Billions
Malin Akerman ("Watchmen") has been cast in Showtime's new drama pilot "Billions" alongside Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti. Akerman plays Lara Axelrod, a former nurse who is now married to billionaire Bobby 'Axe' Axelrod (Lewis).
The story is a fictional tale of the high finance world, examining what happens when Lewis' brilliant, ambitious hedge-fund king character collides with hard-charging, whip-smart U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Giamatti). Filming is now underway in New York. [Source: THR]
Fun House
Nicholas Braun ("The Perks Of Being A Wallflower") will join Tina Fey and Margot Robbie in "Fun House" at Paramount Pictures. Braun will play the cameraman who works with Fey's character.
An adaptation of Kim Barker’s wartime memoir "Taliban Shuffle," Fey plays a journalist and self-confessed adrenaline junkie who recounts her six years of reporting on terrorism and international affairs in Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. [Source: Deadline]

Gotta love the 80s.
“Ping Pong Summer” is a good tribute movie to those moviegoers who remember growing up in the 80s. It’s about a teenager who spends a summer at the beach in Ocean City in 1985. It combines the tributes of arcade games, young teen love, hip hop and of course—ping pong.
The film has great veteran actors like Susan Sarandon, Lea Thompson, Amy Sedaris and John Hannah. It also features the young actors of Marcello Conte, Myles Massey and Emmi Shockley.
Latino-Review had an extended exclusive phone interview with director Michael Tully. We discussed in significant detail about the production, the actors, the music and the love of the 1980s.
“Ping Pong Summer” is currently in limited release in certain theaters and also available on VOD.

After the confirmation that American Horror Story’s fourth season would be making at least part of it set at a carnival, the only thing I could think was “So what’s the title going to be?” One of Ahs’s defining characteristics is how it re-imagines itself every season, going so far as to even change its name with each iteration. We’ve had Murder House, Asylum and Coven was the latest. Considering the carnival setting, I figured it would be something related, maybe like Fun House? Thankfully, the wait wasn’t that long because Ryan Murphy can’t help himself when it comes to teasing his fans.
Murphy posted a tweet to his Twitter account, saying, “American Horror Story Season Four:” followed by an image of the word “Freak Show.” I think it’s safe to say Season 4 will be called American Horror Story: Freak Show. I...

Why a career in filmmaking? Was there that one inspirational moment?
Oh man I have a couple of them. My background is a bit different because I grew up in the film industry. My grandparents worked at MGM together and they met when they were kids, and I grew up going to Spielberg’s movie sets whilst he was shooting the likes of Jurassic Park. So from an early age it was in the blood and I just knew what it was I wanted to do. Also I grew up in a small town just north of Los Angeles. I remember how we had one theatre and several features and I saw Baron Munchausen and Beetlejuice there,...

Adult Swim Funhouse erected in Petco parking lot
Each July, Comic Con International descends on San Diego, all but devouring the downtown area. There are ads everywhere, the more elaborate and creative the better, and every year, the offsite activities grow. This expansion is probably somewhat to blame for the unprecedented crowds we saw this year, with more and more would-be attendees heading to San Diego despite getting locked out from tickets to the actual convention. There’s Petco Park, taken over and transformed into the Walking Dead Escape (for a mere $75, see if you can survive this zombie obstacle course without getting turned. Or you can observe for $25). There’s the Petco parking lot, filled with attractions, including the Adult Swim Fun House seen above. There’s the lawn in front of the Hilton Bayfront Hotel, with food and attractions of its own, no ticket required. Then there are...

Leonardo DiCaprio is a quadruple threat: Actor, producer, game show contestant and person who doesn't win things. The latter skill sets go as far back as 1990, as evident in this clip uploaded by VideoSurferYNX and surfaced by Buzzfeed. The then-15-year-old actor, at the time best know for his role on Parenthood but having also played "Kid Fighting Scout" in The Outsiders and "Darlene's Classmate" on Roseanne (his best work to date, playing Luke Brower on Growing Pains, was just around the corner), appeared on Fox's game show Fun House. The show was no Legends of the Hidden Temple, but did involve Leo dressing as Godzilla, getting hit with "schmutz bombs,"...

It's been a good year for Knightmare fans. That is to say, it's been a good year for anyone lucky enough to have been a kid in the late eighties and early nineties, before childhood was hijacked by smartphones and cans of Relentless, back when your biggest fear was being blinded in a youth club paintball game, or your mum accidentally ironing your shellsuit.
In January, Citv's Old Skool weekend gave us a sliver of Knightmare nostalgia and last month, Challenge TV began repeating the first two series on Friday evenings (as God intended, just after Fun House). Nashville, Tenn. (AP) — When Iggy & the Stooges broke up in 1974, almost no one who'd heard of the band had actually heard it.
More than 40 years later, Iggy Pop's band has a new album "Ready to Die," a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and growing reverence for its place in music history. It's one of rock's stranger success stories, but what do you expect when it comes to Iggy Pop and the proto-punk band everybody used to hate, but really loved?
"It's true, it's a funny arc with us," Pop said in a phone interview last week. "That is the way it is, actually, in all the various numerical yardsticks of all this crud — it's bigger than it was. We have the advantage that it was so tiny when we started. It was really really tiny in numerical scope, but it's grown and all those old...

