As Ohio State and Notre Dame reached halftime of the college football championship in January, viewers watched as an unusual interruption crossed their screens: a prerecorded video of the newly inaugurated president.
“In recent years our people have suffered greatly, but starting now we’re going to bring America back and make it safer, richer and prouder than ever before,” Donald Trump said, standing stiffly in front of an American flag as he addressed an audience of 26 million who had tuned in to watch the game. “We will put America first, and by doing so we’re going to make America great again.”
Even some high-ranking ESPN employees were shocked by the Maga video. Presidents have appeared on the network’s broadcasts before, but usually for some idle chumminess, like Barack Obama and his March Madness picks, or during an emergency, as Joe Biden did at the Sugar Bowl in...

“Together” combines the awkward experience of being in the room as a couple fights in front of you with a bold body horror premise that teeters just on the edge of being too cute by half. It begins like it’s riffing on the classic “The Thing” before settling into something closer to nightmarish slapstick comedy — like the less creative though still plenty committed inverse of “The Substance,” with plenty of ridiculous scenarios. Unfortunately, it never quite finds a consistently scary, let alone thoughtful, edge to use to cut deeper.
The film’s got a charming cast in the real-life husband and wife duo Dave Franco and Alison Brie as well as a more chaotic comedy-horror sensibility where it’s at its strongest. When the very film itself threatens to come apart — including as it nearly undercuts the whole thing in the end — the parts that stick with you stem...

The rich world of Gotham was full of twists, betrayals, and iconic character arcs, but some major DC storylines were planned and never made it to screen. Gotham proffered a thrilling glimpse into James Gordon’s early days in the Gotham City Police Department, offering origin stories for several classic characters and narratives from the Dcu timeline. However, there were several planned storylines that were dropped from the show, despite being planned or pitched.
Gotham, the TV series that delved into the origins of Batman’s mythos, aired for five seasons from 2014 to 2019. While it enjoyed a dedicated audience, the show faced challenges, including its fifth and final season being cut short. Originally intended to span a full 22 episodes, the last season was compressed into just 12, forcing showrunners to condense or abandon various storylines. Beyond this, some plotlines were scrapped because of viewer reactions, character popularity, or evolving creative decisions.

Better Man, the biopic about British pop star Robbie Williams, has been absolutely delighting the critics. The film, in which the singer is portrayed as a CGI chimpanzee, currently holds a 92% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 77 reviews. That's significantly better than another big musical biopic released the same day, A Complete Unknown, which only has a 79% approval rating among critics. Better Man has quickly become one of the most acclaimed music biopics of all time. Just compare it to the scores of recent music biopics like Bohemian Rhapsody (60%), Rocketman (89%), Elvis (77%), Back to Black (35%), and many others, and it's clear that Better Man is, well, better. It helps that it's helmed by the director of The Greatest Showman.
If you're unfamiliar with Robbie Williams, that's surprising, but he's most famous in the United Kingdom. After his time in the band Take That, he went on to become one of...

Fans expressed frustration about a recent The Price Is Right episode because many contestants lost their pricing games.
Some even called it “one of the worst” episodes of the popular CBS game show with Drew Carey as host.
Interestingly, the episode aired soon after one of the show’s models gave out helpful tips and tricks for fans to get on stage and win prizes.
In a clip shared on the show’s YouTube, a contestant named Linda participated in the game Do the Math.
The game required her to decide if one prize was worth more or less than the other one.
Her choices were a washer-dryer combo set and a game table. On the board, she had $869 to add or subtract from the washer-dryer price to get the game table’s price.

The '90s were a weird time for movies. The industry was booming, thus ramping up dramatically as a result. 1994's True Lies became the first film to cost more than $100 million just three years later, the budget for Titanic was $200 million. The surprise success of independent, less mainstream films, such as Pulp Fiction, The Full Monty, and The Silence of the Lambs, meant that studios and financiers were more willing to take risks, and bigger actors were able to take on weirder projects. This brings us to Philip Ridley, one of the strangest filmmakers of the '90s, and especially his obscure, wacked-out 1995 film, The Passion of Darkly Noon.
The film stars Brendan Fraser, Ashley Judd, Viggo Mortensen, and longtime David Lynch collaborator Grace Zabriskie, but few people have seen it. As its director told British critic Mark Kermode, "I think 10 people and their dog probably saw it when...

“Venom: The Last Dance” has swayed into theaters.
The third – and potentially final – chapter of the “Venom” saga, which began in 2018, sees Tom Hardy and his alien symbiote Bff come under attack from a ruthless government agency (led by Chiwetel Ejiofor) and some marauding alien beasts, sent by an ancient space deity (Andy Serkis). It’s pretty much exactly what you would expect from one of these movies, although with noticeably more heart, thanks to Eddie’s involvement with a family. It’s both goofier and much sweeter than the earlier installments. And ripe for much discussion.
TheWrap spoke to writer/director Kelly Marcel, who has been with the franchise since the beginning, and star Tom Hardy about this latest entry in the franchise, what made Marcel such a great choice as director and whether or not they’d ever want to make a hard-r “Venom” feature.

