at ourselves. And, perhaps, to see where we need to change our behavior toward the people we love, and people in general. That is a lot of depth for a comedy to deliver, but this film does so, and does it extremely well.

fun movie

An independent movie about real people - yes, there are still people out there with big hair. No murders, no special effects, just an affectionate look at people. I had read about the movie when it was shown at the Heartland Film Festival; I was not disappointed. A movie with a plot, character development and intelligence. Is it 'To Kill a Mockingbird'? No, but it is fun.

We actually made it to Grass Creek recently. Not an easy place to get to, but everyone that passed us gave us a friendly wave. Kindness to strangers is still alive in the US. Perhaps that's one reason this movie was made.

Great movie!

Great movie. Maybe not a family show exactly but a great date night one. A rare Comedy /Romance you don't have to panic if the kids walk in the room. Good acting and fun romp.