Continuing her busy touring schedule, Pink and her daughter Willow checked out of the Hotel de Rome in Berlin, Germany on Friday (May 3).
Looking casually chic, the "Fun House" songstress wore a floral print skirt, black leather jacket and a beanie while making her way to her tour bus.
Although the 33-year-old songstress is plenty busy, she took time out to stop and greet fans and sign autographs before heading out.
Getting ready to take the stage again, Pink's next stop is in Hannover, Germany where she will rock out at the Tui Arena.

The Amazing Race Review, Season 22, Episode 9
“The Ultimate Fun House”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
This week’s action-packed episode of The Amazing Race reveals the best and worst aspects of the current incarnation of this long-running show. After 22 seasons, it’s impressive to see challenges that still feel creative and exciting for devoted fans. On the other hand, there are warning signs that the producers are drawing the wrong conclusions from the consistent success. They seem convinced the audience is fascinated by the showmance between the hockey players and Caroline and Jennifer. While mentioning it is fine, repeating the same types of conversations feels unnecessary when so much is happening in the competition. Even if they make the finals and are competing directly for the million, the story isn’t going anywhere. A much bigger moment has Bates waking up on the train to Dresden, Germany and...

During week nine, the top of the leaderboard was shaken up and alliances were tested. A main focal point of this week?s episode was the budding romance or potential of a romance between Bates and Anthony and Caroline and Jennifer. As the teams whittle down, the racers are being tested with whether or not they should play nice and help fellow racers or leave them in the dust. In ?The Ultimate Fun House,? a number of racers had to decide if they wanted to play nice.

Danger Mouse is being considered for a TV reboot by FremantleMedia after its success as part of Citv's Old Skool retro weekend earlier this year.
Citv celebrated its 30th birthday in January with a weekend of classic series including Sooty, Fun House and Press Gang. Danger Mouse was the biggest hit of the weekend, pulling in record viewing numbers for Citv.
Broadcast has confirmed that FremantleMedia Kids and Family Entertainment are now holding talks about reviving the kids' animation for a full series.
Danger Mouse was produced by Cosgrove Hall Films for Thames Television between 1981 and 1993.
David Jason voiced the eponymous Danger Mouse, who was joined on his spy adventures by timid, bespectacled hamster Penfold (voiced by Terry Scott). The primary villain was wheezy-voiced toad Baron Silas Greenback (voiced by Edward Kelsey).
President of FremantleMedia's Kids and Family Entertainment Sander Schwartz said: "[Danger Mouse] is something we might be looking to do in the not-too-distant future.

Caroline Flack has spoken to Digital Spy about presenting from the BAFTA red carpet, Rylan Clark hosting The Xtra Factor and trying not to get star-struck by Javier Bardem.
On the star-studded show being held this Sunday (February 10), she admitted: "I'm a bit nervous actually. I haven't even watched all the films yet - I've got three to go!
"I've watched so many - usually with a film I'll sit down at the end of an evening with a glass of wine but this time I've had to cram it all in."
Hosting alongside Dermot O'Leary, she said: "He's the voice of calm. I keep texting him saying how nervous I am and he keeps texting back saying, 'It's going to be fine!'"
Inquiring whether she'll be okay without her Xtra Factor co-host Olly Murs by her side, she joked: "I think I'll be alright without Olly - I think I'll survive.

After taking a few dramatic roles in films like Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds and the recently released Alex Cross, director and star Tyler Perry figured it would be best to throw in a little more Madea into his filmography. After all she is his highest money maker and easily the best thing to come from his odd mind. Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Witness Protection plants itself firmly in the Madea canon as another laughable entry in a mostly harmless little series. It’s not going to win Perry any new fans, but it should satisfy the one’s he’s already managed to rustle up.
Hot shot Wall Street investment banker George Needleman (Eugene Levy) goes into work one day expecting another boring and event-less 9-5 scenario but ends up finding out that he’s a part of a large Ponzi scheme that has forced him into witness protection.