Paramount+’s Lioness may have shed its “Special Ops”: prefix for Season 2, but it made significant gains everywhere else.
Simply said, the Zoe Saldaña-led spy thriller’s sophomore run is fantastic, and stands as one of the year’s best TV shows. The only thing keeping it from an “A+” grade is that at times it gets so into the weeds of intelligence gathering and hair-trigger geopolitical issues, it can be a bit hard to follow. But if that is your jam (as it is mine), a rip-roaring thrill ride awaits.

The very first reactions to Alien: Romulus actually hit last week, but they were from fans who had attended an early screening. Now, critics have shared their thoughts on Fede Alvarez's film prior to the full review embargo lifting tomorrow evening.
Though these reactions are still pretty positive, they aren't quite as hyperbolic.
Nobody here is calling Romulus the "best movie in the franchise", but it certainly sounds as if director Fede Alvarez has done a great job of tapping into the visceral terror and claustrophobic chills of Ridley Scott's original and James Cameron's more action-heavy sequel.
While none of the posts are outright negative, the last act is said to be a "big swing" that's sure to divide fans, and Alvarez may also rely a little too heavily on fan-service.

The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable director M. Night Shyamalan's latest movie, Trap, arrives in theaters today, and the review embargo has only just lifted.
This isn't usually a great sign, and sure enough, the serial killer flick starring Josh Hartnett is currently sitting at 44% on Rotten Tomatoes with 39 verdicts added.
Despite the "rotten" score, quite a few critics have been defending the movie on social media, although most seem to agree that - like a lot of Shyamalan films - the plot starts to get far too convoluted and preposterous in the final act.
Still, Hartnett is said to give a great performance, and it sounds like Trap is an effective enough cat-and-mouse thriller for the majority of its run-time.
Worth catching on the big screen or waiting for streaming? Have a read through some of the reactions/reviews below, and let us know in the comments section.

The latest creation by a fan in Minecraft appears too good to be true. But rest assured, Attack on Titan fans are going to love it. The creation in focus is Shiganshina from the popular anime where people lived in peace until Colossus Titan ruined the day for them.
While it might’ve taken years to build the structure in the story, it took around 65 days for this fan to develop the megastructure. And it certainly is praiseworthy what came out as a result of his hard work. Maybe add some Titans in the game and Minecraft will have its own Attack on Titan.
Attack on Titan Directors May Well Hire Him As Well Players spend hours and hours for their in-game creations.

Jeff Harris and Bernie Kukoff's sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes" debuted in 1978 and ran 189 episodes over a whopping eight seasons. The series starred Gary Coleman and Todd Bridges as Arnold and Willis Jackson, two impoverished kids from Harlem whose mother had recently died. They were adopted by the wealthy Mr. Drummond (Conrad Bain), a Park Avenue millionaire. The series revolved around the relationship Arnold and Willis developed with their adopted father, new sister Kimberly (Dana Plato), and one of three kindly housekeepers. In the 1984 season, Mr. Drummond married a woman named Maggie, and she was played by Dixie Carter for two years before being replaced by Mary Ann Mobley.

Few periods on the calendar mean more to cinephiles than the two weekends in May occupied by the Cannes Film Festival. Since its founding in 1946, the French festival has been a launchpad for some of the most artistically significant films of all time. The Palme d’Or is one of the most coveted film awards on the planet, and the festival’s ability to balance subversive arthouse work with major Hollywood premieres has led many to view it as the world’s most significant celebration of cinema.
The 2024 lineup featured a mix of buzzy premieres from New Hollywood titans like Francis Ford Coppola and Paul Schrader alongside exciting new works from emerging directors. Between the Main Competition, Un Certain Regard, special screenings, and sidebars like the Directors’ Fortnight and Critics’ Week, the onslaught of new films can be overwhelming for anyone who isn’t able to give the festival their 24/7 attention.

A pop culture phenomenon that began as a series of silly 3D animations is leveling up and getting its own toy line. Bonkers Toys and Invisible Narratives have teamed up to develop merch related to Skibidi Toilet, the Generation Alpha touchstone that rose to prominence on the DaFuq!?Boom! channel.
The Skibidi toys will appear across major retailers beginning in the fall. The product line will depict multiple characters from the Skibidi universe. Alexey “Boom” Gerasimov, the creator who kicked off the Skibidi craze, has used his channel to tell the story of a conflict between TV-headed heroes and long-necked villains who ride around in toilets (hence the name).
Though that might sound like an odd premise for a hit franchise, Skibidi Toilet has become huge among Gen Alpha, even as it has perplexed older cohorts. On several occasions, DaFuq!?Boom! has finished first in our rankings of the most-watched YouTube channels of the month.

