Exclusive: HBO Max is developing Good Vibes Only, a dramedy from John Stamos, School Of Rock developers/exec producers Steve & Jim Armogida and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment.

Created by Stamos and Steve & Jim Armogida and written by the Armogidas, Good Vibes Only is a coming of age story set to the timeless music of The Beach Boys. It is a show about a blended group of misfit foster kids who form a secret band to escape the challenges of school and the drudgery of their dead-end town, and end up becoming Insta-famous. Along the way, they become more than a band, they become what they always really wanted — a true family.

Breaking with obnoxious and antiquated long-time precedent, the TV Academy announced that at least for one year they're doing away with the traditional pre-dawn nomination announcement. Emmy winner Uzo Aduba and Emmy nominee John Stamos will be announcing nominations for the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards on July 16 at 8:30 a.m. Pt, rather than the standard 5:30 a.m. Pt announcement time. "Television has never been more robust, available and entertaining," blurbs Bruce Rosenblum. "This year we've had a 40% increase in drama series submissions and close to a 70% increase in limited series submissions, which underscores the wealth of content that's being produced across all platforms by top quality talent in this new golden age of television. English model-actress Cara Delevingne may be surfing along with the Beach Boys musical All Summer Long, from producers Craig Zadan, Neil Meron, and John Stamos. The Pan co-star is in talks for a lead role in the musical film which Michael Sucsy is set to direct for Fox 2000. The studio shelled out $2 million in 2010 for the pitch from Susannah Grant along with rights to the Beach Boys catalogue in a 1960s California-set story inspired by the crooners’ music.

Hairspray and Chicago producers Zadan and Meron teamed previously with Stamos on the 2000 ABC TV biopic The Beach Boys: An American Family, which the three exec produced. Further details on All Summer Long are under wraps but Delevingne would play Caroline. Last month the project was selected as one of 26 projects to receive tax credit cash in the California Film Commission’s annual lottery.

Exclusive: Deirdre O’Connor has been tapped to write the screenplay for Fox 2000‘s movie musical revolving around the catalog of the Beach Boys. O’Connor, who was nominated for a WGA Award for her work on Lifetime’s Five project, has penned a new take on the pic working closely with director Michael Sucsy. There’s not many details on the new version, but I understand O’Connor’s script is different from the Susannah Grant pitch Fox 2000 paid north of $2 million for in October 2010. That logline had the music serving as a backdrop to an original narrative, a la superhit Mamma Mia! The pitch then: “The story takes place in Southern California over a summer in the ’60s. Kirk Ellis, writer/co-executive producer of the HBO miniseries John Adams, has signed with ICM Partners. He was with CAA. Ellis won an Emmy for writing the seven-part mini and shared in John Adams‘ award for best movie/miniseries. Ellis has several other projects in the works at HBO, two with John Adams‘ co-producer Playtone — miniseries 1776 and series based on the James Ellroy novel American Tabloid – as well as film The Day The Laughter Stopped, about Fatty Arbuckle’s career, which has Eric Stonestreet attached to star. Ellis’ previous credits include several ABC long-form projects — miniseries Anne Frank, Life With Judy Garland: Me And My Shadows and The Beach Boys: An American Family, as well as telefilm The Three Stooges. He also created/co-exec produced the TNT mini Into The West. Ellis continues to be managed by Thruline and repped by attorney Bob Myman.

The four-hour miniseries would air on both cable networks (which are both under the same overall A&E Networks umbrella) in an effort to attract a broad audience of both men and women. Although the project is still in early stages, executive producers Craig Zadon and Neil Meron are TV movie vets with credits including "Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows," The Beach Boys: An American Family" and Lifetime's upcoming "Steel Magnolias."

Lifetime has proven they can still lure in big audiences for TV movies, 5.8 million viewers tuned in to see Rob Lowe in "Drew Peterson: Untouchable" in January.

With "The Vow" becoming the first film of 2012 to cross the $100 million mark, director Michael Sucsy is wasting little time is using that leverage to tackle something a bit more ambitious than the three hankie romance. He's already got another love story of sorts, the "Romeo and Juliet" re-telling in "Rosaline" coming together with Lily Collins, Dave Franco and Deborah Ann Woll but he's already looking at what he'll do after that.

The director has signed on to take the helm of an untitled musical, powered by the tunes of the Beach Boys. Michael Sucsy (The Vow) is in talks to direct Fox 2000's currently untitled Susannah Grant Beach Boys Musical.

The original musical is based on a fictional story created by Susannah Grant and will be driven by the music of The Beach Boys. The script was passed to a handful of directors, but Michael Sucsy responded to the material. He recently spoke with the writer to discuss the details of the project.

Craig Zadan and Neil Meron will be producing the film alongside John Stamos. The trio produced ABC's The Beach Boys: An American Family.

This project is still in early development.

20th Century Fox won a bidding war for the rights to the songs of "Beach Boys" in order to develop a big screen musical, which will be based on a pitch by Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich). The plot is being kept a secret, but the film will follow a fictional storyline similar to "Mamma Mia." John Stamos ("Full House") is on board to produce. The movie is also produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who have previously developed such successful musicals as "Hairspray" and "Chicago." They are currently in pre-production on "Footloose." Stamos previously starred in Meron and Zadan's movie "The Beach Boys: An American Family," back in 2000.