Perhaps a less eye-grabbing, but still “driving” title for this third Mubi soundtrack mix should be Shifting Gears...as such, it’s a free-falling, propulsive survey of scores focusing on the thriller in all of its manifestations: detective procedurals, bank heists, neo-noirs, spy films, psychodramas, giallos, chases, races, and sci-fi mind-games. Featured also are a few composers better known for their more famous musical projects. Police drummer Stewart Copeland’s metallic, rhythmic score for Rumble Fish, gamely taunts the self-conscious black and white street theatre of Francis Ford Coppola's film. So-called fifth Beatle, producer George Martin’s funky Shaft-influenced Live and Let Die score ushers in a more leisurely 70s-era James Bond, as incarnated by Roger Moore. Epic crooner visionary Scott Walker’s fatally romantic melodies for Leos Carax’s inventively faithful Melville adaptation Pola X is remarkably subdued and lush.

Hillsong is a multi-million dollar global brand with a massive following, particularly among the young. What can marketers learn from this fast-growing faith factory as it turns 30, asks Robin Hicks.
Say what you like about Hillsong. The happy-clappy megachurch does not enjoy a Godly reputation in all quarters, and gets a kicking in the comment thread on Mumbrella whenever we write a story about Gloria Jean’s, the coffee chain it supposedly has ties with (which Hillsong denies – see below).
It’s also been on the receiving end of some bad press for a lack of transparency over its finances, sordid goings-on that led founder Brian Houston’s father to depart, a book by a former Hillsonger that called it ‘toxic Christianity’, and allegations of vote stacking in Australian Idol.
But Hillsong is one of Australia’s few global brands. It is one of the most powerful Australian youth brands.

It’s official, Bond 23 is called Skyfall and filming is already underway for a release in cinemas next October (November in the U.S.) on the 50th anniversary of the film franchise. So as we all start to get hyped up with the series again (yes, a year to go is Not too early to get excited!), it couldn’t be a better time to chart the greatest moments from the Bond films so far…
The James Bond series has been a staple of the cinema-going population’s calendar for the past 49 years! Bond has become a character so ingrained within popular culture that there’s barely a human being alive in the world who doesn’t know who he is. He gets the most beautiful women, drives the best cars and travels to the most exotic corners of the globe. Men want to be him; women want to...

Before there was “Lust for Life”, one of the greatest things to come from Iggy Pop’s collaboration with David Bowie, there was Iggy and the Stooges. They started with modest roots, excelling in a strange and eclectic mix of instruments that gradually gave way to the rock that would elevate them above their competition. After years of struggling to find success they recorded two albums before finally hitting upon the sound that would catapult them to stardom: Raw Power. It seems only right then that that album would be the focal point for their 2010 reunion where they played most of the Raw Power tracks along with a few off of Fun House and The Stooges. The show they played in Monticello was filmed, but to avoid making it just another concert film, the cameras were put in the hands of six Stooges fans who got to have a sit-down Q&A with the band.

This week's news in the arts
In 1970, rock critic Lester Bangs wrote a review of the Stooges' album Fun House in which he spent the first 6,000 words musing on the divide between artist and fan. The only real way of judging an artist's worth, he decided, was to fling a custard pie in their face and see how they responded. Alice Cooper, he noted, had reacted to his own on stage pieing by gleefully rubbing the custard into his pores, and Iggy Pop would no doubt similarly thrive off the mayhem. Bangs predicted that most big stars (George Harrison, Richie Havens, Led Zeppelin), however, would simply storm off the stage in a huff.
Pies have been flung in many areas of culture. Thomas Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow includes a custard pie fight between passengers on a plane and an air balloon. Terry Johnson's play Dead Funny had people flinging pies...

I've just been scribbling a proposed story idea for the next season of Doctor Who. It goes like this: Doctor, Amy and Whassisface land on the Planet of The Top Hats And Tuxes – a doomy old planet full of misery run by the evil regime of Camos and Osbos, two perma-grinning posho androids who trundle around in top hats, bow ties and tuxedos. Anybody without a tux is mercilessly cut to shreds by Camos and Osbos. The Doctor stages a rebellion among the planet's inhabitants, and eventually they overthrow the nasty rulers by cutting off their life supplies – or draining their bank accounts dry. Doctor saves the day. Amy shouts something sarcastic at the top of her voice. Whassisface dies and then comes back to life for a celebratory happy ending.
The end!
Well, you never know, it might work, although since there's a hang-gliding pig breezing past my window,...

I enjoy reading memoirs. I like reading someone else's story and finding the universal connection between myself and a stranger. Failing that, it's nice to see if someone else's life is more fucked up than mine. A competition among strangers to see who gets the bigger laugh and the most pity.
Graphic memoirs are amazing because the author is choosing the images she wants you to see. A sentence that I might pass over in text becomes impossible to miss because of the way the shadowing was done on the page or the angle of the bodies or the images in the background. Less words are needed, so the ones that are chosen have more importance.
Of course this doesn't work if I don't like the art work. If the story sucks but the art is my style, I can slog through. If the story is great but I hate the art,...