Veteran voice actor Mark Dodson has passed away.
Per TMZ, Mark Dodson, whose work included voicing characters in the Star Wars and Gremlins franchises, has died. His death was confirmed by his daughter, who said Dodson died while in Evansville, Indiana, to attend the Horror Con fan convention. Dodson reportedly checked into a local hotel after arriving in the city, and he suffered a massive heart attack during his sleep. He was 64 years old.
Mark Dodson's first big role as a voice actor was for the 1983 sequel, Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi, which was the third installment of the original Star Wars trilogy. He voiced the high-pitched monkey-lizard Salacious Crumb, the jester for Jabba the Hutt. He'd later do more work with the franchise, as he voiced various characters for the Ewoks: The Battle for Endor in 1985 and a Niima Scavenger role in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Before the fans were introduced to iconic child stars like Miley Cyrus, Hillary Duff, and Selena Gomez, there was a whole gallery of Disney shows that defined a generation. Popular Disney shows like The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Wizards of the Waverly Place, and more may have become unchallenged rulers of teen sitcoms, but the '90s nostalgia hits differently even today. The great thing about Disney shows is that each era distinctively stands out for capturing a particular generation’s interest. However, there’s no match for the quality of comedy that graced the screens in the '90s.
Viewers today may not be aware, but sitcoms in those days did not just comprise senseless jokes but impressively waltz around intelligent comedy, whether it was an animated or a non-animated show. From featuring witty and fun cartoons to hilarious coming-of-age stories, the '90s Disney sitcoms were the “bomb.

A Price Is Right contestant took a trip to the emergency room after winning a game of “Bonkers.”
The win earned the contestant named Henry a luxurious one-week trip to Hawaii – and a brief trip to the emergency room. While Henry was celebrating his upcoming vacation to the Aloha state, he dislocated his shoulder.
A video of Henry winning the game shows him jumping up and down and throwing his hands up, injuring himself in the process.
“Henry was celebrating and going, ‘Woo!’ and he dislocated his shoulder,” host Drew Carey explained. “Henry couldn’t spin the wheel, so his wife Alice had to step in. She, too, continued Henry’s streak, landing on 95 cents with the goal of nearing $1.”
As Alice took over the game and won, Carey joked, “Don’t hurt yourself.”
The game show later posted a video of Henry on their Instagram account with the caption,...

A “Price Is Right” contestant got a little too excited over his win during a recent episode.
Henry had been celebrating winning the game of Bonkers — which combines elements of Race Game, Split Decision, and One Away — on the show, jumping up and down.
As the show came back after a commercial break, host Drew Carey explained that Henry was going to have to have his wife spin the wheel due to him dislocating his shoulder while celebrating his win.

Lots of folks would be willing to give their right arm to play on The Price is Right. Apparently, a contestant named Henry took that challenge a little too literally.
On Thursday’s episode of the CBS show, Henry was so happy that he won the game of Bonkers that he managed to dislocate his right shoulder while jumping up and down in celebration. (The episode was taped in February).
When it came time to spin the wheel, Henry’s wife Alice had to take his place because, well, her hubby’s right arm was obviously hanging below his hips. Host Drew Carey had to explain why poor Henry couldn’t take a turn at the heavy wheel.
At least Alice brought good luck to Price is Right stage: She managed to land a 95 on the wheel, which sent Henry to the Showcase Showdown. He ended up winning a trip to Hawaii … and the ER.

Barbie fans are obsessed with one particular shot from the forthcoming film’s second trailer.

At the beginning of the “bonkers” trailer, viewers are shown a close-up of Robbie’s feet as she slips out of a pair of fluffy pink heels. However, instead of standing normally, Robbie’s Barbie stays on her tiptoes in a nod to how the toy doll appears.
Viewers were quick to praise the clever shot on Twitter. Chrissy Teigen wrote: “I need to know everything about this shot. How many takes, if she held onto something, was she harnessed, is the landing mark sticky, are they her feet, who did the pedicure, really just a documentary on this shot.”

The Masked Singer returned to Fox for its seventh season with a slew of good, bad and cuddly contestants.
“Welcome to the premiere you’ve been waiting for,” said host Nick Cannon. “It’s the most bonkers season yet.”
You may have already assumed that given that the reality competition series has its most controversial character yet lined up – Deadline revealed earlier this month that Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who propagated the lie that the 2020 election was stolen, caused judges Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke to walk off stage after he was unmasked.
Giuliani, however, does not feature in the season opener, you’ll have to wait for that.
[Spoiler Alert] Tonight’s evictee, dressed as McTerrier, was Duff Goldman, pastry chef and star of Food Network series including Ace of Cakes and Duff Till Dawn.
Goldman, who sang Loverboy’s “Working for the Weekend,” had quite the eventful episode.