Preface: I was Wrong! Completely, thoroughly, absolutely wrong! I said there was no way that Sam gets his soul back this episode. I knew for sure that they would keep us hanging over the hiatus. I was prepared to be Kripked for over a month. But I was wrong. And I really hate that.Previously - Death was scarily awesome and helped stop the Apocalypse, Tessa was a pretty reaper, Balthazar collected souls, Cas warned Dean about Sam's soul, and RoboSam was happy being soulless.
In a back room of a Chinatown??? (place cards please) butcher shop, Freddy Krueger, M.D. needs a refresher on sterilization and interpersonal relations. He may have stitched up John but Dean wants some personal space and maid service. Blade Runner Babe has no bedside manner and Dean is okay with a 75% survival rate. Awww, he has a note for Ben if he dies. (Nice handwriting.

Previously - Meg made me love Ellen/Jo and squicked me out with Cas, shape shifters have a Daddy, Crowley lied through his teeth (probably) and made Dean and RoboSam his errand boys - yeah I find that one hard to process too.
We open to Crowley chained to a chair, getting knocked around with a baseball bat by Crowley. Don't get too excited -it's not two Crowley's for one day at the Demon Mini-Mart. Free Crowley is rocking a butcher apron. I'm guessing Shape Shifter Alpha tried to gain empathy by taking Crowley's form. He has obviously never met Crowley. "I'm sorry but your exceptional good looks aren't going to buy you any mercy." Didn't this Alpha get away? I wonder who bagged him. Shifter Alpha says he can't help with purgatory but Crowley's sources disagree. "You’re the father of your entire species. You're really not pulling off this dumb blonde act.

Kicking off at 6pm on Saturday evening and rolling all the way through the witching hour ‘til the wee hours of Sunday morning, the Film4 FrightFest All Nighter has become an institution and an essential offshoot of the main August Bank Holiday bonanza. Previously held in the Ica (and becoming a sauna by about midnight), this year we upped sticks into Screen 2 of the Empire, Leicester Square.
With plenty more seats, comfier ones too, a better screen and sound and, mercifully, air conditioning, the scene was set for an epic assault on our fear receptors. But were we to be left quaking in our boots or sleeping in our seats?
Confessions
First up was Confessions. This Japanese revenge thriller takes the form of a series of confessions (see what they did there?) that intricately intertwine revealing the truth behind a young, female teacher’s daughter’s murder. If you thought...

The League’s based on a premise unimaginable only a couple years earlier. No, The League has nothing to do with superpowers, it’s a fantasy football league that Pete (Mark Duplass) has won for three years straight. But, regardless of the thing that brings them together, the idea of men getting together to compete and act stupid is timeless and The League has assembled some crack comic performers and improv vets to pull it off, including Paul Scheer, Nick Kroll, Stephen Rannazzisi, Jonathan Lajoie and Katie Aselton. The results show more promise than actual results in the first year (often the case with comedies), but there’s enough here to think that the show might come together eventually, there’s no lack of talent, and it regardless of if you play fantasy football or not. My review of The League follows after the jump.

Chicago – Twentieth Century Fox has released a number of the best shows of their FX channel in the last month and we thought we’d cover them all in one review for one simple reason — you should get all three. FX continues to break new ground in television with “Sons of Anarchy,” “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” and “The League” and the most recent season of each is now available in beautiful HD.
Blu-ray Rating: 4.0/5.0
Showtime, HBO, USA, and AMC get more press, but FX has been a consistently essential part of the television landscape for the last decade. Whether it’s the remarkable drama of “The Shield,” the guilty pleasure of “Nip/Tuck,” or the dramatic rollercoaster of “Rescue Me,” they’ve helped redefine drama on basic cable. Their dramatic trajectory has continued with the excellent “Justified,” the recently-debuted “Terriers,” and what could arguably be deemed their most popular show right now,...

America's Got Talent is always good for a disturbing image or two, particularly if Piers Morgan's naked body is involved. (Haha. Don't click that.) Last night's second audition show was no different, as it acquainted us with the neon styling of "Fighting Gravity," a Blue Man Group-esque mime act with an industrial-rock undercurrent. If the Pac Man-visits-a-Fun House theatrics become too much for you, calm yourself by realizing it's just a group of frat boys who like wearing monochrome sweatsuits together.

The third Stooges album has had a strange, combative life—not because it has so much lunging force, though that hasn’t abated in 37 years, but because no one has ever agreed about the versions that made it onto shelves. David Bowie mixed the original (which Iggy Pop famously produced), and mixed it to a rapid screech that many fans of 1969’s The Stooges and (especially) 1970’s Fun House took for a diminishment of the band’s heft. But over time, Bowie’s quicksilver treble and vastly reduced bass became a kind of purist totem for many ...
